    Our CB situation.

For someone who later complained about manipulative stats, this was quite a clever way of you using selective stats to minimise Salah's overall contributions. To suit your narrative, you've chosen to ignore goals he scored in the FA cup and Champions League games after Dec 27th. Yes he went off the boil a bit after a brilliant start to the season but he was still our most dangerous and effective forward during our terrible spell of form. P.S - Penalties are a valid way of scoring. And we should be happy to have players like Salah who sticks them in with almost a 100% record. Just look at the way City fret regarding who takes penalties for them because their record is awful.

    Nathaniel Phillips

It is interesting that opposition teams often want to target Phillips as soon as he gets on the ball early in the match. However, they soon realise that he actually is decent with his feet and give up on that plan by halftime. Happened again with Arsenal yesterday.

    Fabinho

Yep. Redknapp was waxing lyrical about his assist for Salah's goal tonight.

    Diogo Jota

Hopefully this doesn't encourage Klopp to start him on the bench constantly. Ha!!
  5. 4 consecutive goals via headers. Jota Diogoal machine.

    Diogo Jota

He is proving to be a brilliant all-round player. I'm pleasantly surprised with his heading ability. Many forward players often just head the ball as powerfully as they can and hope it goes in. With Jota however, it is noticeable that he puts a bit more thought into it. Knows when to glance it or direct it to the corner with a deft touch. Just proves again that you dont need to be a 6 foot 3 striker to be great at headers.

    Ibrahima Konate

I posted this earlier and I'm posting it again just to provide context to those injuries. Yes, you have a right to question his injuries but the situation only looks worse on paper. The young lad has had only one significant long term injury. As stated by a journalist who knows more than a bit about the player.

    Ibrahima Konate

I am seriously thinking the behaviour of some of our fans has turned parody at this point. In comparison to this Konate deal, there was genuinely more positivity when we panicked and brought in two CBs for 1.5m on deadline day. We are now actually planning ahead and paying close to 40m euros on a very promising CB talent. Isn't that supposed to be a good thing?

    Ibrahima Konate

Hmmm. I would be interested in finding that interview. I'll look around for it. I do know there was something dodgy about Fekir's knee. If there wasnt, he wouldn't have ended up at lowly Betis despite being one of Europe's top playmakers at the time.

    Ibrahima Konate

Didnt Gerrard used to be fairly injured a bit when he was younger? I think there are young players who grow out of these things to a certain extent. So I don't get why we would instantly write off Konate based on one significant long term injury and a couple other shorter term ones. All transfers are gambles in a way. You can sign a player with no significant injury record and then he becomes a sick note ( e.g Keita). There just aren't any guarantees. Before we signed Thiago, there were also lots of shouts about him being very injury prone. However, the games he missed this season were only because of a bastard tackle by Richarlison. He hasnt picked any other injury since he got fit. There just isnt a nailed on approach to these things.

    Ibrahima Konate

Wow. This is genuinely the first I have heard of Alisson being signed only because we pulled out of the Fekir deal. And since it is contrary to all the reliable reports I had read about the Fekir deal, I can reliably inform you that I don't believe you.

    Ibrahima Konate

Sigh. A lot of whining already. True, the injury record is a bit worrying but it is actually not as bad as it looks on paper. And at least, the club is finally showing some intent to rectify their lack of action over CBs this season. Let's remember, FSG pulled the plug on the Fekir deal due to injury concerns. Do we seriously believe they would sanction a 40m euro fee if they believed they were signing another Matip in Konate? And also, let's not forget we did sign Van Dijk shortly after he recovered from a significant injury and a long spell out at Southampton.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

Well, I like the guy but being one of the best midfielders hasn't stopped Thiago from repeatedly making daft fouls since he joined our team. Klopp knew it was a big risk to let him last more than 65 tonight. Subbed him and rightly so.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

If Wolves had scored from that counter when Mane flopped over, it would have summed up another typical Mane performance. Refusing to go down in the box when fouled then throwing himself down in every other area of the pitch. Also in recent weeks, he has perfected the act of looking a big threat and having shit end-product simultaneously. He gave Adama Traore a big run for his money in that regard tonight. Edit - Mane did set up the goal for Jota, so I guess it's too harsh to compare him to Adama Traore.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

Hasn't been his best game for a good number of games recently, tbh.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

Think we should just sub Thiago off at halftime for Keita. I dont see how he is going to last the whole of the 2nd half without making another daft tackle which would probably get him sent off.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

The front 3 should really do more of this "passing to each other" thing. Seems to be a good way of scoring. Worked for the 1st goal vs Leipzig and worked again tonight for the opener.

    Wolves (A) Premier League - 15/3/21 - 20:00

Cant believe some of his teammates or even one of the coaching staff, haven't told him to cut out this bollocks of staying on his feet when fouled. It's bordering on pure stupidity now.

    Nathaniel Phillips

That's what I guess would happen too. Considering we have previously been linked to him for so long, I reckon FSG would be happy at the chance to moneyball on him. And Klopp would probably also think there is enough in Kabak to work with next season. Win win.

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

Was said on Sky that 7 of their last 8 defeats have come at Goodison Park this season. Good old Everton. They keep trying to out-do us. "You've lost 6 times at home yeah? Watch us lose 7".

    Nathaniel Phillips

His agent was asked and apparently clarified that Phillips' contract doesn't run out at the end of this season, as previously widely believed. Who knows if that makes him more likely to be money balled this summer instead of being kept on for next season.

    Thiago Alcantara

Thiago played quite well. He also played well in the first leg. It's a pity Salah wasted his karate kick assist in the first half.
