  1. Bang on. I think their last 2 wins against us were the 4-0 at Etihad in 2019/20 and then the 4-1 at Anfield the following season. The 4-0 was after Liverpool had been crowned Champions and still in party mode. The Anfield defeat was when we had a defensive crisis with the game played also in an empty stadium.
  2. For a team we apparently struggle against, that's 2 wins and 2 draws in the last 4 we've had against City. I have never been unduly scared of City in the Klopp era. I reckon they hate playing us even more than perceived.
  3. Alisson definitely out of this one according to Klopp. Kelleher also missing. Our 1st and 2nd choice keepers do enjoy missing more than a few games. Yo, Adrian. Over to you so.
  4. I dont see him getting more than 15 to be honest. Hope I'm wrong though. He just doesnt seem to have that natural cutting edge. I think he'll still be an important attacker but not with the numbers we've come to expect to expect from our wide players.
  5. It's preseason and shouldn't mean much. However, I cant help but feel mildly annoyed by that game. Partly because the scoreline wasnt a true reflection of the game and partly because it's those Man United cunts. 4 nil flattered them, considering the chances we created and hitting of the woodwork at least 4 times. Anyway, I reckon we batter them again when it matters most. Let their fans on social media have a bit of deluded joy, lull them into a false sense of security.
  6. The worst and dumbest shit I usually see on Twitter are from white people. Being of mixed race, maybe I should avail myself of the opportunity of being snotty of "White twitter" without feeling guilty of self-flagellation.
  7. Throwing in an edit to make your gif more accurate because when opponents break on us, he is not dynamic or quick enough. No physical presence and he is easily left flailing. However, Keita is usually actually good at pressing high and being involved as Liverpool break. He's scored a few in that scenario, notably the quick break as Liverpool tore United apart for his goal at Old Trafford. Also had a hand in a couple other goals that day after Liverpool won the ball back and broke quickly.
  8. I'm sure Dave means nothing of the sort but racist connotation can be implied by the specific use of "African" Twitter. Someone could easily draw comparison with Terry calling Ferdinand a "black" cunt when simply calling him a cunt would have sufficed. As a person of mixed race, I can absolutely guarantee that there are a multitude of batshit crazy cunts from both races on Twitter posting absolute shite. By attaching the "African" prefix, it can read as if these are a worse brand of dimwitted cunts. This kind of thing fosters the sniffy, condescending tone of quite a few people in this forum to anything African related. Very quite evident before and during the AFCON. Again, not accusing Dave of being a racist prick. Just think there should be an awareness around this issue.
  9. Pleased that we've acted like a big club in this case. Can't be having a situation where Mane departs and then Salah goes on a free a year later. You want elite level, world class players to stay at your club? Then pay close to the going rate and be ready to compromise a bit on "wage structure". And for those who have been doom-mongering, thinking this kind of deal would lead us to financial ruin - it won't. Only a handful players in our squad would be eligible to the kind of wages Salah is now on. And the club keeps taking in more revenue each year with new sponsorship deals and the likes. So yeah, dont fret
  10. Interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Usually, 30 year old players who are still in good condition would want the security of a 3 year deal at the least.
  11. I think people shouldn't think it is only about the money when it comes to Salah. There is the possibility he also wants a 4 year contract and the club want to give him only a 2 year deal or something like that. The length of contract when a player turns 30 is usually a sticking point in negotiations.
  12. Wow, interesting. Every team knows they essentially need to put 3 players on Salah with a keeper behind? Seems it has only taken them 5 years to work out a way to nullify him and he still ended the season as golden boot winner and multiple player of the year awards. That's some top notch nullifying. And regarding his form after the AFCON, seems the logical reason is he lost a bit of physical and mental sharpness after playing 120 mins SIX times in a space of a few weeks with a couple intense penalty shootouts to boot. But hey, why go for logical reason when other avenues are available? All fine by me.
  13. I agree with the overall sentiment. And it is reinforced by the fact that even when we played them over two legs last year, they still knocked us out. True, we were missing a couple key players but we hardly laid a glove on them in both legs. It was a really meek exit. While Liverpool do have a love affair with the European Cup, Real Madrid are the legitimate husband.
  14. I really don't agree with this over-emphasis of holding Man City as some sort of gold standard. And also this thing about not beating the top 4? Well, none of them beat us either!! Winning against the top 4 doesn't guarantee you the league anyway. There are so many seasons when we beat other top 4 rivals and still didn't win the league. Yes we should seek to improve our midfield, but let's get it clear - every team has its flaws, even Man City. And despite our supposed major issues in midfield, Liverpool have been the team which has won every single major trophy available within the past 3 years. City haven't, even with their blatant cheating and bottomless pit of cash.
  15. While I'm not opposed to the notion that we should keep seeking to improve our great squad, I think the midfield "issue" is being overstated considering we have won every possible major trophy within the last 3 years. Yes, we should strive for perfection but in reality, no team is 100% perfect. If they were, they would win the quadruple every season. People also ignore the possibility that having the midfield we have had contributed significantly to us having the best defence and best attack. The balance provided by our midfield facilitates those other areas in the team.
  16. Would have helped if Van Dijk closed down the man who was in acres of space on the wing instead of jogging along in a straight line without making a serious effort to go cut out the ball which led to the goal. Also it's incredible that we play a right back who's "constantly caught out" but we still end up with in the top rank of clean sheets each season. Trent should be giving his wages to the other three defenders who do all the heavy lifting.
  17. Well, generally rich people like getting richer. And football is also an unusual case because it is a short career and you can only maximize earnings when the going is good. I know if most of us were in his shoes, we certainly won't be looking for a wage cut after winning a 3rd golden boot and multiple player of the year awards in 2022. The club owners are extremely rich people who also strive to make 10x their purchase price of Liverpool, so I won't begrudge a player wanting a slice of that action.
  18. I think people are deliberately forgetting that Mane does get an entitled cob on occasionally. He blatantly ignored Klopp's outstretched hand after the 5 nil win at Old Trafford for example. And he also on occasion had to be subbed off to save him from getting sent off. He can be quite petulant and I'm sure he resents being portrayed as a player in Salah's shadow. He is a diva just like Salah. Salah is the Ronaldo kind of diva, courting the limelight, willing to talk big in public and full of self confidence bordering on arrogance. Mane is the Messi kind of diva who gets away with it because of a media friendly personality wrapped in huge doses of perceived humility. I would still have wanted us to keep both divas for the next 3 to 4 years. Nothing wrong with a being a diva if you're as talented and effective as they've been for us.
  19. Yep, even on this page there is someone accusing him of greed.
  20. I agree with the general premise of this post. However, I also think if this profile of attacker is what we now want, we probably would have been better off keeping Origi on higher wages and a guarantee of more playing time.
  21. I dont think Nunez is shit but I would have loved for us to push for Christopher Alan Nkunku for that kind of money. Fits us better style wise and more proven in a top 5 league.
  22. Ok, firstly the problem a few years ago was "Klopp doesn't win final games". Now that he is winning final games, the accusation is we didn't score in the finals and relied on penalty shootouts instead of blowing teams away. *rolls eyes* When did this memo get passed that winning a trophy without scoring in the final diminishes the achievement somewhat? How has this become a thing? There are other cup finals we've scored but lost under Klopp and I don't recall winning a consolation trophy in the three finals we scored in vs Sevilla, City and Madrid.
  23. I finally got around to watching the highlights again this evening. I had avoided it since Saturday. And I agree with Dave regarding Madrid's goal. I believe it was offside. They never showed a proper replay with camera angles to prove it was onside. But I reckon they didnt want to go through the whole VAR thing again due to the one which got ruled out in the first half.
