  1. 30 years old Essential Mix from Dave Clarke, available on BBC Sounds.
  2. Many councils’ adult and childrens services are in special measures and unfit for purposes. Some of that is down to cost cutting . Obviously it hit harder in poorer places which was the purpose of austerity.
  3. Hopefully some Friends of <insert neighbourhood> Street Lighting Facebook groups start up to run what was a statutory service for the benefit of all. The Big Society in action. Hook up the Peleton to power it then post to Insta #community
  4. This is the book he’s written that’s discussed in the interview. https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/451795/technofeudalism-by-varoufakis-yanis/9781847927279
  5. Just flicked onto Talk TV on the Liverpool TV freeview and Liverpudlian Tory Jake Berry is at the helm as Terry from St Helens states on the phone in, and I quote: “no one’s got control in this country. Doesn’t matter who I vote for in my constituency it’ll always be Labour. We need a dictatorship in this country.” And there you have it. The great English public speaks. Rule me with a rod of iron and as long as I can be obnoxious to forrins I’m alright.
  6. You fucking like surprises now! Happy birthday mate
  7. There’s a clip in black and white of kids in Kirkby getting interviewed and they still had the sing song lilt to the accent.
  8. Insta link to a report from South Bank Show (I think) on Scottie Roaders and north and south end accents. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3SxMdHMqGk/?igsh=OHllemc2Zmtvd25u
  9. There is no alternative, Bruce, old boy.
  10. Not linking the Mirror as the site is practically unreadable but in March 23 it quoted he later wrote on his website: "When I started out, nearly everything I tried was a total failure. "My business partner and I tried exporting marmalade to Japan – which flopped. We tried building children’s playgrounds – that failed. "We tried to run a business setting up guides for foreign tourists – that folded too. "Eventually we hit on something that worked – we started publishing student guides to help people find the right college or university." Should’ve done what his ancestors did and imported a load of mitsubisis for the Chinese market.
  11. Jeremy Hunt set up the company Hotcourses in the early dot com days. By all accounts it was a cunt of a company to work for. When 9/11 hit and people were gathering to take events in up popped Hunt out of his office to ask people to quieten down as it was distracting the sales team.
  12. Fido K.19 has a folder with classic TV shows on that don’t need to be searched for or linked to RD.
  13. RoboDoc (2023) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5759360/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk 4 part mini series documentary on the making of seminal 80s film RoboCop. 9 bitches leave out of ten

  17. “Looks like class war’s back on the menu, boys!”
  18. Done quite a bit of the Russian revolutionary period on Revolutions but have started Age of Napoleon , and it’s great. Only 4 episodes but this was quality. This is a series of final lectures from one of Ireland’s leading professors on the Irish Revolution. Recommended.
