Abu Dhabi bought Manchester City, an average club with a string of previous bad owners who were in the shadow of their city neighbours.

Abramovich bought Chelsea, the poor relations in London with one title in their history and a much derided owner who flirted with relegation and bankruptcy.

Saudi Arabia bought a club with no trophies for 40 odd years and a penny pinching owner as they scraped along the basement of the League every year.

On this trend, Everton are a much more likely candidate for the Qataris than us.

What would we all think of that?

Boehly bucked the trend when he bought an established PL club virtually at the top of the market. No doubt he and his partners think there's room to make more money from the club but, at a supposed cost of £2.5bn plus £1bn supposedly for stadium redevelopment that at least half has been diverted to transfer funds within 6 months, I think it's a big ask.

Said it before, generally mega rich people dont like making other people mega rich by giving them their money for an 'asset.' They tend to buy a small outfits like PSG, chelsea at the time of Ken Bates' sale, city and now newcastle and pour their money into them.

Mansour supposedly looked at the shite before deciding on city. There's a host of clubs like the shite who could be ripe for a takeover so I still think it's luck whether they do hit the jackpot.

  2. Im pretty sure the players would rather play in the Europa League next season rather than not if we miss out on the CL.

Where's all this 'we're too good \ big to play in the Europa League' come from? People were clamouring to win the EFL Cup 12 months ago now, the EL is beneath us?

Yeah...actually a bit concerned we haven't got either of the 2 games we have to rearrange set - we clearly lost a potential window when we drew with Wolves in the cup and had to play a replay - but it could get messy and create a problem if we don't do something soon - other clubs already have and are, I don't understand why we aren't....things could become more complicated too if we progress in the cup and or europe.

Here explains how it could get messy...

Given our current form, Im quite happy we havent arranged those fixtures. Unless of form does improve, Im not optomistic about getting past Real so that could potentially free up some midweek slots later in the season.

If our form is still rank, it wont really matter when the games are played.

In what aspect were they the better team?

Chelsea might be the team we have struggled the most to break down over the last few years.

Its our fifth draw on the bounce against them now.

A win would have been great, but with our injuries up front it would always be difficult to break down that Chelsea defense, only three teams have conceded less than them.

Newcastle, Arsenal and City, City just one goal less.

A draw against Chelsea is a decent result, certainly nothing I lose any sleep over with our current injury situation.

You can produce reams and reams of stats but watching the game, it looked to me that 1 goal was going to win it, well except when Gakpo was in a great position just before he blazed it over the bar.

Much as I hoped, at no point in the game did I think we were going to get it. That Mudryk when he came on had a couple of really good chances.

I took that to mean he was referring to it being the board as a whole. I think he was paying lip service to the nonsensical ‘strategic review’ he announced they were carrying out months ago.

That would be a logical conclusion except he is controlling majority shareholder. He holds over 90% of the shares and certainly more than 51%. So the decision is his even if the board voted to keep Fwank on.

  6. George made an announcement over the tannoy during the game about homophobic chanting and how the club would impose a ban on anyone found guilty of doing so. Sounded like he said chanting had been heard at the ARE of the ground but I have to say, I didnt hear anything?

Was it a ground wide announcement or a targetted one?

Nevertheless, it pisses me off that the club makes no such announcement in the ground when chelsea fans started singing 'Always the victim' and 'Sign on.'

I don't think we have used the throw in guy for a couple of years now ( and it shows )

I thought there was talk at the end of last season or season before of not renewing his contract but thought we had.

If he has left, they need to get him back because most of our throw ins have been poor all season.

    41 minutes ago, AngryOfTuebrook said:

I was thinking that today. Our throw-ins are absolutely fucking shit.

Also, why was everyone falling over?

For whatever reason, even though the pitch is damp, they watered it before kick off and again at half time. But I put players losing their footing so often down to them wearing 'blades' and not proper half inch round studs in the heel and quarter inch on the sole of their boots!

  8. He had a chance in the 2nd half today, cut inside from the right and curled one with his left foot. Sailed miles over the bar and didnt trouble that arse Kepa.

The Mo of old would have at least tested the keeper with that.

Think someone said on here the 'competition' with Sadio brought the best out of both of them. Now there's only Mo, he doesnt look the same.

  9. This is really worrying. I dont call our players shit but there's something fundementally wrong with 'us' right now and there's no quick fix in my view.

Buying a new midfield isnt resolving this. Sorry to disagree with anyone who thinks spending a shitload on 2 or 3 midfield players will resolve things and fix it. I dont think it does because as I said, there's something fundementally wrong going on with the whole team.

I was looking forward to this, it's the first game Ive been able to get to since 12 November. I hoped that the result midweek would act as a spur to the team whether Jurgen stuck with the same players or, brought the 'big guns' back. It was mainly the same team with Alli in goal and Mo upfront so was pretty happy with that.

But within a couple of minutes of kick off, we fucking conceeded again and from another corner. Why is this still happening? You'd think the players would be on their toes considering the number of times it's happened but they just dont seem to learn. Frustratingly, it doesnt seem to make any difference which players we have in defence, it still happens.

I get that oppos will try and expose any weakness or lack of certainty by our players but come on, professional pride should have kicked in by now to make this conceeding almost from the kick off the exception not the rule.

From my seat down the other end, I couldnt see whether anyone was fouled, there'd been a handball or an offside as none of our players seemed to appeal to the reg or lino as anyone normally does when conceeding a goal.

I only realised there could be a VAR check when we took our time lining up for the kick off. chelsea players looked confident the goal was food and were lined up ready to go.

Eventually, the ref (Oliver?) signalled offside and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. It also got the crowd up and that was about the only good thing Oliver did for the rest of the game. He booked Bajcetic for a nothing tackle but didnt book Gallagher for 2 challenges he made that were worthy of a booking. Once again, he gave us 3 bookings to chelsea's 1. 2 off ours might have been but they certainly put in some robust tackles as well.

We hardly won any second balls. Passes either didnt reach their man, were behind the intended player or, the receiving player needed 2 or 3 touches. We created very little. The finishing from Gakpo was appalling. He had a great opportunity in the first half and blazed it miles over the bar.

Mo was pretty much anonymous all game. Darwin showed willing when he came on but I never thought any of them were going to score. As the first half draw on, I was beginning to think whoever scores a legit goal will win this and, my feeling was it wasnt going to be us who got the goal.

Bajcetic again showed some great touches. Thiago was giving the ball away and Keita just wouldnt get a foot in. We're supposed to have a throw in coach but our throw ins were poor and usually just gave chelsea possession. We played ourselves into trouble time and again taking short goal kicks and possession being lost 10-15m in front of our box. And we were caught offside far too often and too easily.

Even when Jurgen made changes, we didnt look or play any better. Frankly, leaving most of them to the 82nd minute to make changes in this game was far too late for them to have any impact. We dont have Div or Taki any more. That said, Im not sure the changes made earlier would have made a difference but why wait so long?

I dont know what's wrong. The players look like they dont believe in what they are being asked to do, cannot do what they are asked to do or just doing their own thing.

Walking down Anfield Road after the game, a few were muttering this looks like the time at the end of Ged or Rafa's time at Anfield or even the end of Rodgers' time.

I dont think it's there yet but it is worrying a team that was within 45 minutes of another PL title and 90 minutes from another CL title 6 months ago looks so bereft of ideas and belief and frankly looks what it is, mediocre.

Bajcetic, Gomez and Konate were the stand out players. MoTM is between Gomez and Konate but it's too close to call for me to separate them.

  10. chelsea just spent another £25m on Madueke from PSV. Yeah, me too!

In other news, chelsea's owners say any redevelopment work on the ground never mind 'new' ground has been put off till 2030 at least so dont know what to do with roughly a billion quid that was earmarked to pay for this project.

The PL continues to twiddle it's thumbs over chelsea's spending which is now said to exceed the combined spending of the whole of Ligue Un, Serie A and the Bundesliga in this window already, as there's some unwritten agreement chelsea's new owners can spend what they want and be exempt from FFP this season as they helped rid the Premier League of that naughty Russian man, Roman Abramovich.

Can't help but feel Real Madrid did to Liverpool, the same as Liverpool did to Barca.

Nah, it was the city villa result. Anyone would have a hard time convincing me if villa hadnt capitulated so spectacularly on the last day of the league season, that wouldnt have given us an extra bounce in our step in the CL final.

    I'd go

    Ali,

    Trent, Gomez, Konate, Robbo

    Keita Thiago Milner

    Mo Gakpo Darwin

I thought Bacjetic looked like a duck out of water against City's experienced midfield. Chelsea will have similar levels of talent and experience in midfield so I'd sit him out for this one.

I've gone with Milner but no issue if it's Jones or Elliott, shouldn't be Fab or Henderson.

Hardly surprising Bajcetic didnt fare well against city, far more experienced players in the Spurs midfield didnt exactly cut it last night.

I wouldnt start Bajcetic against chelsea right now but I think he's going to get better and better and if he does start for us, it would be better against the lesser sides this season.

The mere fact city top that list and Real Madrid by some margin should be all the authorities need to investigate their sham financing.

FA have written to all clubs clarifying that the "rent boy" chant is homophobic and will be treated as such.

I can't help feeling a bit smug that it was us - one of our fans' groups, our manager and our captain - who have taken the lead on this.

We live in more enlightened times, hopefully. The chant is now on a par with the 'runway' song and bar a few morons, we dont sing that any more thankfully.

Anyone else getting bored of the constant bitching and exaggerating of moaning twats all over the place?

Three of the last four seasons have been among the very best in the history of this club.  Now that we're having a rough season all the gloom-lovers are out in force, convinced that we're nailed on to finish no higher than where we are now.

Fuck that shit. The second half of the season will be better than the first and other teams who have overachieved so far will find their level.

People are free to express their frustration but some of the 'moaning' is well over the top in my opinion.

This is one season (we're about halfway through so it's not even over) when we havent played well. But Ive stood through 67 to 72 on the Kop when we bounced between 4th and 5th then 1990 to 2016 in the now SKD Upper when Jurgen arrived when we bounced more often than not between 4th and 8th. Sure there were some good seasons in the latter period, 92 when we won the cup was pretty dire, 2001, 2005 for example and there was only a couple of other seasons when we had a tilt at the title and came up short.

Ive stood and sat through far worse than this season. Many of the players we signed during the latter of those 2 spells were beyond dire as well.

We are poor right now, I think the players are mentally shot but when I think of some players we have had, still think we're spoilt. Hopefully, the players rediscover their mojo in the rest of the season. If they dont, Jurgen has to ship them out, simple as.

Has anyone logged in and out of different memberships to download ticket to wallet?

Friend has ST of another mate on  mates membership, but has CL ticket on his own membership. Can he  delete mates wallet, then load his own, then revert back.

The club normally says not to delete a the NFC ticket unless they tell you to do so.

Unless you've an unusual arrangement going on, Id say contact the club if no one else has a definitive answer. You might delete it but find you cannot reload after?
