  1. Freddie showing just how much he is out of his depth. Karma's a bitch, aint it gooners? They'll probably make a panic appointment after this shitfest.

Shame we play these twats away towards the end of the season, they will have had a new manager in for months by then.

  2. The thing what I like about Alisson is, he doesnt have to make gymnastic type super saves to make them look like world class saves. His positioning, in the main, means he's nearly always in the right position to make the block and keep the ball out.

That's not to say he doesnt have the qualities to make gymnastic type saves. The one he made late in the game away at Burnley with the score 1-1, was one of THE best world class saves I seen any keeper make since Gordon Bank's effort to keep Pele's header out in Mexico.

That's not just because it stopped Burnley going 2-1 up late in the game but because he had little time to react and even if the ball had of been square, it couldnt have got closer to the angle of post and bar. And that's just about the worst place any keeper wants to see the ball heading.

I hate to say it but ederson is a very good keeper. If we didnt have Ali, he'd be a good alternative. But for me, Ali is the number 1.

3 points at a time. Not looking beyond the next match. See where we are in May.

This. Last season, I used the result forecaster that the Echo used every so often. Despite being as honest as I could with the results, I always had us beating city to the title. Not going to fall for that one again.

  4. I keep saying Lampard is tactically inept. His players got him 6 or 7 wins on the bounce against the league's cannon fodder. But come up against a workman like side that's well organised and you need more than just the players, to win.

Some people dont like Eddie Howe but Im made up for the fella. Both he and his teams try to play football and the result will take pressure off them.

Speaking of pressure, it might just be starting to get to Leicester. An unsavoury incident when Norwich put the ball out for injury and Leicester instead took an attacking throw in that they tried to score from. So they dropped 2 points and are now 10 points behind. That gives us a bit more breathing space especially as we miss a league game due to the WCC.

Leicester still have to play city twice in the league dont forget. They'll have to be on the very top of their game to get 3 points off city unless city take their foot off the gas now they are so far back. Would they? I dont know but it wouldnt surprise me one jot, might as well miss the title by a mile rather than 11 points, eh?

It all takes the pressure off our game against Leicester a little but that doesnt mean we can take our foot off the gas.

  5. 3 points and a clean sheet, that's all that really mattered today especially given how close these league games are going to come through the rest of December and early January.

It was fecking freezing in the ground so I dont know how the players felt. Sadio came out for the 2nd half with an undershirt and gloves!

It wasnt a good performance. I dont know whether it was tiredness, the weather, the new manager bounce, shit VAR or all of these.

Despite that, the tension in some of the crowd didnt help. For fuck's sake, calm down a little. The boys are going to need all the help they can get and giving them shit when they arent playing well doesnt help. Yeah, I know it's immensly frustrating when Bobby, Trent and Shaq are losing the ball but we need to show them we're right behind them when they find it tough.

Watford really could and should have scored at least two but comedy finishing by their players meant they didnt. You wonder if deeney had been on the end of those 2 guilt edge chances if the story would be different. Thankfully, we'll never know because he wasnt.

Ali still had to make some important blocks. Virgil even tried his best to roll the ball past him into the net at 1-0. Fortunately it went inches wide of the post. But even these danger signals couldnt seem to rouse the boys from their torpor and even the atmos in the ground was kind of subdued.

The ex bluenose was giving Trent a ragging all game and Ithought Shaq really should have been giving him some help. Mind you, some of trent's balls and positioning were not the best!

The big talking point must be VAR. From my position in the SKD down the Annie Road end, I couldnt tell if anyone is offside. But Sadio nodded it in and asked the question later.

I didnt see any watford claim offside. Neither did the ref  and the lino seem to think there was a hint of it. Everyone lined up for the kick off so what was the problem? You dont know in the ground, you just get the VAR announcement and everyone, players, officials and fans not having a clue what's going on. Maybe a big screen would let people see but really, just fuck off chalking off goals for millimeters.

The goal was ruled out but no one knew why. After the game, I heard Sadio's hip was offside. If that's right, it's as pathetic as Bobby's armpit 'goal'!

Mo scored another and he did look almost impossible to be onside, right on the goal line, I was certain this was going to be rubbed off as well. Again, the ref gave it, everyone lined up for kick off and waited. One watford player tried to apply pressure and picked the ball up and tried to send it back to the keeper but the ref stopped him.

After an age it was eventually given to great relief. Lad next to me said there was also a watford player and keeper on the goal line but to be honest, I dont know.

Now I agree with VAR but mike riley has made the whole process a real shitshow. If mane's hip is offside, that's not good enough. Next year's review of VAR offside isnt good enough, this needs sorting now.

So that's our last league game until after the world club cup. Some of the players look shattered to me and Gini limping off doesnt help. Can someone please give Hendo some shooting practice, please? He had a couple of decent chances but keeps skying them!

Can someone also explain how both Adrian and Ali have been booked for time wasting this season yet every keeper who comes to Anfield is allowed to waste all the time they want, especially in the first half and, never get booked?

At the end of the day, these are the type of performances that win titles, play poor but still get the point. We just need to get the rub of the green and not pick up too many more injuries.

Liverpool, Liverpool, top of the league! Liverpool, top of the league!

  6. I hope there's something to all this speculation, we'd end up looking like chumps if it all comes to nothing. Would be a very good player to pick up for under £8m as well.

Not arsed one jot if his 'true' value is £20m+ or not, if we buy him, we will be buying him because he'd be a great addition to the squad. And he can play in the next round of the CL seeing as they changed the cup tied rule.

  7. I thought Bobby had a very poor game yesterday as well. But I'll forgive him because I love him to bits. Mo and Sadio's finishing was pretty poor all game even if Mo did excellently scoring from that angle. Made up Ali got another clean sheet, Im sick of people in the media saying we are 'leaking' goals(!) and cannot keep a clean sheet.

Joe seemed to be comfortable when he came on and had to play in his natural position. If Degsy is out for Saturday as I expect, it gives Joe more chance to rekindle his partnership with Virgil. And that was phenonmenal until his injury.

  8. Well it seems churlish to be critical but overall, great result while the in game management and finishing could have been a lot, lot better. Mo and Sadio missed a hat full of chances and the first half, I was having kittens the way we just seemed to want to go toe to toe with them instead of being a bit savvy, slowing the game down and concentrating a bit more.

That first half in particular was just crazy, you couldnt have complained if the score had been 5-4 to them, 5-4 to us or even 5-5. I really thought it was that crazy.

The 2 goals in a minute killed them thankfully and gave us breathing space. Hopefully topping the group gives us the advantage whoever we draw and we can forget about the CL until next year and concentrate on the PL.

    On to Anfield and Watford.

  9. Had to pop out when the lads brought it back to 2-2 so didnt see the last 12 minutes or so. I thought it was going to be a bad day when they went 2 behind after about 30 minutes to be honest.

Great news to see they snatched the victory at the end as the Salzburg lads all looked big for their age!
