My stand point was that nothing, and I mean nothing, must stand in the way of winning the league this season. Even despite winning the CL last season, missing the league by 1 point was heartbraking to me. We've the 'distinction' of being the only club to have topped the League 3 times at Christmas but not won the league.

Im sounding like a broken record but I couldnt care less about the domestic cups until we land 19. Of course I never want us to lose or throw a game. The young lads who've played in the EFL Cup had my total support. They wore the shirt, they are Liverpool.

I was ok from the off with Jurgen using the 'elite' squad for this World Club Cup. But even then, I didnt want this to be a distraction or interference with the league.

But again, once the competition started, I wanted us to win. Im made up we won. We are World Champions. I want to club to wear the badge. I think we should ask the PL and FA to wear it. If they refuse, we should wear it anyway. Im serious. Take the fine and fuck 'em.

As for the game, when both Bobby and Naby missed those early chances, my mind started to think maybe the football gods were not going to smile on us. Flamengo showed some very nice touches on the ball that at times, made it look like we were chasing shadows.

They were getting corner after corner. Then Hendo got hauled down in the box and the ref gave them the free kick! Trent bombed in a shot that was inches wide. Bobby hit the post when it seemed he couldnt miss. Hendo strikes a ball destined for the top bin and the keeper claws it out. Alisson finger tipped a ball away from a Flamengo player's toe. I was getting real nervy.

In the final minute of normal time, we had the penalty farce. OK, contact was outside the box, just but to not even get a free kick? Incredible.

Finally, in extra time, Hendo picked out Sadio. A quick turn and lay off for Bobby. Surely he's not going to miss this time? No he did not and it's display your tats time!

Was it worth it? You can bet your bottom dollar all these oppo fans saying we should have played a stronger team in the EFL Cup and this is as good as the Community Shield, would be saying the opposite if we'd have lost.

As for the league, the city result went as I expected with Leicester losing. Our game in hand might not be as easy in reality as it looks on paper. We seem to struggle against west ham and they might even have a new manager by the time we play them.

Going big on making the fans feel nice and cozy for Christmas, also announced plans for the unicorn, sorry new stadium at the same time! They'll be wanking themselves blind right now.

Funny how united fans say they've been 'World Champions' twice, once winning the Intercontinental Cup and once the enlarged competition we just won. Yet they say because we havent won the PL, we havent have been Champions of England and the 'score' is 13 - 0 to them? Nobs.

Yes, could be. Maybe they said it about Bradford or even Cardiff when we played them. I did think Villa had been relegated before then so thanks for pointing that out.

The matches could be played on the same dates as the European fixtures. Would solve a lot of problems.

 

 

It's the EFL Cup. It should be for EFL members not PL clubs whether they are in UEFA competition or not. In my very humble opinion.

If I was chairman of an EFL club, Id be pretty pissed off none of the EFL clubs have much chance of getting to the semis never mind the final. And even if an EFL club did win it, the FA would likely not submit them for a Europa League place.

Im pretty sure since 2010 when Villa a Championship club got to the final, the FA said they wouldnt submit them for a European place if they or subsequent Championship clubs won it.

Hendo's biggest problem is he doesnt score goals. if he had weighed in with 5, 6, 7 or 8 goals a season, many people wouldnt have given him such a hard time over the years.

Ive always said a number of incidents cost us the title in 2014. Obviously all the haters uses Stevie's slip. There were others of course but to me, the telling point was his sending off in the last minute of that 3-2 city game.

His 3 game suspension was very telling.

Course there'll always be those who go on about the sideways passes while ignoring the fact we're keeping possession of the ball. Everyone else in the team is allowed to pass backwards and sideways but no, not Henderson. It's a cardinal sin when he does it.

It's clear his teammates are more than happy he's the captain. Milner even said at the Champions League trophy presentation if anyone including the manager tried to pick up 'that trophy' before Hendo, that they'd have to go through him first.

Would have been great if his shot last night had of beaten the keeper. Im hoping to see him lift an even bigger trophy in May.

Just been watching Jurgen post game presser again. Right at the end they said Monterrey wanted to make a presentation to him but then they said they'd do it after the presser was over.

Anyone know what they gave him?

Im absolutely made up for everyone connected to Liverpool FC. The fans, the playing staff, the backroom staff, the ground stand, the canteen staff, the office staff etc.

Thought hendo had a brilliant game tonight. It was he 50 yard pass to Sadio that opened Flamengo up. A bit better control by Sadio and he might have gone on to score instead of Bobby.

So according to FIFA, we are allowed to wear the World Champions badge on our 1st team shirt from right now. UEFA will allow the club to wear it but apparently, the Premier League will not because it isnt an official club badge! WTF? We could wear it in the FA Cup but have to make an application to wear it which must first be sanctioned.

What fucking woeful coverage by BBC. That simply appalling. Watched the game on BBC and then right at the end they said, oh we run out of time, you can watch on iplayer. So logged into iplayer to see them hand the medals out and they cut it off just as Jordan was handed the fucking trophy! Seriously!?

I was beginning to think our name wasnt on this when Bobby slapped that easy finish into the ground and onto the post. And how the fuck did they get away scot free with the VAR incident? That's one of a pen or a free kick to us. Yet he gives them the drop ball? Fucking lunacy.

Very sad news about Marrtin Peters, RIP.

We've been very slack with possession, too many attempted flicks and two glorious chances missed in the first few minutes which would have settled nerves.

Think Ox is really struggling and he's been very wasteful, losing possession far too cheaply. Mo's touch has been very poor and Sadio allowed himself to get drawn in and booked for a foul that should have been his way.

I dont know how they got away with hauling Hendo down in the box.

What's happened to Mo, Sadio and Bobby's link up play? Compared to a couple of years ago everything was to feet, first time and pretty deadly. Now they each seem to want one touch too many although they arent the only ones.

If Gini is fit enough to play, Id put him on for Ox.

Considering this is an 'unimportant' trophy if you listen to some, Im getting a bit of a squeaky bum with the apprehension. And I dont normally get a squeaky bum before games. Come on, boys!
