  1. A lot of sense in this. There's no point sending them on loan to 'see what they can do' if we're just going to bin them off.
  2. Echo now suggesting the 'royalties' isnt 30% but 'up to 20%'?
  3. Bottom line is everton fans cannot stomach the fact that their position as the 'senior' club in the city never mind as seen as such within the country, has been long been usurped by its younger one which has, gone on to grow and be far more successful by just about any measure you choose. This, despite the 'younger' club having a few periods in it's history when it wasnt successful yet has more league titles, more European titles, won both domestic cups more times and now, has attained World Club Champions status. Fuck 'em!
  4. That's the one westerveld said his feet were cold because the pitch was wet and had no undersoil heating so he couldnt move quickly!
  5. Our game is live on BBC 1 and iPlayer on Sunday 26th, 5pm kick off.
  6. Do you know who the first English team to be banned from UEFA competition was? Manchester United in 1978. Their fans rioted at St Etienne in a Cup Winner Cup 1st leg game. It was, as you mention, yet another example of English fans smashing up places. UEFA banned united and chucked them out of the competition. But, they appealled and if I remember right, St Etienne even supported them! They were re instated and made to play the 2nd leg at Plymouth which they won.
  7. Im not sure about Scottish League regulations but in England, a club can only take one loanee from the parent club per season ie no one English club could have 2 Liverpool loanees in their squad at the same time. So unless there's no such rule in Scotland, it would only be one at a time and have to agreed to the player playing in something like 75% of first team games. They're the same conditions we apply to any of the young lads going out on loan. If they dont play, the club doing the loan has to pay us an additional fee.
  8. I dont know if that 'piece' copies through to my post but it is a funny read. Yet again it highlights the undercurrents of the parochial mindset of the bluenose hordes. They yearn for their club to be recognised not just within England, Europe and beyond, yet refuse to allow the mere thought of wider appeal be a reality. Yes, you possibly could relocate Liverpool FC to another location and in some respects, things wouldnt change. The same can be said of Real, Barcelona, the two Milan clubs, Juve, maybe even celtic and rangers. Guess what? That's what world wide appeal gets you and having a parochial outlook doesnt. If everton fans truely want their club to remain a small fish in the football ocean, that's fair enough. But stop banging on about Liverpool and other clubs being the cetaceous giants in the same ocean because they have 'evolved' and you havent. Fucking eejits.
  9. Well, well, well,no surprise here. The lad's a complete dick. He has all the makings of the 2nd Ravel Morrison. Bobby Duncan has ditched the agent who helped force his move out of Liverpool last year. Duncan courted controversy in August when his desire to leave the Reds was made public in an incendiary social media post from then agent Saif Rubie. Rubie took a swipe at Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and claimed the player had "suffered some deep mental health issues with all the stress the club has put him under" after the Reds turned down an initial approach from Fiorentina. Liverpool, who strongly denied the allegations, ultimately reached an agreement with the Italian side a few days later for a £1.8million fee with a 20% sell-on clause included in the terms. But now 18-year-old Duncan, who has changed agents several times already during his fledgling career, has announced he will be represented by German SportsTotal agency. Duncan will be represented by the firm’s CEO Sascha Breese, who can count Real Madrid's Toni Kroos among his personal clients. The forward has yet to make an appearance for the Fiorentina first team but has scored four times in nine appearances for their under-19 side, although his last goal came in October. He is now expected to pursue a loan move this month in order to gain senior experience elsewhere. Rubie, meanwhile, is currently serving a five-week ban imposed by the Football Association after being found guilty of historic improper use of social media. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bobby-duncan-splits-controversial-agent-17537046
  10. If you're over 21 and being loaned out by Liverpool, your chances of making our current first team are very remote. In my humble opinion. That said, I wouldnt write Wilson off on the back of an alleged poor game or so in isolation. If he'd been at the club, he'd likely have started all the domestic cup games we've played this season.
  11. Haha, yes, that would be some dilemma for them! Even better, more continuity for them!
  12. Im torn between wanting to see united and in particular, their fans, suffer and go 20 - 30 years without a league title but not sack solskjaer as a result. He could be their Souness, as a manager and, oversee their collapse.
  13. Lucky bastards! I used to love watching Serie A on a Sunday. Cant watch it now they sold the rights off to yet another rip off merchant.
  14. Yep, great news even if he can only make the bench for united like the Ox did against everton.
  15. Some accolade this! Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus has lauded Jordan Henderson by describing the Liverpool captain as the best midfielder in the world. Jesus saw Henderson up close when Liverpool defeated Jesus' Flamengo side 1-0 in the Club World Cup final. The Reds needed extra time to be crowned world champions with Roberto Firmino scoring the winning goal in the 99th minute during the December fixture. Despite Firmino's goalscoring exploits, it was Henderson who stole the attention of Jesus which has led to the Flamengo manager's praise. Jesus told CMTV: 'Henderson is the best midfielder in the world in his position. '[Jurgen Klopp] never drops him, but the two offensive midfielders, [Naby] Keita and [Georginio] Wijnaldum, sometimes are replaced. 'The others players are always the same.' Henderson looks set to become the first Liverpool captain to lift the Premier League title this season as Jurgen Klopp's side are 13 points clear of second-placed Leicester with a game in hand. The 29-year-old is also a key member of Gareth Southgate's England side and is likely to start for the Three Lions next summer during the European Championship. Henderson's Liverpool face a tricky trip to face Jose Mourinho's Tottenham on Saturday and then host rivals Manchester United next Sunday as they continue their quest to win their first Premier League title. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7864547/Jordan-Henderson-worlds-best-midfielder-Flamengo-boss-hails-Liverpool-captain.html
  16. Strangely, the feelings of defeat have got worse as Ive got older! Cup defeats, being at Villa Park for that FA Cup semi we lost to Palace is up there as is losing the 71 final to arsenal in extra time and the 88 final against Wimbledon. League defeats, being on the Kop in 89 when we lost that last game 2-0 to arsenal, losing by the same score to chelsea at home in 2014 then losing a 3-0 lead at Palace in the same season. European defeats, Cup Winners Cup final defeat against Dortmund in 66, losing the Fairs Cup semi 1st leg to Leeds in 71 and a Bremner goal, Brucie's walkabout that cost us a goal and a Champions Cup tie against CSKA after we'd snotted them a season or two previous. But I think the absolute worst I felt was the Champions Cup Final against Juve in 85. All those people died at a football match and I felt it was a real low for the club and for me personally.
  17. Not a transfer as such but couldnt find anywhere suitable: arsenal are fighting to prevent highly-respected head of medical services Gary O'Driscoll from joining Liverpool. Andrew Massey, the Reds' current head of medical services, is set to leave Anfield to take up a similar role at world football's governing body FIFA, a position he is due to take up from March 1. The Premier League leaders have already begun the process of identifying candidates to replace Massey - and Sportsmail understands the Gunners' top doctor O'Driscoll is emerging as a leading contender for the soon-to-be vacant position. O'Driscoll is widely recognised as being one of the best in his field and Arsenal are determined to keep him at the Emirates. But the lure of joining the current Champions League holders and Premier League champions elect is understandably a tempting proposition for the doctor, who has been at Arsenal since 2009. He has roots in the north-west having spent a period working in Manchester during the 2000s, so a move to Liverpool could suit. O'Driscoll, who has held lead positions with the British Lions and Ireland rugby team, survived a cull of senior backroom staff following the departure of Arsene Wenger in 2018. At the time, the manner in which some of their former colleagues were treated by Arsenal in the aftermath of Wenger's exit disappointed members of staff of who remain at the club to this day. But the return of Mikel Arteta as manager has raised hope of a brighter future at the Emirates Stadium and there is hope the renewed optimism around the club can play a part in persuading O'Driscoll to remain in London. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7862073/Liverpool-target-Arsenals-head-medical-services-Gary-ODriscoll-replace-Andrew-Massey.html
  18. Just been voted African Player of the Year. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51020846 Liverpool's Sadio Mane has been named the Confederation of African Football's (Caf) Player of the Year. The Senegal forward beat Liverpool team-mate and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez to the award. Mane, 27, helped the Reds to the 2018-19 Champions League title, scoring 30 goals in all competitions last season. He has scored 15 goals so far in 2019-20, with Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. "I'm really happy and proud to win this. Football is my job, I love it," said Mane. "I would like to thank my family, my national team, staff, the federation and Liverpool Football Club. It's a big day for me." Mane collected his award at a ceremony in Hurghada, Egypt but neither Salah, who had won the award in both the past two years, nor Mahrez were present. Mane has finished in the award's top three for the last three years, and has long targeted the prize in order to emulate the achievement of one of his heroes, former Liverpool striker El Hadji Diouf, who won it in 2002.
  19. If they get hammered, I think there's a real danger they'll get rid of solskjaer before they play us and install Pochettino.
  20. Please, please dont humiliate them and get the gimp sacked!
  21. Hopefully Brewster can kick on with his development at Swansea. I think the lad is going to struggle to become a fixture in our first team. That's not a reflection on him, it's just that we are so good a player needs to be exceptional to get ahead of Mo, Sadio and Bobby.
  22. Jesus, thanks. That is a tenuous link and the jouro's a fucking disgrace if he thinks the Kop flag is in any way remotely like the Heysel flag some of the shite drag around.
  23. Unless you're a 'stellar' player and can write your own contract terms, just about every club operates a basic wage with bonuses for appearances, goals, competition etc to some level. When Bobby first signed it was well known his contract was heavily on goal bonuses. Id imagine Naby will be on a basic with bonuses for domestic and European appearances. Maybe there's a goal bonus as well. His basic is supposed to be around £120k a week. That's from the same source that gave Gomez as being on £28k a week, Trent £40k and Robbo £50k!
