Wouldn't be shocked at all if Awoniyi,Shaqiri or Origi are here next year as the back up. We have the front three plus Jota and Elliot.

Same in midfield, unless we can shift who we need to i can see us making do.

I'd be very surprised if they are both here. Shaq has had a decent tournament and I think Origi will push for a move as he needs to. Awoniyi should surely be easy enough to shift?

Saying that - you are probably right, not to be surprised! I'm surprised they are here now. So, yeah, second thoughts you are probably right.

While I agree on the points about Aguero / Kane and Silva / Grealish, City won the league in a canter last season without Aguero really featuring and Silva having left the club.

Although very good still, personally, I don’t think City are as good as the 100+ & 98 points seasons. I think supporters being back and hounding them and urging their own sides on next season will prove that. I also think there is potential that if City lose Sterling / Jesus / Laporte to sign Kane (as well as losing Aguero and Eric Garcia), they are potentially weakening their squad.

They lost 6 games though! They were far from the dominant side of 2017-19 - pundits reflex to lavish them with praise was ridiculous. They won a flawed league with a flawed team - nothing about last year was normal and for a team with an abnormal squad they were able to roll with the punches better, that is all. I think if Sterling goes, Jesus and Laporte then yes they are - Ake is painfully shit, so suddenly he is 3rd choice. Sterling is a great player - and I'd rather TAA faces Grealish than him.

Lets see. Those on here presenting them with the trophy are pretty much the same ones who gave up in 2018.

  3. Well if our players have proved to be unreliable what does that make Grealish and Kane? No better certainly. Is Kane better than Aguero? I don't think he is. Is Grealish better than Silva? Again, no. City exist on a different financial planet to the rest of us - and this may be the summer that scales truly fall from everybody else's eyes as to what they are about. The midst of a pandemic - no fans, every club in the country cutting costs and there they are spending £200m plus.

I do hope the rumours of no more players are just that. I think that would be the height of hubris to think this team doesn't need a bit of a push. A midfielder and a versatile forward are exactly what we need. I'd be all over Berge if the rumours of £10m are correct - and Malen would be a great choice from what I have seen so far. I would like another Milner, someone who can fill in at right back, and midfield.

    It's a newspaper.

It's a local newspaper. It needs the club and it needs to write on the club. They get access for being a compliant mouthpiece. Nothing wrong with that. I don't really recall too many scoops from the Echo since digital.

Must admit I'm not seeing the correlation here.

That's because you're irrational and lack perspective!

Have you got any official links to this? I ask because I can't find any.

I did, however, attend a UEFA seminar many years ago in Dubai, and the official there explained the idea as encouraging the away team "to be more attack minded" as they would often settle for a clean sheet, particularly in the first leg.

Not sure who you are sir! I've not been to anything as grand as UEFA seminars in Dubai - I did a sports night with Jeff Winter in the Derbyshire years ago!  Not sure on your point of view, no proof but the old European cup as you know was arbitrary - I'd always assumed it was to even up a second leg home tie.

Considering how defensive European Football used to be UEFA got that wrong.

That was the point being made.

I realise that. And I do get what you say and I don't disagree with it. But, this team has pissed a fair few of that lot off - which is why I am less dismissive than previous. I think my point is that national sport brings out nationalism.

I don't care - come 8pm Tuesday I'll be mildly happy or mildly happy, depending upon the result.

  8. Away Goals rule scrapped as of next year! If level after 90 minutes of the second leg there will be extra time! Not sure how I feel about this. Seems a big advantage to playing at home second leg - which the away goals was supposed to counter.

First time I'd ever been to Anfield that. We were sat in the Centenary right below where the scoreboard and control room are now. Great view for the penalty shoot-out at the Kop end.

Nice! I never got to go to any of the games. I wish I had - would have loved to watch the Dutch.

The rag have started it already today.

They will. All that lot will. It's what they do. But they did it during the Rugby World Cup as well, and they'll do it during the Ashes. We don't fuck those teams off - I don't follow Rugby, but I fucking love Cricket and love the Ashes and love twatting the Aussies. I know loads of England fans who are sound - been loads out in the pubs in the City Centre, who have been sound.

Every nationalist and racist in every country is going to follow their national team.

Germany v Netherlands is a much bigger match than Germany v England. Massive hatred in the footy.

It is - I remember 96 in the City Centre and after the Dutch had lost to France, lots of Dutch fans telling us to 'fuck the Germans'!

Don't think the Germans are arsed about England! They do beat England though, whereas you have beaten them quite often.

Which is strange as they have Goretzka in the side and are playing Kimmich wide.

Aye, they won in 2014 with Kramer in the team, they seem fixed on Kroos there though.

  13. This German defence is poor - and no defensive midfielder. England can win, they have players who have won the biggest trophies there is - the Germans were poor yesterday, so debateable if they are improving. I just don't rate the German defence at all - it is very average.

But, the England midfield without Henderson is very poor as well, the German midfield is so much better than England. I don't think it is a clear cut as some are making it out, but if I am pushed I'd say Germany because they tend to be better at tournaments than England.

  14. I remember when Ken Bigley was held captive walking down his parents street - it was roughly Halloween, and in the Window opposite her house was a 6ft skeleton!

Never let empathy get in the way of a Halloween party!
