  1. I agree about relatively minimal benefits. Though, the ownership doesn’t dictate whether or not people can strike, nor does it mean there will be more people joining unions. We have state run police, health, and fire. Labour doesn’t control when they strike now and they wouldn’t if they nationalised other areas. The power would be gained by unions, if anybody. I don’t see much reason to buy into this as a reason for Labour wanting to nationalise things.
  2. Well, before judging this theory, I’d like to hear how this benefits Labour in any real tactical or strategically significant way, considering they already have the support of the unions. I’m struggling to understand what you’re suggesting is the upside for Labour, other than you concluding the workforce will support labour and also somehow combat non-socialist governments, which is a bit of a leap. Are you saying owning the railways and utilities will make those people vote for Labour? I think it’s much much more likely that it is a long held ideologically driven opinion that has lead to the policy.
  3. I like Ake, but this is fucking ridiculous.
  4. I’m not sure looking back at decades old rail use is going to be that enlightening to how future privatisation could work, anymore than it would be enlightening to talk about how it used to be before the NHS when talking about private involvement in current medical services. The ideal that if things were poor years ago that they’d be poor now is a flawed one. Even if I personally wouldn’t do it, at least as part of the next parliament. It’s not like it’s currently horrendous and people are dying all over the place and fares are ridiculous or there’s no trains or something. It’s not perfect but it’s serviceable for now. Much more important is getting Brexit either avoided or the impact of it reduced. We also need to have a proper look at how democracy is working in the UK. Hint: it isn’t. We need to protect the NHS and make sure it is well funded. We need to make sure the social safety net is there and working for those who need it. For me, although us paying a lot to subsidise the private enterprise in the rail services, and to my mind that blows, it’s just not a pressing issue.
  5. Everybody wanted to win, we just aren't equating it to a massive loss so that we can make out that it's more important than it was in order to criticise.
  6. You're more than free to care. The reality is they've bought a really good team and bought a really good manager, and we are right up there with them. I can't bring myself to care about a small club who are buying things. If their owner fucked off tomorrow, they'd be back sucking cocks for cigarette butts.
  7. I think we performed really well. We didn't win, I don't really care. But it shows, for me, that we're looking good again this season.
  8. He got the ball, he says. Just as the reply shows him not touching the cunting ball.
  9. Decent enough first half. Sloppy for the goal but had a good few chances. Playing probably the best all-round side in the world right now.
  10. Insightful Glenn Hoddle is insightful with his insightful commentary.
  11. I too am a bit disappointed we added nobody at all. I don't think the world is ending, but not signing a quality player to join the side is a bit disappointing. I only care if it's the manager's choice or the owners restricting him. If it's the former, then fine. If it's the owners, then it's a problem.
  12. I actually couldn't get through the article. It's poorly written and far too obvious in its bullshit. Also, he does realise which paper he's writing for, right?
  13. It’s hard to be sympathetic when this happens. Obviously very sorry for the individual victims, it’s a tragedy. I just can’t get over the fact that the nation has chosen that this is acceptable as a consequence of ‘freedom’. This - mass shootings - happens time and time again. Nothing changes.
