  1. i had a digital HireVue interview last week for a high end bio company. What a shitshow that was.
  2. With regards to Fulham's 'loser' tag, maybe I shouldn't mention the fact that we failed to beat them - twice!
  3. Not a film, but the scene in Band of Brothers where they're hiding in the foxholes in the forest during the Battle of the Bulge while the Germans are shelling the fuck out of them. I was nearly hitting the ceiling with every explosion.
  4. More good data on the AZ vaccine. https://www.ovg.ox.ac.uk/news/usa-chile-and-peru-interim-trial-data-show-oxford-astrazeneca-vaccine-is-safe-and-highly-effective
  5. Have you tried looking in the Congo? I believe it's big over there.
  6. Survived my first 24 hours post-AZ jab. Nothing more than a very slight feeling like I'm coming down with a cold, and a sore arm where the needle went in.
  7. Something big must have happened behind the scenes. I've never seen any team, never mind us, completely fall off a cliff like this. We were top at Christmas having just put 7 past Palace, this isn't normal.
  8. Nice one! I have epilepsy so have been able to book myself in for the 24th March. Think I'd be waiting until next year if I relied on my doctors.
  9. We're going to have to go full 2005 now. Fuck the league off and go all out to win the champions league. No, me neither.
  10. We can't keep playing this high line with the full backs half way up the pitch without real pace at centre half. It's too easy to counter us and every fucking team knows it.
  11. According to that article (which was published in September last year so is probably already miles out of date), the R0 of SARS "in the absence of intervention and control measures" was approx. 3. Also in the article: "Designating [Covid19] cases on the Japanese cruise ship Diamond Princess as a group, the R0 value was about 2.28 at the beginning of the outbreak. Another analysis of over 400 cases confirmed in Wuhan estimated that the R0 value was 2.2." Still leaves the question as to the severity of the epidemic caused by covid19 compared to SARS.
  12. Which then begs the question as to why covid has run riot around the world when SARS did not? (I do not know the answer to this btw).
  13. What's the rush? A bit of time taken now will hopefully ensure that we never have to go into lockdown again.
  14. Saint & Greavsie was a huge part of my childhood, and he was my Dad's favourite player. RIP.
  15. Ran 59:35 for 10K on Saturday and as completely chuffed about it as I am, fuck me, am I suffering for it now! I couldn't move yesterday and I'm still in pain today. I think I'm actually creaking as I walk upstairs. It wasn't even meant but the weather really helped, and when I got to 5K in sub-30 minutes I thought just go for it. Unfortunately, a miscalculation in my route meant that the last 200 metres was uphill and nearly killed me! I was on the floor at the end for at least 10 minutes and had 3 people walking past ask me if I was ok. Might go back down to 5K for a couple of weeks before I build up the desire to put myself through 10K like that again.
  16. Fuck me that's fast! My best is 26:43 and I couldn't move for about 15 minutes at the end of that.
  17. I don't know enough about it to put any kind of timescale on it but there are only so many changes that can occur in the protein sequence that not only maintain the integrity of the spike protein but also increase it's binding efficiency. In the short term that may mean a fair number of variants appearing as the virus adapts to it's new human hosts, but over the longer term that will dwindle significantly. In the short term it's very realistic that booster shots targeted to new variants will be required but, as I have said, mutations within the spike protein will dwindle significantly over the longer term, meaning the tweaking of the vaccines will become less and less of a requirement.
