  1. This as long as they're making cash just doesnt sit with me. They have a successful sports 'franchise' and all yanks love a winner. I dont think theyre in any game just to come second (or in our case 6th!). I genuinely think they want to try and do things 'smarter' and not just throw shitloads of money they dont have at the club. That word again 'if' we had won the title the season before last, would people really be saying theyre happy just to make cash?
  2. Seems incredible that the player is the only one being punished here but given that its russia Im not surprised. Emmanuel Frimpong sent off over gesture after fans make monkey chants • Former Arsenal player faces ban after response to Spartak Moscow fans’ chants • Frimpong was later criticised by the general director of his club, FC Ufa Emmanuel Frimpong was criticised by his club’s general director who said: ‘Sometimes you have to hold back the tears and just put up with it.’ Photograph: Stuart Macfarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images Agencies Saturday 18 July 2015 00.15 BST Last modified on Saturday 18 July 2015 00.35 BST Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via Email Share on Pinterest Share on LinkedIn Share on Google+ Shares1,302 The former Arsenal player Emmanuel Frimpong was criticised by his own club and now faces a multi-game ban after he was sent off in Russia for his response to racist chants from opposing supporters. Spartak Moscow fans barred from two away games over racist banner Read more The Ghanaian midfielder says he was subjected to monkey chants by Spartak Moscow fans while playing for FC Ufa in the opening game of the Russian Premier League season on Friday. The game ended 2-2. Frimpong gestured with a finger toward the Spartak stands in the 31st minute, for which he received a straight red card. Afterwards he said on Twitter that he had been “racially abused for the game that I love”. “When the match was stopped, the fans started shouting ‘monkey’ at me,” he told reporters. “Then the monkey chants started. I don’t have any problems with the Spartak fans in general. I just did not keep my cool, I showed my emotions and it was my mistake. I want to say sorry for what I did.” The Ufa general director, Shamil Gazizov, said his club would not seek any punishment against Spartak: “It was an unfortunate incident. There were people who could have shouted things. These are emotions which go away after the game. We are partners with the red and whites and are on good terms. “What Frimpong did was wrong. Sometimes you even have to hold back the tears and just put up with it.” In a series of tweets he later said: “Want to apologize for the sending off after being provoked shouldn’t have happened but also am a human being shouldn’t be racially abused for the game that I love. “Fantastic result to draw with Spartak proud of team and I’m going to serve a sentence for being abused … and yet we going to hold a World Cup in this country where African will have to come play football. “I must stressed not all Spartak fans done that only one person had to ruin it Spartak fans were brilliant and created a good atmosphere shame one person ruin it.” Three other black players have been punished for between two and four games since 2013 for making insulting gestures in reaction to racist abuse in the Russian league. A recent report revealed over 100 racism-related incidents in football over two seasons in the country.
  3. I'll be back!! Robot passes self-awareness test A simple experiment has shown that robots have greater self awareness and deductive powers than previously thought By David Millward, US Correspondent 12:37AM BST 18 Jul 2015 Robots might be even cleverer than we realised. A simple experiment carried out in New York has demonstrated that robots not only have greater powers of deduction than previously acknowledged but are also aware of their own limitations. Scientists at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York built three robots who were all put through what is known as the “three wise men” test.It sounds like a child’s fable. The robots played the role of the three wisest men in the kingdom who were summoned by the monarch to his court. In the tale, the king placed a blue or white hat on the wise men’s heads - without telling them which colour they have been given. The first sage to deduce the colour of his hat was appointed as the king’s adviser. In the New York experiment, the test was tweaked by Selmer Bringsjord. Two of the robots were programmed to be unable to talk, the third was not. All three were then asked to say who who had the power of speech. The robots all tried to say “I don’t know”. But the one who could hear its own voice realised it had not been silenced and added “Sorry, I know now.” The “winning” robot jumped two important logical hurdles. Firstly, it understood the question. Secondly and crucially, it heard its own voice and finally used this information to give the correct answer. The significance of the experiment is that it shows that robots can be developed to have some human qualities such as self awareness and deduction. Mr Bringsjord will present his findings at the RO-MAN conference in Japan which runs from August 31 to September 4. In Japan a new hotel planned for Nagasaki is planning to use robots to greet guests, make them coffee and even carry luggage to their rooms.
  4. I cant get me head around the fact there's no foreign owner with spunkloads of cash itching to buy this club. Seriously, what silly cunt would pump three quarters of a billion quid into manchester city to date? They're competing with united for fucks sake, they're always going to be second to them. some guy in the far east is itching to buy Milan for nearly the same amount. If I was fucking rich, Id by a bentley, rolls or some other super car, I wouldnt buy a fucking clapped out ford and spend thousands doing it up. Its like the football gods have decided we should spend years in the wilderness for bossing football for 30 years.
  5. Rodgers got no excuse this season. The owners have backed him with a change of staff and transfer money. Its shit or bust for him. If we're off the pace come christmas, its bye bye. Cant wait to see this new direction we're supposed to be headed.
  6. Could be a very good signing if rodgers plays to his strengths. Wait and see I suppose.
