  1. Nil Satis Nisi Optimus Prime. You won't get a better bumming.
  2. Slightly related, but the word 'barista' confuses me. It's like they've taken a shit job, making coffees, and then thought 'what can we call this job role to make it sound important?' and plumped for barista, because it sounds a bit like 'Barrister' to give it more kudos. Next we'll be calling a bin man a 'docta' or a road sweeper a 'prime minista'.
  3. You said it was misogynistic. That's woman hating. What is your agenda? Are you just on here to play some kind of mischievous devil's advocate, making snide hints at something you later claim not to have said? Why not nail your colours to the mast and state your own opinion outright, rather than saying 'this blogger says such and such' and then having a pop at anyone who doesn't agree? I've got no time for riddles. Forgive my impatience, time of the month and all that.
  4. Well that's how I read it. Can a male with a certain opinion not be a misgynist? That would depend on the opinion, of course. If it was 'All women are slags who should stay in the kitchen and pop out kids' then evidently yes, he would be a misogynist. If his opinion is 'There's a difference between a bloke dressed up in a frock and lippy, and a transgender person' then no, there's nothing woman-hating about that statement at all.
  5. Sorry, I read you calling AoT a misogynist for being a male and holding an opinion? That's what the 'bollocks' pertained to.
  6. I want to become a star of the musical stage. A miraculous voice coach and a Britain's got Talent audition is all I need.
  7. That'll be "haha oh yeah, I'm sorry SKI for being a narky little scrote." *ruffles hair affectionately* Go on, run off and play nicely. Good boy.
  8. As am I, but that involves supporting certain feminist issues, surely?
  9. Bollocks. I took the same meaning as AoT from the links you posted. Am I a misogynist, or am I entitled to an opinion because I was born with a uterus and a minge? This thread is atypical of every every debate on feminism. It always ends up with people splitting hairs over the arguments of a few crazy, radical women; completely eradicating an argument that affects 50% of society. The word 'feminist' has become synonymous with militant types. Women are loathe to identify as a feminist, lest they are seen as a radical, bra-burning nut job. Am I a man-hating dungaree wearer? No. Am I in favour of equal rights for both males and females? Yes. Therefore I am a feminist. I wholeheartedly welcome the voices of men supporting feminist issues, because whether we like it or not, currently men do have more power, and there is a much greater chance for advancement if men get behind us. If you look back 20 or 30 years, to how society behaved towards women, when we were openly touched up and leered at in the street, when TV programmes made a joke out of the objectification of women, and when Jimmy Saville was blatantly feeling up the boobs of some poor girl on Top of the Pops, it sickens us now. None of us batted an eyelid then, and it's shocking to think it was tolerated so recently. It's also comforting to see what strides have been made, and I can rest easier knowing that my daughter will never have to go into work to such comments as 'I wouldn't mind getting my gob around those' and the like. Conversely, it seems like recently there's been a massive regression with the advent of 'lad culture'. It worries me greatly that my teenage sons are being given horrific messages about girls being fair game, and rape jokes are seen as the norm. I've got no sympathy for Dapper Laughs. He's a twat, and whether he's a character or not is irrelevant. Young lads will find it funny, and insidiously will make a game out of similar behaviour. The lad bible, uni lad, and other such sites are the biggest threat to girls that we're facing at the moment because they're influencing an entire generation of kids. We need to move on, and if men can help with putting archaic, sexist attitudes to bed, then I am all for them speaking up on behalf of feminism. Even though they're not female, they have a right, and even a duty, to protect their daughters, sisters, mothers, wives and girlfriends.
  10. Musharraf's leaving speech on Educating Yorkshire. I fucking love this. http://youtu.be/cWeKiZS-dxM
  11. Er, I think you'll find it's actually a 'baylift'. On a related note, our Dirk delivered a package to Canary Wharf just a couple of hours before the bomb went off. I'm still not convinced the clumsy oaf never had a hand in it.
  12. She might be a good speller, just with really fat thumbs.
  13. He's apparently on bail for murdering his wife and setting fire to her, was charged with sexual assault in April and has since been charged with 40 further sex offences, and has previous form for sending hate mail to the families of dead soldiers. Assuming they've taken him alive, do you reckon they'll bail him again? WTF do you need to do in Australia to be remanded?
  14. I've had the old nativity sewn up since she was in year 2. She pretends she's got a sore throat and doesn't feel up to it, I buy her chocolate. We never speak of our conspiracy. It's a special bond between Mother and daughter.
  15. Behave yerself, you auld git. It's been many years since the thought of me sent a man's hand south. I'm coming over all nostalgic. x
  16. People (often the kids) forcing you to watch shit youtube videos or vines. 'Watch this, it's dead funny'. 'Yeah, I will in a minute. I'm just busy saving the world'. 'No, watch it now. Here.' *shoves iPad under your nose'. I don't want to stop what I'm doing to watch your senseless nonsense. It won't be interesting or funny to me. Leave me alone. Obviously you then have to watch it and smile politely just to humour them.
  17. My cousin's kid goes to the same prep school as Garage's offspring in Sevenoaks. It was their nativity last week, Garage was there and it was supposed to finish mid afternoon but ended up running over by over an hour. My cousin was pissed off because she was coming up here for the weekend and knew they'd hit traffic on the M25 and not get back till late. Same day as Farage was held up by 'immigrants' getting to South Wales.
  18. If I can stick my head above the parapet to just point out that this poll is fucked up. It says there are 13 votes for option 3, but if you count them up there's well more. It's rigged!
  19. I'm not being bourgeois, when the kids are home there are 10 of us here. I need a big cooker. Before I got this mutha, I used to have to cook in shifts.
  20. To be fair, I think white people on trains are going to have bombs too, or all men are going to murder me, or the driver will be an alcoholic and crash the train. I have to have words with myself umpteen times a day.
  21. My understanding of the word bigot is a person who holds unpleasant views towards a group/individual who is too bullish to listen to reason. Some of the male viewpoints on this thread are sickening - It's okay to be suspicious of a group, as long as you're not overtly hostile towards them, or it's okay to discriminate against a group as long as you don't go as far as killing them. It's bullshit. If you feel wary amongst a crowd of people who are in the majority black, you're racist. That is a fact. I'm not saying that in a sanctimonious way. I have been nervous sitting next to an Asian on a train with a rucksack. That was me being racist. It was wrong. We all have these thoughts and feelings from time to time. I've felt uncomfortable around transexuals because I was worried about saying the wrong thing and causing offence. That is sexist. We all feel these things. The difference is, decent people will recognise that it's wrong and attempt to educate themselves and change their thought processes. They won't try and justify it, and claim it's acceptable because it isn't.
  22. cunt kʌnt/ noun vulgar slang • a woman's genitals. • an unpleasant or stupid person.
  23. There are plenty of establishments in the UK that have "No Breastfeeding" signs up. This is not illegal, and it's up to the owner to decide. If it said "No Blacks" it would be unlawful. The fact is, if you feel uncomfortable around breastfeeding women, you're a bigot. If you feel uncomfortable around gays, you're a bigot. If you feel uncomfortable around blacks, you're a bigot. Even if you're not actively hostile towards them, and it's purely down to unfamiliarity, you're still a bigot who needs to start challenging your own attitudes.
  24. I dunno, is it okay to feel uncomfortable around disabled people as long as you're not racist? Or uncomfortable around Muslims as long as you're not homophobic? Are breast feeding women not collectively a group who face discrimination and derision? It's no different in my eyes.
