  1. As night turns to day and day turns to night, it is inevitable at some point that City will go on another 10-15 game winning run which usually happens around this time (they are on a four game winning streak at the moment). We need a fit Salah (even when he is shit he can still produce something) and Nunez to be starting most if not all of our remaining PL games as realistically we need to win every single game just to match what City are going to do. I think we will finish above Arsenal this season but it's going to be a really tall-order to finish above City.

  2. I don't think we'll win the title this season because we will definitely have some more games like this away from home where we will drop points. Also, in the second half of the season City will go on their usual 10+ game winning run and we will not be able to match them / go toe-to-toe with them like previous seasons. In a way, maybe not having the pressure of going on a title run this season might help with the evolution of this team / squad. We should definitely make top four this season and get to one or two cup finals and overall it's going to be a fun ride.

  3. I do not understand why Klopp insists that Nunez needs to be better at defending when our defenders and midfielders - the players you would normally associate with defending - haven't been doing a great job with that since the start of last season. We would never expect prime Fowler, Owen, Torres or Suarez to defend and yes they were from different teams and eras but it's time Klopp flips the script with Nunez - his confidence will be sky high now - play him for a few a games and just let him run riot.

  4. Sadly, I think the Klopp glory years are well and truly over - they did not last long but it was definitely a fun ride. I think we are going to be very inconsistent again this season and we will be very luck to finish in the Top 4. City will win the league easily and all the other teams will also be inconsistent - it just depends if we will be more consistent then the others in the league depending on how Klopp chooses to rotate the players for the Europa League games.

Our transfer window has been totally shambolic and the club looks a lot like how it did before Klopp took over - a bit of a mess. I’m a self-confessed arm-chair fan and I will be interested to see if some of the match-going fans start to turn on Klopp if we look like a total shit-show as the season progresses.

  5. Arsenal have had a good season by their recent standards. But I do have a problem with the media's double-standard narrative (and the hypocrisy of Arsenal and fans of other teams on Talksport) that they have kept the season entertaining when we definitely did not get the same level of credit when we went toe-to-toe with City (got 90+ points) and took things to the last day of the season on two separate occasions. So that just makes me feel that they can all just jog on.

  6. I definitely want City to win the league this season - not because I have any love for them (far from it) but because Arsenal definitely do not deserve to win it. We had to toil to win just one title against this City team and the other times we got 90+ points and still didn’t win it. Whoever wins the league this season will only do it with 80+ points (like when Leicester did it in and Guardiola was in his first season with City). Arsenal have done nothing to deserve to win this league title apart  from good luck and the fact that we have a had a shit season. When Arsenal roll into Anfield I hope we fucking twat them and kill off their title hopes - let’s not forget the 4-4 all draw from 2009 either!!!

  7. I think the previous long season and the short pre-season has caught up with the players. We should have got Wijnaldum back on loan (although he has now had a major injury at Roma) and tried to move Keita on to one of the RB clubs. I think this season is going to be like 20-21 when it was a real slog and we just about got into the top 4 (although we ended up finishing third on the last day of the season). The 4 weeks break for the World Cup might help to give some of our players a rest. But I do not think that we will be challenging for the title this season.

  8. "What the fuck was with the three white stripes on the sleeve of his suit though? Are adidas making suits now? Terrible business that."

His suit jacket is made by an American designer called Thom Browne and his clothes are seriously expensive - personally I think the 4 stripes would like fine on a hoody but not on a formal suit jacket (my two pence of styling advice there!).

  9. Great report. Watching football at the moment is no fun at all - I'm an arm chair fan so watching a fired up crowd at Anfield on the TV (especially under the lights) is always the highlight of my week and now it's just like watching a kickabout in the local park - it's dry. I agree with your thinking - let's forgot about winning the league but keep plugging away until things start clicking again - go on an amazing run (which we can do) - try to have some fun and see where that takes us.

By the way, you did not say if you are comparing current Rebel Wilson with current Pamela (in her 50s and been around-the-block a bit) Anderson. If it's Baywatch Anderson then yeah there definitely is no contest. But on current form - I think I might just pick Rebel, lol

  10. "If you watched that game tonight then post underneath here as I’m genuinely interested to know what motivates you to do that." I'm definitely like you - when we are on a bad run of form I don't want to watch any of our games or any other matches either. Hell - I don't even feel like reading your match reports or your other content but I pay my subs - so here I am, haha. Having said that, we've had it a lot worse before so let's not get too depressed about things at the moment. It's also good that the NFL playoffs are on at the moment - welcome distraction.

Cobra Kai is definitely ace if not a bit unbelievable - hopefully we can see Kreese teaming up with Terry Silver in Season 4 (we didn't actually see this in KK3) and ham up their sadism to another level.

  11. With our defence and keeper (as long as they all stay fit) we will probably lose only 1-2 games again this season. The problem will be whether we can still covert the draws into wins - like when we played Leicester home, Villa away and Wolves away. Having said that, City and United have not strengthened their defences and so they will still be inconsistent. Chelsea will be inconsistent as well - Thiago Silva is 35 and he is not going to be able to fix them alone and their keeper is shite. Arsenal are a work in progress. Spurs will be Spurs. The other factor to keep in my mind is the absence of crowds for the beginning part of the season and how much that will influence results - it may help or hinder teams - I think United might actually play better without their fans. I think the league will be a lot closer this season - could be 3 or 4 teams in the mix up until the last few games - maybe a bit like 2013/14 - when there was us, City and Chelsea.

Erm, hang on a minute. Are you really asking Dave to answer your question? Have you read nothing of these reports?

Look, it goes like this. He asks his mother what she thinks. He then makes a pronouncement which will either:

    1. Turn out true in which case he'll say "called that one last week."

    2. Turn out false in which case he'll say "it turned out like that because of what I wrote last week".

Then he'll add in some dumb Italian/Americanisms (usually "jabroni", or "cojones", or "gotten"). He'll then go off on one about Mike Riley or Fraudiola or Fat Fwank before a final flourish involving a few "my boy"s and a dig at either one or both of Everton or the red Mancs.

Please don't be asking him serious questions. It's neither the time nor the place.

Yeah that template seems pretty accurate -  also need to include the obligatory laugh at David Moyes every time he loses a game which usually happens every other week.

  13. I would have loved for us to be in the upcoming CL tournament in Portugal trying to retain it but since we are out - do you think it will be better for us for preparing with the new season? Would it have been better for the players to have more competitive games in the CL or would the 6 weeks off with a bit of rest be better for them?

  14. "Maybe I’m being harsh, but look how close that was to not being a goal." Bobby was running at full pace to catch up with ball and if he hit first time then his options would have been either to hit it at the near post or across the keeper and he could have messed it up either way - he decided to control it with his right foot which meant the defender and goalkeeper caught up with him but I thought it was great skill to side-step them and put the ball in. I thought it was a lovely goal.

  15. "I didn’t like seeing H*sk*y back playing in red"

His goal against Rangers reminded me a bit like the one he scored against Bayern in the Super Cup in 2001. He was my favourite Liverpool player in the treble season - I remember him smashing in goals for fun - like the goal against Leeds in the FA cup at Elland Road (I hated Leeds and David O'Leary). Not sure why it went downhill from there - he could have been our Drogba.
