  1. 9 PL clean sheets in 32 games, likes of Brentford, Burnley Luton, Forest... Villa only good one. Be nice to score first ease a bit of the pressure but then we were 3.2 up at OT and 1.0 up....

    Fuck who knows.

Agree play with shackles off, Fulham is key though Win while 115s play in FA cup and they are chasing again.

Atalanta is vital to get minutes in for Jota, Trent Allisson Jones. So I expect them to play but only to set us up for Fulham.

There is saying where I now live.

Live in Hope, die in Castleton. Feel like I have just moved to Castleton.

  2. Sums me up. Born 5 miles from OT but a full on red all my life you can understand my frustration I fuckin hate that club I actually had to hold back tears of frustration (I am 62 and should know better) we rushed when we needed composure we slowed it when we needed pace....

This is their Cup final, bodies on line shit, when that young lad was high fiving blocks getting onto the crowd...  that's how far they have fallen. They are the Manc version of Everton now with less funny shit than them.

The level of desperate defending they had to do, where was that against Chelsea the other night? All season bar us? Shithouses

However we know all this. In a sense we bottled it, we bottled that mountain of opportunities.

Feels like this season will be part of the broken record collection. Final day relying on others to get results to help us.

Not given up but my only hope is that Spurs chasing top 4, desperate to not see Arsenal win the league.... that for me is the ONE hope. Likely 115ers will be perfect now. So win 7 on bounce and come on you spurs

  3. I am old enough to remember coming home from school to find Shanks resigned and Bob Who was taking over. First thing Sir Bob did, basically fuck all. Just slowly but surely changed a player here, player there.... won nothing in first season 1975, rest as they say.

When Moyes rocked up as the chosen one sacked everyone did his thing and we all know what happened there. And they are still at it....

Hopefully whoever comes in will take the Paisley route and not the Moyes route. But managers are mostly Vain twats but you are inheriting probably the best squad in Europe ripe and ready to blow everyone away. Nurture it, savour it, deliver it whoever you are but do not change it...

  4. God I love your reports, nod along on the pods as I agree with 99% of what you say, I take comfort on knowing its not just me.....

But Gerrard. One step away from Henderson as player manager...

Rangers achievements are no where near what Alonso is doing in Germany. Rangers are always number 2 and if you do their shit tour they are the most successful club in the world apparently.

Old Neverkusen, winning that league is like the Leicester title win.

I can see Gerrard as an assistant but not manager. He is up there with Rooney and Fat Frank in their arrogance of great players make great managers. Feels like desperation and straw clutching as we all fear the worst, after Klopp there is no one, but there has to be someone.

I am bit pissed off with FSG for not appearing to have a plan for this when klopp has been here longer than he initially wanted to be, extended and they knew he would be thinking of going sooner. That was the time to pass to Lijnders get it sorted so it was seamless.

Honestly Stevie would be a disaster for me.

  5. What I am liking about the Klopp/Alonso situation. The circus surrounding the situation (all the media now deciding they have the inside track) hasn't affected performances at either club. We know Klopp, but speaks volumes for Alonso.

Calm, motivation,  style, and fucking substance.

Simply we won't accept anyone else (least not straight away anyway).

He will be good at Madrid but will one of many short term successful managers. With us he will be on the honours banner and forever revered . He knows we treat our managers like God's and if there is any team out there better set for him right now I would love to see them.

  6. The Celebration at Arsenal is an interesting one for me, Same would be at the Emptihad or Bald Trafford...

Worth Reflecting.... We revere our Managers, more than the Players really. We value our History, Elisha Scott, Billy Liddell

but this is why managers celebrating in from of the Kop with salutes, adoration or fist pumps.

    History.

If you look broadly at our success, winning and runners up, whilst the latter can be heartbreaking, there is always the thrill of the chase in the League and the Cups. If we ignore the one offs and charity games and focus on the "We can win 3 domestic and 1 Europe 4 This season"

Looking at Wins and Runner Ups over the years...

    Shanks - 10 in 12 seasons  (once we were in Divn 1 1962/1963 )

    Bob -      17 in 9 Seasons

    Joe -       5 in 2 seasons

Kenny  - 9 in 5 full seasons (No European footy) 15 to go for won or close on 9...

41 trophies and RU in 28 seasons, 4 different managers.

Then the "Dark Days", Hope Springing eternal, these times for many clubs would be their Golden Era

    25 years, 7 managers

9 Wins 8 Runners Up, -  17 Wins close shaves in 25 years, most clubs would love that.

    Along comes Jurgen

10 in 8 seasons, robbed of many by you know who. Rebuilt our belief...our Bastion of Invincibility.

Success for us is winning silverware, but on some of those oh so near ones, still had a great time, great moments (Kiev CL final was one such trip)

No other club has had 5 managers that have brought such happiness to us 51 wins or close shaves, finals etc in 36 seasons.

add in our fallow years that's 68 titles, cup finals, runners up chases... in 61 years (my lifetime)

NO other club can boast that few managers and that level of success, that is why we cherish all our managers and why the fans and the manager are bonded together. US v the rest.

Others imitate which is the sincerest form of Flattery.

  7. Says something about Arsenal when we literally stank the place out but got a flukey equaliser that they virtually gave up. The way they celebrated is fine but look at what happened, they huffed and puffed in the second half, WE gifted them a goal and they score a late one when we are down to 10 men and just 2 defenders. We were a sorry shambles but they still struggled to put us away. Yes they won, but as Dave says different set up, different mindset, plenty of legs... we would have beaten them. We know we can be miles better, can Arsenal say that? DeFo Man City spanking them at the Emptihad.

We were shit but they were miles from great.

Agree on the Trent My Farts don't stink performance, look like he was not arsed and weird to say but its night v day him and Bradley defending. Stick him as the right side 8 and move on.

The one thing weirdly that bothered me before the game, and assuming a positive result was City and their game in hand, and us in the League Cup Final when they play PL game, i assumed that would turn us into "chasers with a game in hand" which i feared, even more so now. Wish PL would get stuck into them right now. Cunts

  8. Tell you what I think is going under the radar a bit as one of the great uses of Klopp influence. 5 subs. Everyone moaned no no no.... he kept at it, not because of player welfare in particular,  as its in now and we have record PL injuries, but because he knew for ages how to manage the squad. Resting should mean sitting on the bench then getting a 20 minute leg stretch to keep a player ticking over. How many times did we rest players for a week, play all the kids then the so called rested players were shit come the weekend

Klopp teams are rhythm teams, they like momentum.

He knew that and the best way to get the most out his players. 5 subs.

    Just a thought

  9. We had a truly charismatic manager who dragged us out of mediocrity to build a team bond with the fans like no other. Made the fans feel their team was invincible with them behind those men in red, never won the amount of titles Liverpool deserved, saw his team on the wain So started another a young dynamic team with a couple of experienced heads. Called it a day (regretted it later) handed over to a quieter more thoughtful manager who was not as charismatic as Shanks but knew football. We all know how that turned out. Fast forward 50 years...

We as fans want Utopia we want Klopp with 4 trophies under his arm getting the send off Shanks never got  and I want to see Alonso taking us onto even more glory. Klopp is not a "lucky manager " he has never fluked any title in his life, those of you who know how he lost out On Mainz promotion two years running one by a point one on goal difference only to go on a third time and get over the line. Sounds familiar, he has never had a warchest of cash he is a maker of stars he gets the job done by sheer graft, desire, passion and football nous. We only Have to look at how we feel now and look at how Mainz and Dortmund fans felt when he left. There is not a man out there in football who can match that impact on fans and people. He is Shanks 2.0 and to younger ones Klopp 1.0. He has done what Shanks did all those years ago and more, he built a winning machine and has left Xabi (?) a legacy team that screams "off you go".
We have 30 odd games of him left let's send our love desire passion to him and the boys in red and roar them home. Get the sculpting quotes in whilst your at it.

  10. It's a small point but when the physio came to treat the cheat, he stayed on and took part over the free kick. Later when he went down coote made him go to the sidelines as normal

1st. If he had taken the free kick and it resulted in a goal? ( it didn't but...)

Then when that cunt went mad at coote for making him go to the sidelines should have booked him for dissent.

4th official should be there to remind the ref..

    NOVAR. though great

  11. Also agree on this super league, this one is better thought out, stupid idea, but I reckon will get legs. The reason is all the lragues that don't have a £6.7bn tv deal or thet are brilliant run clubs in Germany will look at it before they decline . The rest of the leagues in Europe are broke. Them corrupt twats at UEFA will be shitting it behind the scenes as none of the bigger clubs want the extra waste of space games in the CL. If they get Italy Spain Holland France etc there is enough quality to get it going. There will be a tipping point. If that dies off then in walk the Saudis and footy is dead.

One of the only hopes *shakes head* is FIFA banning players from their countries? Who knows....

  12. Pod was spot on. Its been coming that. 4 worldies v Fulham huffing and puffing each week.

Dom off the boil since Hungary qualified, its like he has now realised he plays in one of the worlds biggest clubs, and he is also carrying the weight of his nation on his shoulders.

The front 3 are (not entirely) geared for counter attacks even though they don't do it much, so much pace in behind but somewhat clueless trying to break down a 9 man defence. Thought we were excellent without the ball but shite with it. Dom needs to play weds and Harvey at the weekend.  There is nothing hugely physical with Arsenal it will be a proper footy game and Harvey in better form.

Your summation of " we will snap out of it, but when?" Is exactly how I see it, if we get a big beating v Arsenal at the weekend I do fear the season could fade. One key positive is Virg, right back and he and Ali might be the key to keep us in a title race when it's tough.

Stay unbeaten after Arsenal in the league (spurs can fuck off) and maybe we can settle on a formation and give it a go.

  13. It's no coincidence that even when Darwin isn't scoring we still win games, he makes chances gets chances makes defending him a nightmare which creates confusion and space for others, there is no defender out there thinking I will let him run off me cos he is shit. I might be controversial here but Haaland in theory is easier to defend, stay tight to him  you need strength v him and if you cut off the pass to him he offers nothing but you have to concentrate every second they have the ball. Darwin is more of a knackering menace and can create his own chances as well as link up play. Proper team striker.
