  1. Not too late to say thank you?

Tell you what, going back to work today was a bit of a come down from Sunday. Sometimes you build something up and then it happens and it doesn't quite match expectations but if it were possible that about exceeded mine. Some of the scenes at Cutty Sark and going over Tower Bridge. Just wow, was getting quite emotional.

Really was some day. Already have my name down for next year. A boy can dream...

Chuffed with 3:37. Decent benchmark, definitely think I've got more in me. Apparently I wasn't tired enough at the end, eh mum?!

Enough about me. Your donations have helped to raise over £2000(!!) for some really, really worthwhile causes. I wasn't sure if I had enough friends to get to 1000 never mind 2, so to raise more money than the year is just incredible. Huge, huge thanks to family, friends and football fans! The donations and messages were inspiring and I really do appreciate them, thank you once again.

As a runner and someone who has another marathon in 6 weeks myself I will be happy to throw a few quid in.

    Good luck to the lad.

London is a boss race too - crowds are unreal - he'll love it.

The hard part is the training - the long lonely long runs through winter - the marathon itself is the reward, the victory lap!

Yeah, buzzing for it! Less than a month to go now.

  3. If you click on your username, top right, and click on profile it shows you your latest posts. My latest was thanking all you wonderful people who donated to my previous fundraiser. And here I am again.

I certainly never asked my mum to share the word, although I did suspect she might. I am absolutely stoked, as I was last time, with the amount of donations I've received over the last 24 hours or so, from people I don't even know. Thank you all so much for your generous donations, it really is appreciated.

I purposefully left my story anonymous, I didn't want to publicly name names. Stuart, who is my fiance (which is a terrible word btw) 's uncle has Parkinson's and is really not doing too well. He was in hospital earlier in the week after having a fall. It's a terrible illness and I hope that any money I raise can help to support people like Stuart and his family.

Hopefully end with a slightly more upbeat story. My colleague Jon is an incredible guy, so positive and never lets his disability get in the way of him living his life. He has cerebral palsy which affects the right side of his body. We were chatting in the office earlier in the week and I said that he has such an amazing outlook despite the shit hand he's been dealt. 'Literally' he immediately replied and burst out laughing.

    Thank you once again!

  4. Hi everyone who has donated and followed my story.

Very rarely do I ever visit TLW (unless I'm after tickets). But felt this was a time where I had to show face.

First up, thanks Champ for sharing my challenge with your internet friends and thank you so, so much to all of you lovely people who have contributed towards raising an amount of money which has blown my expectations out the park. Hopefully your donations can make a difference.

To be honest, I hate it when the word 'challenge' is thrown about. There's a girl I went to school with who's fundraising for a 10k, and I'm thinking ey that's not a challenge! Much like the footballing cliche I just tried to take it one run at a time and see where I ended up.

Fortunately I ended up completing the challenge, which I knew I could, but the support from all quarters definitely kept me motivated - especially having just got back from the 4am run and setting my next alarm for 2 hours 55 minutes time - so thanks once more.

Now to address the elephant in the room. I forget how my mum described my cousin. Anyway, I'm a bit more private so not usually one to brag about what I'm up to, what I'm wearing (*cough Prada sweatshirt), etc. Safe to say though my times were significantly quicker, ranging from 5:59kms to a best of 5:34km - on the last leg, no less.

Pleased as punch to finish, and even more delighted to have had a decent lie in too! If only we got such pleasure from our team just now...

    Thanks again,

    HLM
