I just hope that these pronouncements from Starmer aren’t “pledges.”

As it stands, his word is pretty much worthless. He’s a liar.

Ouch, harsh but the evidence says true.

  2. Not the greatest set of reviews for the ginger kids book these tbh.

    This is times radio,

its not on every single front page today, so thats something.

In fairness I know its little intrest to you and me but he's the King of Englands son, he's published a book revealing intimate thoughts and details on subjects like his mother's death and relations with his brother, who's the future king. Like it or not its going to cause big news in media circles. The books apparently sold more in its first week than any book from the whole of last year.

Its refreshing to see someone not afraid to take on Murdoch and the British press. He's certainly upseting all the right people, good. He's definitely got Dan Wootton and Rebecca Brooks number.

As for NV hes just upset because the books critical of the beloved Royal family and so mildly  challenging to the establishment.

  4. Be lovely to see a government with compassion for a change.

I'm just glad Starmer and Reeves have pledged to protect the rich by not raising the top rate of tax as previously promised. Can't have all this compassion only benefiting the poor, they've had more than enough of a good time of it these past 12 years.

Echoing everyone else on here, I've been admitted via A&E twice in the last six months. I spent 8 hours and then 14 hours waiting for a bed on a trolley on a corridor. The staff were brilliant, a constant supply of tea, coffee, biscuits and sandwiches. It was pretty clear I was witnessing an overloaded system on it's knees. One of the doctors said that realistically the hospital needed another 250 beds available to cope.

This is purely a result of Tory underfunding the NHS for 13 years, lowering bed capacity along with the number of doctors and nurses set against an increasing and ageing population. A clear attempt to run down the system to the point where they can declare it a failure and switch to a private health care model.

    Yep. Perfectly put.

Whilst acknowledging there’s more to this than I want to share right now, my brother has currently been on a wheelchair in A&E in a dreadful state since 4pm yesterday afternoon (just a little over 21 hours). He’s waiting to be transferred to a bed in a ward that’s not available.

During the last 48 hours many people have been involved in trying to deal with this situation. I include A&E doctors, nurses, and support staff. Local GP’s and support staff, Ambulance staff, Adult Social Care staff, Community Action staff, Police.

I can say that not one of the above has been anything other than professional, empathetic and passionate about doing their absolute best.

They’ve little, to know, chance though. The system is broken. It’s been treated with contempt by the Tory party.

In particular the scenes in Pinderfields Hospital A&E last night were as disturbing as they were upsetting.

Oh dear, hope your brother gets treatment and gets back to good health shortly Yorkie.

Although you were quite hopeful that Starmer would fall foul of the law and be forced to resign:

Hopeful is not the same as belief.

I'd certainly rathered he would have fucked off though tbh. Might have had an opposition who stick to the promise of renationalisation and wealth redistribution, but alas he's now all we have.

Anyway yet another pledge broken today I believe, this one on Universal Credit?

Yeah that was hilarious, a load of people pointing out how he is in legal trouble about that and about the Corbyn thing. Some on this thread I think. I’m shocked the top lawyer in the land knew more than internet bros. Shocked I tell you.

Is their any post this cunt doesn't bring up Jeremy fucking Corbyn?

Hardly any one took that nonsense seriously and hardly anyone thought Starmer would get prosecuted you fucking plum. It was only the cunting Daily Mail that bothered running with it.

You might not like Starmer but one thing he's not is corrupt. You don't go into the line of work he was in and rise as high as you do if you are.

Here's this eco energy owner. His names Dale Vince. To be honest ive never heard of the fella but without knowing anything about him and at the risk of having knifes plunged in my back, just going from this short interview he comes across as perfectly OK to me if a little on the eccentric side.

Coincidentally I seem to remember Starmers biggest fan on here getting into one of his Numerous heated arguments (this time with Bob Spunkmouse I believe) ranting that all just stop oil protesters should be fed into a wood chipper.

Anyway here he is talking to Sam Coates..

Yeah I agree. I haven't looked into that Starmer video but there's a difference I suppose between donations and second jobs. A second job can be harmless but, IMO, means you're taking the eye off the ball in some way. I don't see how people can do both jobs.

Donations can be harmless too. If you were a millionaire you might want to donate money to Corbyn purely because you think he's a good politician and you want him to have the resources to fight elections and win - that doesn't mean you expect favours in return or that you or he are corrupt.

There definitely needs to be more oversight.

If it were down to me, I'd up their wages but ban any second (paid) jobs. I'd create a tougher independent vetting process for donations, and I'd create a public fund that helps people run for elections so they don't have to depend on interest groups which can and do give their chosen candidates clear advantages over others.

A single mum from Garston should have the same access to resources to fight an election if she can prove she's serious and has enough support in the community, it shouldn't just be for wealthy connected fuckers who are elected on the understanding that favours will be returned.

    Yep sounds good.

It may be all innocent and above board and 95% of it probably is above board, all done within rules and all with good intentions, it's that chink where corruption can step in and politicians can potentially be bought and favours asked in return that's gives the bad look.
