The costa bid was another strange one. If we'd have signed him would we have played with three centre forwards the way we play with three at the back? Great player but I'm confused by the thinking, unless he was lined up as a replacement for Suarez.

I found our last transfer window dealings strange. Rodgers said he was looking to add goals and bought three center half's, although all three are good players its given the team a lop sided look. Our midfield has failed to score a single goal from open play, (possibly due to the system! And despite accommodating our defensive signings in to the team we are failing to keep clean sheets. Unless the system changes before its too late a slide down the table imo looks inevitable. Also it confuses what midfeilders are playing well or not well, so it's not as easy to know what players we need and where they are going to fit into whatever system we'll be playing. I'm confused. Switch to a back and attack attack attack Fulham. Then look at recruiting one or two top class midfield players in January. Our defensive and attacking players are fine, although a world class left back could be added to santas list.

I take your point but let's not over egg it, one of them four managers was Roy Hodgson.
  4. Not sure i agree he'd score "fuck all" he's played defensive mid, wide midfield and left back this season. He seems to have it in his head that where he plays does not excuse him from being a threat to the opposition.. He seems to grasp the golden rule from uncle bobs wise words of wisdom," if your in the box and you're unsure what to do, stick it in the net and we'll discuss the options later.."
  5. What a load of shit. Why are they "entirely different players"? They are both fucking midfield football players. What's so different? I'm not knocking Henderson, the comparisons with Ramsey are unfair, but you make it sound like each position is some type of specialist engineering. It's often just an excuse to mask a players deficiencies. Ramseys interview after the match was telling, he said he's played wide, defensive mid, attack mid, and full back this season (reminds me of Gerrard) and feels comfortable in all of them.
  6. I think that's why wenger tried to buy suarez, put him up front with giroud. Strengthen where they need strengthening. We bought three (good) centre half's when the area of the team that needed strengthening remained untouched.

Not sure i agree with you mate. They've sailed into the World Cup finals, unbeaten in their last seven. Got three freindlies coming up against england, brazil and germany, should be interesting. If they hold their own against them ( i think they will ) that 50/1 will become a pipe dream. As they say, playing in your own continent is a huge advantage. A nice each way and a match bet against england. Fucking ave it. Here's Chile's recent form, http://uk.soccerway.com/teams/chile/chile/

That 50/1 looks a cracking each way bet.

What you think of their chances at the World Cup? I'm thinking of having an each way bet on them. I watched them draw 2-2 against Spain recently and Chile looked a very good side, Spain were lucky to scrape a draw in injury time. I'm thinking if Spain are second favs then Chile, with home(ish) advantage might be worth an each way bet at decent odds.

I put it on another thread but here's Gary Medal stats from yesterday, impressive when you consider the problems Swanseas midfield gave us, http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/295728/analysis

I'm not sure i agree with you on medals ball play. His passing stats are regularly over 90% yesterday's was 96% passing accuracy, way ahead of any other player on the field. He also had a tackle/duel rate of 100%. He has also played centre half and full back in a very good Chilean side which sailed through their group to the World Cup finals. He reminds me of mashcarano . I agree on the mental part. If he loses the ball ( which is rare) he has been known to wait in the tunnel at half time to punch the opposition player who took the ball of hims head in. He's no spice boy.

We really should take a close look at this player http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/295728/analysis

Gary medel the Cardiff city chilean holding midfielder totally bossed that game today, as he has done every time ive seen him play. 96% pass completion on the stats, awesome. He stopped swansea getting any momentum and disrupted their rhythm. Compere to the way swansea destroyed us in the second half at their place. For 11mil quid Cardiff have got a bargain.
  15. Fair play to jack whiltshere, he deserves a lot of applause for what he's achieved in such a short space of time.To rise so quickly through the ranks of british football to put himself right in the top bracket of irritating, pug faced, thick as shit british footballs playing the game today is some achievement, especially when you consider he's almost risen to levels of utter cunts like rio ferdinand, patrice evra and danny welbeck.
  16. I wouldn't replace or get rid of any of our midfield players. They are imo all good players, however is there a sense of entitlement creeping in. It's as if some seem to big to be rested. Our midfield system seems too constrained, shackled. Wether it's the system or players there is simply not enough goals coming from midfield areas. We were told in the summer that we wouldn't sell our star player to one of our rivals. If we see arsenal as our rivals our midfield options need upgrading, the arsenal midfield we played yesterday had flamini and Whiltshire not in the side, both are not guaranteed of a starting place yet both will slot into the side seamlessly, if selected. It's a big conundrum for Rodgers, no easy solutions imo either.

    This 'Ghost Midfield' of ours....

We'll never win the league with the mindset of players being undroppable. Dos'nt matter how good or great they are. We'll never win it. Simple as that. Examples, auld cunt down road drops/rests rooney, scholes, giggs on regular basis wins title after title. Mourinio ( who i hate) when asked yesterday if he made a mistake said he made eleven. Fabiio Capello once said to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a friendly game "why are you playing like a prick?" Zlaten said "well if you think that sub me" Capello, " Ok get off". That's the way to do it if you are serious about challenging for titles. The manager is boss, the most important person at the club. If players do not perform, for whatever reason, then they are putting their place in jeopardy.
  18. Sorry San Don but your Allen comments are simply not true. Allen was one of, if not, our best player against man city, west brom and arsenal last season before his shoulder injury. Allen may not be a world beater but he controls the ball well in tight spaces, can turn and find space with the ball and rarely gives the ball away. This is imo a good article on Allen and he can bring to the team, http://eplindex.com/33712/why-joe-allen-can-still-be-key-liverpool-stats-analysis.html
  19. One positive note. Thank fuck Arsenal " the club that thinks it invented the game, taught the world how to pass a football, who've won the square root of fuck all for eight years" didn't buy Luis Suarez.
  20. Sakho Skrtle Flanagan, mainly for a kid being thrown into a top of the table away game in a system he hasn't played in. Tough on the kid but he's not a wing back and he didn't let anyone down.

If Suarez or Sturidige don't score we don't score.
  22. If you're giving out midfeild goal scoring stats you might find you're batting on a very sticky wicket..but here you go.. Arsenal midfield goal scores this season .. Ramsey 10 (ten) Ozil. 3 Wiltshire. 2 Arteta. 1 Carzorla 1 Total... 17 Our midfield goal scorers this season Gerrard 2 The rest of em 0 Total....2

  24. Yeah don't know why they call it the England and Wales cricket board when half the side are South African or Irish. A better and more accurate name would be " The England, Wales and anyone in the world who can play bat and ball better than the useless middle class tossers we've got to pick from, team"
