  1. Hillary praised Trump's kids, Donald respected Clinton's never give up attitude.
  2. Take points from the rich, give points to the poor. Another day in the hood.
  3. Back to the positive! These girls have a dream. A dream to fully embrace their talent and interest in cars. Rajae and Najlae Lashqar, two sisters from Morocco are set to break the stereotype by becoming mechanics, they’re all set to make the jumpsuits their most fashionable working attire and to have fun with the grease. Not only have they wished to make their dream come true and break the monopolized field by men, both of them are currently completing their second year of studying being the only ladies in their class. After their studies it is their dream to open their very own garage, a garage that is ‘by women for women’, called Princess Auto. They want women to be able to send their cars for fixing without having to ask men to assist them. Their dreams were realized with the help of the Let Girls Learn Foundation and with current effort made by Morocco to build their women to be more competitive in the working world. Let Girls Learn wishes to assist in making this effort by Moroccan to come through. Currently Morocco has been making great effort in promoting gender parity in access to education. This effort is important to overcome the economic and cultural challenges that still hinder girls access to quality education. With a help by Let Girls Learn, girls like the Lashqar sisters have a chance to make their dream come through. Let Girls Learn is an initiative by the President and First Lady of the United States to help more than 62 million girls around the globe. (Source)
  4. So Marilyn Manson inspired the Columbine massacre? (here) The Joker inspired the Sandy Hook shooting? (here) Eminem inspired a sex attack on a minor? (here) Slender man involved in a second stabbing incident? (here) Turn off your tv's, burn your books and whatever you do, don't look at reality directly, dear consistent ones.
  5. "Hit 'Em Up" by 2Pac, featuring his group the Outlawz. It is the B-side to the single "How Do U Want It", released on June 4, 1996, from the album All Eyez On Me. The song was produced by long-time collaborator Johnny "J" and samples the bassline from "Don't Look Any Further" by Dennis Edwards and interpolates "Get Money" by Biggie Smalls group unior M.A.F.I.A, which used the Dennis Edwards sample as well. The video, itself described as infamous, includes impersonations of Biggie, Puffy and Lil' Kim. "Hit 'Em Up" had a large role in exacerbating the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry. Following its release, the East Coast rappers insulted in the song responded through tracks of their own. The controversy surrounding the song is due in part to Shakur’s murder only three months after its release. The song is widely considered by the American hip hop community as one of the greatest "diss tracks" ever recorded due to its explicit lyrical content and the seriousness of violent intent by Shakur and his colleagues towards their competitors. 6. This was trending on youtube yesterday, the comments suggested it was a Reddit discussion that prompted it. I'm in favour of a universal basic income, but similarly to renewable based energy it will take a huge shift in corporate interests to achieve it.
  7. Not like real fun you old pack of bastards, eh?
  8. Raised with coca cola from the bottle, when served water the initial reaction is to reject it. It's bland, tasteless, clear and transparent. Jeremy Corbyn is water. Be water my friend.
  9. You are damned if you do, and damned if you don't. It feels like the disenfranchised voter/nonvoter doesn't engage with politics whether it's disillusionment or futility, we fall back on two main parties, our votes don't really feel like the are important. When a situation of 50/50, yes/no arises the odds are better on gaining a successful result. The disenfranchised now have a greater chance to wield their voice against a system/individual/party that hasn't paid them attention and has no desire to. So if Cameron says stay, this is the chance for everyone to say Fuck you, NO! You can put your vote to use and see it take effect. There is an urge and momentum to change our politics, but how we achieve it will be important for the new system. The public may be led in a dangerous direction if the form of rebellion infact grants more power to the current leaders. Leaving Europe could be likened to owning land to build a property on, and deciding to move in before building the place. Europe is not preventing us having a well engaged politically active nation with politicians running it for the good of the nation, we can do that as part of Europe. Leave now and we have a disengaged nation and the bully's twisted younger brother in charge. I understand it sounds defeatist, or 'no balls' as njackets put it, and I admire those considering voting out for the ambition, optimism and boldness it requires to want to take on various power structures as a nation, but please remain open to the idea that staying in Europe is not a vote for Cameron and no-one has bought your compliancy even if you do choose to stay. No choice is right, both will leave you feeling empty. But together with our European brothers and sisters we stand a better chance of taking on corporate powers. Whether it's yes or no, the struggle continues.
  10. European laws are made by unelected bureaucrats. Not true. The European Commission doesn’t make laws. It only makes proposals, which are then debated, amended and passed (or rejected) by elected national governments and directly-elected MEPs. Evidence In any case, Commissioners themselves are accountable to the European Parliament, which elects its president, approves its appointment and can dismiss it by a vote of no confidence. Evidence
  11. Chyna was found dead of suspected drug overdose. I found conflicting reports of her age 45/46 but that's because her birthday was yesterday. Very sad news, she had a turbulent life and career, so long Ninth Wonder of the World.
  12. Naz17 can you explain why you should not be imprisoned or deported, I'd be interested to hear your reasoning. You have already stated you have contention with PC culture, which previously has found dissenters serving time. I will presume until otherwise you hold no views that could jeopardise your freedom. But why do you think you should not be imprisoned or deported?
  13. Inevitable that Barca would come calling, I hope we get a good price for him.
  14. I think English media will be reluctant to chase this controversy because it was part of a UEFA competition and the power for retrospective action is held by UEFA. Do the tabloids want to promote the idea their nation's fans are somehow behaving worse on the European stage? Unlikely. They'll mention it, but not push for non-English governing bodies to take action. That right is reserved for themselves and the glorious FA.
  15. Times like these I wish I had my own funny catchphrase to cheer everybody up.
  16. Ray Winstone's fat floating head covering 3/4s of the screen "When the fun stops, stop". Brought to you by gambleaware.co.uk
  17. "Wish you were here m8 xx!" Really though, you think Turkish league is a jolly in the sun?
  18. Sam Cooke didn't own the rights to his music, he lived in a time when releasing music commercially was controlled by labels. I've thought for a long time that his death appears to be a miscarriage of justice despite how the official case is retold. The media and society's pop culture values where quite different then, Sam Cooke was not propelled to global worldwide status or a millionaire, like a successful songwriter can more easily be today. The machine that helps facilitate the global stardom of today, flies in the face of protest, so if you write a hit song and it holds good morals/values you can still expect to be nailed for the success you receive. Lorde's 'Royals' comes to mind as a modern pop song about the disenfranchised, but it immediately removed Lorde from the people she was trying to speak to when it became successful. Jessie J had a song with the chorus 'It's not about the money, money' called Price Tag, of course it ended up making her a lot of money, so it's difficult for people to connect with. Rage Against The Machine were championed to Christmas Number 1 as a protest vote, but the message was hollowed out by the means of protest. Modern labels are actually striking deals with musicians to keep the contract a secret, it was revealed a number of hip hop artists have been signed by major labels but are promoted as independent artists up until the intended tipping point. This is because the labels realise their brands can be seen as toxic to new music, so they are actively hiding their influence to main an organic image for new musicians. Logic from Maryland is an example of this type of promotion. Adele if anything could almost be seen as a protest pop singer by the sheer volume of sales she has achieved as just, one girl a mic and piano. Stripped away all the show business. Kanye West, Rihanna and Paul McCartney had a big hit with 4,5 Seconds song, it was essentially vocals and guitar, the video was black and white, standing singing directly into the camera, again stripped of all the over saturated sugar and excessiveness typical of chart pop music today. It gives the impression audiences are calling for a reset on the values of pop music even if it's not obvious at first because of the characters/personalities attached to the songs. I think the modern media set-up means protest music is a lot more subversive and an extension of early rock n roll & punk hedonistic values spinning darker and more unsettling in it's sound. Bands such as Death Grips have a devoted following online, but as much as I listen, I just cannot process the music. As much as it's nice to imagine the next 'Blowin in the wind' being released and the country coming together in celebration of arts it's not going to happen. The change has come and it's not what Sam Cooke was referring to. The record has changed, and the song ain't that sweet. Wake up and taste the shit, the fans are dancing in it.
