  1. The top teams will all beat each other to varying degrees this season. I would reserve judgement on how impressive Man Utd are until they have met two or three of them. What they do have is options with pace to come off the bench, and that can often swing things late on in a game. And having the best keeper in the League is a big help.
  2. I think I remember Port Vale having Newton and Ridley playing together' ( Ale house team) You had Flanagan and Allen ( no laughing matter) We had Holmes and Watson, (and still didn't have a clue)
  3. One misplaced defensive header away from a good win-pity as the young lad Holgate had an excellent game otherwise. I see Aguerro has perfected the art of pirouetting, spinning your body, and claiming grievous bodily harm. Three times he tried that in the second half in desperation, and the final one worked in getting Sneiderlin sent off Fair result, I'll take a point away at a team who will certainly be challenging for the title. Three more difficult league games on the bounce now- Chelsea way, Spurs at home and Man Utd away
  4. I don't know if it was commented on here at the time, about that save he made to force the injury time corner/ equaliser. He could have done a lot better with that..it reeked of " I'm making a great injury time save here to win us the game" And it obviously didn't.
  5. Aye The only top team who dispatched inferior rivals with aplomb
  6. Three woeful competitive games so far this season, hardly any incidents of note. But having said that, three 1-0 wins I'll take that
  7. I was watching Rachel Riley ,who was wearing a tight little skirt, sorting out the letters on Countdown the other day,and I got aroused. I was quite proud of myself,as I normally only get a six letter word at best. That was a joke I heard Peter Alliss say during a lull in the golf a couple of years ago-quality.
  8. Michael Johnson is the best sports analyst/punter in any sport in my opinion. Doesn't suck up to anybody, whatever their nationality, and tells it like it is. Top guy.
  9. As things stand,I reckon that's a fair assessment. Definitely need at least two more quality signings pretty quickly.
  10. Strangely, not one of the ten of the lads I go to the match with have said that, so I fear you are mistaken.
  11. He's not much of a fan then. Game has sold out, capacity reduced due to upgrading of seating for disabled supporters. But fook all to do with cladding-the nobhead. The £15 admission fee obviously helps ,and the fact that kids are off school and can stay up later.
  12. Don't forget the amount getting spent on Londons crossrail, and the abolishing of tunnel fees on the Severn. Aren't all but one of London's bridges toll free? As if they would do that for Merseyside
  13. The same Government who say there is no money( £500,000) to help the homeless people and businesses destroyed in New Ferry. Same Government who found an initial billion for N.Irish bigots, and millions for a ridiculous election.
  14. Virgil will go to Man City, and you will buy John Stones, although I am joking.
  15. Great cover version, that. Sad news indeed.
  16. No treble winning ,and boot room legend ,Joe Fagan? I,m amazed by that. Surely contributed more to the club than any player mentioned?
  17. Some guy( Dave) plucks up the courage and agrees to meet some woman for a date and a meal after viewing her online facial picture and profile. He is sitting in the restaurant, waiting, when he sees a fat bird who resembles her profile picture coming towards him. "Hello, are you Dave" the girl asks, " I am Anita" Dave replies, "I can see that you fat bastard , we are definitely going dutch on this bill"
  18. The Channel Fourth Grace Stadium has a nice ring to it. I'm going to get on the phone to big Joe straightaway
  19. The turnaround in playing staff this season suggests there is bound to be a lot more of settling in of new players than any season I can recall for a long time.
  20. Honest answer, I wouldn't have had him back. Nothing to do with his leaving us years ago etc, just that his game time and goals have diminished over the last couple of years. The older you get, the more you get injured, the longer it takes to get your fitness back ..and on and on. However, there is a chance that he might thrive again after looking stale for the last two years, so like any fan I will support the player while he is at the club. I think these buys have got the fans buzzing( and with a couple more to come), so while I can't see us getting top 4, I can't see us finishing any lower than last season,in what is ( to use that hoary old saying) a transitional season.
  21. Keys has been busy recently, what with having a starring role in the recent Planet of the Apes film.
  22. The groundsman was painting anti vandal black paint on top of the exterior Melwood walls the other day ....presumably to discourage the fans who climb on bins to try to see their idols training. Considering they put the curtains up around the first team players area when they are training,it seems a bit over the top to me.( no pun intended)
  23. Yes His goals gained Everton 9 points apparently, less than the difference ahead of the team in eigth.
