£22M for Pedro is a good price. I would have preferred Pedro for £22M (assuming he'd come) than Benteke for £32M. Wonder if we have enough money left over to buy Pedro?

He's worth a punt at £15M given his Premiership goal record. £32M is a ridiculous fee and we have been mugged I'm afraid. I'm all for spending big money on proven world class talent who fit in with the team. Unfortunately Benteke doesn't qualify and I can see him having a hard time here.

Yes, Aguero is streets ahead of them, but Costa is also streets ahead of Benteke. He can run behind defences, Benteke cannot. Costa's off the ball movement is brilliant. Benteke, on the other hand, hardly ever gets into positions to lash onto through balls.

Costa also works his bollocks off in every game. I've seen more than a few matches involving Benteke when he couldn't be arsed. Including the fa cup final in which he was utter crap.

Playing to his strengths means playing a style of football that no successful side plays.  Long punts up to him and constant crossing is low percentage football.

 

Don't play to his strengths and you wonder why we bought him instead of a proper forward that would suit us.

Agreed. A massive gamble. The transfer fee for this limited footballer is outrageous. Clubs put in stupid fees into contracts as release clauses to ward off bids from other clubs. They don't expect clubs to actually pay the full amount as we stupidly are about to do. Villa would probably have accepted around £25M if we negotiated hard enough but no, we go ahead and give them exactly what they want. Again.

Benteke will cost us about the same as Costa and Aguero did. Does anyone expect him to have the same impact?

An absurd price. But we have proven to being the biggest mugs in the league. Why bother trying to scout for a bargain when an expensive flop will do. Add Benteke to the list alongside Carroll, Aquilani, Downing, Lovren, Balotelli, Lallana, Markovic, etc.

To be honest, I was concerned about Markovic at the start since he didn't even look good in his youtube highlights videos! And if you can't look good in those selective clips then you're not likely to be that good in my shallow opinion.

I'd be happy to offload him, he's not really shown any serious potential although I wonder how much of that is down to be playing as a wing back. 

We still need a top class striker, a defensive midfielder and centre back. If we manage to get those 3 while offloading Lovren, Coates, Balotelli, Borini, Alberto, Sterling and Lambert, I'd be pleased with our transfer dealings.

Stoke have apparently had a £12m bid accepted from Inter for Shaqiri.

He'll be a top signing. We should go back in for him, would be a good replacement for Sterling.

Odd choice. What happened to the return of Pako??? Can we really not find anyone better on the continent than this guy?

Even though he had got stale, unoriginal and a bit boring in his last few years as a pundit, Hansen would still be miles better than the pair of them. I'm surprised Hansen hasn't been signed up one of the footie broadcasters. Even though he's not as good as he was, he's still better than anyone else on the telly.

The Ramos thing is just weird. Why would United pay over £35M for a defender who is almost 30 and has already has his best years behind him? And he's not even that good. And he's suspended for much of the time. 

If Balotelli and Borini are still here at the start of the season I'll be pissed. We could have got £14M, FOURTEEN-fucking million for Borini if that stupid twat hadn't rejected Sunderland. We'll be lucky to get £5M for him now. 

As for Balotelli... I'm willing to accept he has talent and he's shown his quality in the past representing other teams. But he's been a complete disaster for us, he simply does not fit into this team and we should sell the minute anyone shows an interest in him. We won't get much more than £10M for him so let's not be greedy and ask for silly money. Just move him on ASAP please.

Hope we can wrap this one up. Would be an excellent signing for £12.5M and would sort out a real problem area for us.

Would be a good signing. But frankly, if any other European team from a top league that's in the Champions League next season come in for him (and there certainly will be), we've got fuck all chance of getting him.
