  1. And:

“Palestinian civilians do not deserve to suffer for the sins of Hamas and Israel has a moral obligation to do better. The United States must do better,” Schumer said on the Senate floor.

The only thing I can think of is that he's going to announce his retirement, as this sort of common sense and basic human decency is usually not something any politician--let alone one of the most powerful politicians in the world--displays.

  2. Chuck Schumer has come out calling for Netanyahu's democratic removal, and for a new approach vis-a-vis Gaza and the Palestinians.

Netanyahu “has been too willing to tolerate the civilian toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows. Israel cannot survive if it becomes a pariah”.

    And more.

He listed Netanyahu, who has long opposed Palestinian statehood, as among several obstacles to the two-state solution supported by the United States, alongside rightwing Israelis, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority president, Mahmoud Abbas.

“These are the four obstacles to peace, and if we fail to overcome them, then Israel and the West Bank and Gaza will be trapped in the same violent state of affairs they’ve experienced for the last 75 years,” Schumer said.

    Amazing.

    X Free Speech Absolutist

Social media major X (formerly Twitter) has admitted to taking down accounts and posts related to the ongoing farmers' protests in India.

The site has claimed it took down the pages after the Indian government sent them "executive orders".

The orders were "subject to potential penalties, including imprisonment", X said in a statement, adding that it "disagreed with these actions".

[X is] blocking access in India to a story by CBC's The Fifth Estate on the alleged contract killing of a Canadian Sikh separatist after the Indian government ordered the social media platform to take that action.

"Indian law obligates X to withhold access to this content in India; however, the content remains available elsewhere," X said in an email to The Fifth Estate.

"We disagree with this action and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts. Following the Indian legal process, we are in current communication with the Indian authorities."

  4. De Jong skies the equalizer and Reus ends the contest at the other end shortly thereafter.

Dortmund were the better team in the first half, but PSV should have had at least one in the second.

No threat going forward, on this performance.

This won't be popular but I think one of the things that will infuriate our fans is going to be the fact that this is the exact kind of deal Edwards will NOT sanction.

I actually think one of the main falling out points with Klopp that led to him leaving was re-signing Henderson, wasn't it? It would have been hugely unpopular to let him walk that summer, but Edwards was ready to do so and then Klopp insisted on giving him an extension.

I would contend that history has borne out Edwards' instincts to be correct, but it's arguable. At any rate, I think we'll see VVD and Salah let go (not necessarily this summer) earlier than we would have under Klopp. "Let their legs go on someone else's pitch" and all that.

I agree that that might not be the type of deal he'd sanction in general, but in VVD's specific case I think it makes sense.

He's still one of the best CBs in the world, and the fact that he's got himself back to that position after the injury indicates that he's capable of adjusting to the limits getting older is going to place on him.

He's also the captain of a team that's still in transition, and about to undergo an even bigger transtion in the summer.

I'm not saying blank cheque, but the best possible offer they can make.

  6. I can't decide what I want.

I know I hate Arsenal, and I'd enjoy watching them crash out.

And for some reason Arteta played it close to the vest in the first match--I'd love to see that come back and bite him on the ass.

But I think they'll win comfortably.

  7. They're a team whose only purpose is to avoid relegation.

Don't even try in the matches you expect to lose, play for a draw in those you think you have a chance in, and hope you nick the odd winner.
