  1. [X is] blocking access in India to a story by CBC's The Fifth Estate on the alleged contract killing of a Canadian Sikh separatist after the Indian government ordered the social media platform to take that action. "Indian law obligates X to withhold access to this content in India; however, the content remains available elsewhere," X said in an email to The Fifth Estate. "We disagree with this action and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts. Following the Indian legal process, we are in current communication with the Indian authorities."
  2. De Jong skies the equalizer and Reus ends the contest at the other end shortly thereafter. Dortmund were the better team in the first half, but PSV should have had at least one in the second. No threat going forward, on this performance.
  3. I agree that that might not be the type of deal he'd sanction in general, but in VVD's specific case I think it makes sense. He's still one of the best CBs in the world, and the fact that he's got himself back to that position after the injury indicates that he's capable of adjusting to the limits getting older is going to place on him. He's also the captain of a team that's still in transition, and about to undergo an even bigger transtion in the summer. I'm not saying blank cheque, but the best possible offer they can make.
  4. I can't decide what I want. I know I hate Arsenal, and I'd enjoy watching them crash out. And for some reason Arteta played it close to the vest in the first match--I'd love to see that come back and bite him on the ass. But I think they'll win comfortably.
  5. Karl Wallinger at 66. World Party (Ship of Fools) but for me as part of The Waterboys. RIP
  6. Looking to fight dapower?
  7. When you say ‘no changes at the break’ do you mean both teams are still dreadful? Steve
  8. They're a team whose only purpose is to avoid relegation. Don't even try in the matches you expect to lose, play for a draw in those you think you have a chance in, and hope you nick the odd winner.
  9. Should have just mailed in the three points and saved the bus fare. And now the pity penalty to Rashford.
  10. Great save. Match is over, but that would have had me turning it off.
  11. Some great saves today. Kelleher, Freiburg's keeper vs Bowen(?), and Leverkusen's keeper to keep that match at 2-1 before they equalized.
  12. Looking at the cockpits on those planes, hopefully it's a while before they let AI actually design any.
  13. The one thing Part I had that II didn't was a typical (and much simpler) story arc. Beginning, middle, end. There's something to be said for that. (Just look at the amount of half-written garbage that's out there now.) Though I think II is a masterpiece.
  14. [s]Did they say if he ever got infected?[/s] The 62-year-old from Magdeburg, Germany showed no sign of being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 as well.
  15. McConnell endorses Trump. Hopefully the next time Trump's supporters storm Congress, they manage to catch a few of the Republicans they were threatening last time.
  16. CBC reporting that Canada will resume it's funding of UNRWA. The federal government is resuming funding to UNRWA, the United Nations relief agency for Palestinians, CBC News has learned. In addition to going ahead with a scheduled payment in April of $25 million, Canada's international development minister also intends to announce new funding, according to a senior government official. The Canadian government announced a pause on funding in January after Israel alleged that 12 employees of UNRWA were involved in some capacity in the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas and the affiliated group Islamic Jihad. FWIW, Canada has given $25 million per year to UNRWA, and gave an additional 20 million in December. (By way of comparison, China gives 2 million, as does Russia. They talk a good game, but that's about it.) I doubt the US will follow suit, but perhaps Germany and the EU will. Hopefully so.
  17. "Blackberry" The rise and fall of Research In Motion. Starts out funny, ends up sad. A bit uneven--the last half seems rushed--but still a good story, well-acted and told, with plenty of familiar (to me) Canadian faces. I saw a three-part version on my streaming service, but couldn't find any links--if it's longer than the movie, it might be a better choice.
