  1. Was it his groom, by any chance?
  2. That still pic looks like they're getting ready to play human checkers. "King me!"
  3. Evander Kane KOs Matt Cooke. Cooke was a cheap shot artist, who'd injured more than a few players in his career. He generally refused to fight, as he knew he'd get his ass kicked. He dropped the gloves and confirmed the fact with a player who was named after Evander Holyfield. Dumb.
  4. If I didn't know he was practicing law in Montreal now, I'd swear Dave was one of my room-mates at university. Same looks, same voice, same mannerisms, same sense of humour. He even loved rap. Uncanny. I'm pretty sure he didn't have a "fuck me silly 3", though.
  5. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/501567-bush-romney-wont-support-trump-reelection-new-york-times New York Times reporting that neither George Bush nor Mitt Romney will support Trump's reelection campaign. I doubt Bush in particular will intrude into a presidential race by saying this openly. But I hope he does.
  6. https://www.npr.org/2020/06/07/871636604/colin-powell-says-hes-voting-for-biden Another high profile Republican, and general, speaks out against Trump.
  7. I'm guessing there's some avocado just out of frame on the bottom. Though it could be beans. Same difference.
  8. Why were they galloping down the street at those people? A (at least in one case fairly accurate) re-enactment of the charge of the Light Brigade?
  9. The story immediately below that includes this statement: He really is a thoughtless prick.
  10. Blackhawk Down Mark Bowden Really enjoyed the movie, and the book is just as good. Goes a bit more into the friction between the various groups of soldiers, and the cause and aftermath of the conflict. 8 of 10
  11. Ever since Trump was elected, I've been thinking of a fellow named Joseph Welsh, who was a lawyer for the US Army during the McCarthy (anti-communist US politician who ruined more than a few lives and who was willing to say anything or slur anyone if he thought it to his advantage) era. He's famous for confonting McCarthy: Welch excluded himself from the remainder of the hearings with a parting shot to McCarthy:[32] "Mr. McCarthy, I will not discuss this further with you... You have seen fit to bring [the Fisher/NLG affair] out, and if there is a God in heaven, it will do neither you nor your cause any good! I will not discuss it further... You, Mr. Chairman, may as you will, call the next witness!"[33] After Welch deferred to Chairman Mundt to call the next witness, the gallery burst into applause.[34] It was the beginning of McCarthy's rapid downfall. I've been wondering if there was another Welch out there, and if there was, whether or not he or she would be listened to. Maybe it's Mattis--I hope it's Mattis--though I think in this day and age, he'll be ignored by, at least, Trump's base. Maybe it will take more than one voice; Obama spoke again tonight. Maybe more tomorrow.
  12. The experiment continues. School is back in here in BC. Approximately 1/3 of kids have shown up. Our government has done a good job so far; I hope they don't get this wrong, as it looks to be a fairly bold step.
  13. I don't know if it still applies to you in the UK, but you might want to look into EU 261. Regulations regarding passenger rights for flights involving EU countries.
  14. I've read some horror stories with people attempting to cancel/rebook, but also some good stories as well. My flights were booked with frequent flyer points, so happily all refunded, and I hadn't booked too many other things, so no major loss for me. I'm going to try and replicate the trip for next spring; as you say, hopefully things will have settled down by then.
  15. New York City Was supposed to be there in a couple of days...goddam virus.
  16. Zerozerozero It's okay, but not great. The plot is a bit sketchy, IMO, and I didn't really care about any of the characters, good or bad. Might just be corona-virus-induced TV overload, but I don't think so. 6.5 of 10
  17. If someone engineered this, and made it so that it weakened over time, they'd've sent the ransom demands already.
