  1. Anything is possible at the moment but the main thing is he would be very unlikely not to be covered if there were quotas for foreign players introduced.
  2. I can't help but feel his political views might have affected his career unfairly.
  3. Based on brief footage I was very impressed with the Scottish guy from Hearts. Very inexperienced though. Personally I'd like to hear more about Martin Edwards' All New Summer Sale. The squad really needs trimming.
  4. Jamal Lewis. Youtube says yes. Crossing is the sort of quality you can improve with practice. Could be a roughish diamond. Laroucci going the other way means we've spent just half the Lovren money.
  5. Surprised we aren't in for him if it's £1.5m and he can play R/B as well. Not seeing any mention of KJH as a possible LB. In truth I've no idea whether he's ever played there but it's not impossible.
  6. I think there is a point in terms of the variety of play. I know we need players who fit 'our' system but we also need a bit of flexibility in how we set up so teams can't just nullify us in advance.
  7. We've clearly got several players surplus to requirements. More on the progress there would be welcome. No point whinging about the owners. They aren't going to put their own money in but they aren't taking it out of the club either.
  8. Don't often watch the local news but on BBC Wales Today the football news was inevitably focused on Cardiff/Swansea in the Championship playoffs. Most of the piece on Swansea was devoted to whether they could get Brewster back on loan next season with the head coach saying 'we'd love to have him etc.'
  9. I wonder if we feel our strategy of getting business done early has cost us a little bit financially. Firstly because the standard approach is to haggle for months and then do a deal right at the end of the window. Clubs will only sell at the start of the window if you offer way over the odds. Secondly, let's say we get all our new signings in. We then go to sell A,B,C and every club know we are in a position where we have to sell to reduce our wage bill and we have several players surplus to requirements. So they low ball and we end up having to send them out on loan. I think we are trying to avoid this.
  10. It's all very odd. Are we interested or not? Firstly though there is the issue of Wijnaldum's future to sort out - I can't see us signing another midfielder unless he's leaving.
  11. Gotta say I like him (based on a youtube vid!). He'd fit our profile much more than Thiago if Gini leaves. Not that I'd be disappointed with him.
  12. I think I've found the man. Make it happen.
  13. If we can get Shaqiri gone (Klopp doesn't fancy him) that about £20m reduced from the wage bill. Lovren/Lallana/Clyne/Shaqiri. Milly must surely be on reduced wages now too.
  14. He looks like a tank. Big lad for his age too. I'd take him but he looks more of a blocker than a ballplayer (which is what I thought we wanted against the park the bus teams). Yes I'm gonna mention him again - Ben White.
  15. Hoever is a slightly forgotten man. He's only 18 remember. He could easily turn out to be the best of our 4-5 young prospects.
  16. I'm not so sure. From what people are saying the football is turgid and he has done well to score as many as he has. His wider development might be better served elsewhere.
  17. If Fraser is available on a free I'd consider it.
  18. I wouldn't expect Fenerbache to match our wages but apart from Lovren I don't think those guys are on megabucks. I wonder if part of our messaging at the moment is saying to our own not needed players - we aren't desperate to bring other people in to replace you and we won't pay out your contract if you want to leave. But maybe we really do want to bring one or two people in?
  19. I'm puzzled if we aren't signing anyone. Surely we want to move certain players on - Lovren, Shaqiri, Origi (?) - as well as the likes of Grujic, Wilson, Karius who seem surplus to requirements. Are we going to cross our fingers and assume no injury crisis? The front 3 will all be 29 next year, there's a danger we're going to end up stuck with an ageing team in two or three years.
  20. I'm quite happy with us spending what we re-coup. The big question is how quickly is the matchday revenue going to return? Are we being stingy or other clubs reckless? If Klopp doesn't have room for Shaqiri, Wilson, Grujic, Lovren, Ojo, Ejaria, Karius whilst getting Lallana and Clyne off the wage bill you'd think a bit of money might become available! Back up for Robbo is essential, another CB to replace Lovren (Ben White?) and possible upgrade on Origi/Keita - assuming we can shift them that is.
  21. First of all I want to see Ben White. I know he's only playing in the championship but he looks THAT good. Some sort of cover at left back. Given the strength of our midfield I wouldn't mind someone who is better going forward than defending. Preferably someone versatile who is young or a mature player on a free. As for a marquee signing either a creative midfielder or another attacking option. If well sell Origi, Wilson, Grujic and a few others it seems feasible.
  22. Don't know about the standard of the opposition but if this is his general performance level he ought to be here next season https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=marko+grujic
  23. Based on a youtube video I'd take Cantwell over Grealish. Not sure he's what we need though. I'd be looking for a young potentially prolific Van Basten type centre forward.
  24. Credit where it's due, they were impressive. That's the best performance I've seen from a team without any real 'names' in a long time.
  25. He's been in Italy since he was 15. Perhaps living in Italy is so great that they can't adapt?
