  1. I actually feel sorry for some of these players who were never that good and were given foolish hype - Biscan, Cheyrou, Pongolle. The obvious disasters would be Cisse and Carroll. What I never understood about signing Carroll was that we had already signed Suarez. Did we ever envisage them playing together? What was the plan to use him?
  2. 4-3-3 Trent Gomez Van Dijk Robbo Hendo/Fabinho Thiago/Wijnaldun/Jones Keita/Ox/Milner Salah Firmino/Minamino Mane/Jota 4-2-3-1 Trent Gomez Van Dijk Robbo Fab/Hendo Thiago/Wijnaldum/Keita Salah/Ox Minamino/Jones Mane/Ox Firmino/Jota Do we think this could be the 4-2-3-1 we've been talking about? If we've had one weakness of late it's against those teams that park the bus at Anfield. Could this be the answer. Also I'm not sure about Bobby as a No. 10. I don't think he played his best when we used him there.
  3. No chance Matip is playing. I'd play Gomez if he is fit.
  4. What abut our homegrown players? We look at about 6 or 7 at most.
  5. Could he be a fox in the box? The sort we perhaps have been missing?
  6. Let's be honest, Brewster hasn't been given a real chance to prove himself in the 1st team. However if Klopp thinks he isn't going to work out I trust him. A buy back clause for not much more than the asking price would be good business sense. I think we were all expecting the transfer coffers to be bursting this year because of sales that haven't materialised (yet). I still say the player I'd like is Buendia.
  7. Let's keep things in perspective. International break, league settled, Trent hasn't had a pre-season. Yesterday should be a wake up call. Our offisde line didn't look it's usual self.
  8. Hasn't Naby been one of our best players since the lockdown?
  9. Well I generally try to avoid it so I wouldn't know. As for trying to help professional coaches beat Liverpool I'd find it very funny if managers were reading that paper for tips on how to stop us!
  10. Nothing very odd about that. I've seen plenty of 'how to beat unbeatable team' articles over the years.
  11. If we ignore Chelsea are we seeing a significant drop off in transfer fees? We're (allegedly) offering £22.7m for Thiago and demanding £20m for Harry Wilson - ignoring their different contracts/ages, how realistic is this? I'm really surprised we haven't see a few outgoings yet. Is a load of business going to get done on deadline day? We clearly have 7 or 8 players surplus to requirements. I'd have thought we'd get something for them! On Brewster - I'm amazed. I've not seen a lot of him but this talk about him not having the 'all round game' - he did very well in a brief loan spell at Swansea who pretty much accepted he got them into the play offs. He's 20. How about we wait a bit before deciding how good he can be? Only sell with a decent buy back clause.
  12. From what I've seen the players I'd have really liked this summer are Aaron Hickey, Emi Buendia and Thiago Alcantara. Amazed Hickey seems to be so cheap.
  13. Fraser had 14 assists in the premier league in 2018/19. One less than Hazard. Not to be sniffed at.
  14. Didn't we establish that Bobby wasn't really too effective as a number 10?
  15. I think I'd prefer to see Brewster given a go rather than Origi. I also wonder if we'll keep Phillips around for now if we don't buy another centre back? I'm guessing Koumetio is ahead of him now but he is only 17.
  16. Keita has had injury issues, had to break into an already settled midfield and since we came back he's been one of our best players.
  17. Midfielders - Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Thiago, Ox, Jones, Milner. With Hendo and Ox injured and Thiago new I don't think Klopp would want to lose anyone right now. Can see Milner going in January perhaps if he doesn't get many games.
  18. There's a case for a slightly different option in midfield, so Thiago in for Gini makes some sense. I like the look of Buendia. Why are big clubs not going for him?
  19. I always thought he looked class. Don't understand what happened to him.
  20. To be honest I'm surprised we haven't moved a few guys on by now. I guess many of the teams we are looking to sell to have their own financing issues. But we clearly have several sellable assets with no future at the club. They need moving on. We're heavily linked with Sarr. Let's see what happens.
  21. He needs more of a chance and could easily have had a couple of assists today from good work. Aubameyang is hardly the easiest guy to come up against. Maybe Hoever could get a chance too?
  22. I just think Gini and Milner instead of Keita was a surprise today.
  23. I'm not too disappointed with what I've seen. Trent is a loss, the starting midfield lack a bit of inspiration and we didn't get the front three into things. Keita and Minamino did well when they came on - which made the starting 11 a bit of a surprise. Gini's future needs sorting, Thiago would give us a boost but him Keita plus one of Fab/Hendo would be an excellent midfield. Man of the match - Gomez. The best I've seen him defend in the air. Looked like he had his mojo back.
  24. I agree that Woodburn does not have great physical attributes. It's a shame that the number 10 has sort of gone of out fashion in Football. There's a reason the Mancs love Cantona. I still think Klopp could find a role for him in midfield. Does he lack stamina too? I still think he has technical ability, finishing and weight of pass that is rare.
  25. Manchester is not quite Aberdeen! Since they're no longer in the premier league I guess he'd not need to worry about having to cope with a cold night at the Britannia.
