  1. Being linked with Arnaut Danjuma from Bournemouth. I quite like his highlights reel.
  2. I get the frustration when other clubs don't seem to be taking finances seriously. How much money have they all lost during the pandemic?
  3. I really like Locatelli. £34m seems very reasonable and he won't be on massive wages already.
  4. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the number of midfielders. If one comes in (Niguez?) that means we will have 8 in total. Hendo, Fabinho, Thiago, Milner, Jones, Ox, Keita and X. 7 of them on big wages. Surely Ox or Keita would be off? Now I know Ox has been playing in the front 3. So if we bring a forward in you have Firmino, Mane, Salah, Jota, X, Minamino, Ox, Elliott *. So again it seems high on numbers. Perhaps Minamino would be off? I certainly think him, Ox and Keita aren't all likely to stay. *Assuming Shaq and Origi are out the door.
  5. We could really do with some transfers involving players we have sell on clauses with - Luis Alberto, Ryan Kent, Danny Ward, Danny Ings. I've given up on us getting the final £17m for Coutinho.
  6. Sell on clauses make quite a bit of sense in the current climate.
  7. If we ignore Karius I count 17 non-homegrown players at the moment. That includes Keita, Origi, Shaqiri and Minamino. A couple of them are surely dispensible if we sign a forward. I don't see any need to focus on signing homegrown players. The fact we gave Adrian an extension suggests this.
  8. The wage bill will obviously be huge if we don't sell or loan people out. We have too many players! Probably another 6-7 to sell (Grujic and Awoniyi is a good start) and a midfielder and forward to sign. Given we already have Salah Mane Firmino and Jota up front I'd be quite happy taking a punt on a young forward who Klopp can develop.
  9. One thing we don't generally pay attention to is the betting odds. I wouldn't rely on them but they indicate where money is going (possibly some inside knowledge). To sign for Liverpool: Renato Sanchez 5/4 Raphinha 5/2 Kylian Mbappe 3/1 Aaron Ramsey 3/1 Donyell Malen 10/3 Piotr Zielinski 7/2 Youri Tielemans 11/4 Yves Bissouma 4/1 Fabian Ruiz 9/2 Saul Niguez 5/1 Kingsley Coman 11/2 Patrik Schick 6/1 Alexander Isak 6/1 John McGinn 6/1 Luis Suarez 6/1 Adama Traore 8/1 Pedro Neto 8/1 Dusan Vhalovic 10/1 Houssem Aouar 10/1 Jude Bellingham 10/1 Ousmane Dembele 10/1 Matheus Cunha 12/1 A few surprises there. Ramsey?????? Hmmm. I don't see Mbappe either due to wages. Have to do some research on Fabian Ruiz.
  10. Strange - you wait ages for a deal to be done and then two happen at once.
  11. Jota is a better finisher than Salah and Mane. He was on fire before he got injured. Not saying he is better overall of course.
  12. I have been looking at some of the wages of our first teamers and I can't understand them. Nat Phillips is on £64000 per week and Harry Wilson £60000 per week. Eh? These are not new contracts. Now it may be that there is some kind of upward gradient built into the contract but would we really have offered such generous terms to peripheral players?
  13. John Henry was about to write a £150m cheque for Mbappe but Klopp stopped him at the last minute as he didn't want to sign anyone who would block Harvey Elliott's path to the first team. Henry said thanks you've just saved me £150m. Or so someone told the Echo.
  14. Kewell had already started to pick up injuries from 2001 to 2003. I was certainly excited by his signing and at that fee it was definitely worth the risk.
  15. Just be be clear when I say best goalscorer I really mean best finisher.
  16. I wanted to get other reds' opinion on this because one thing I don't understand is Klopp not wanting to play Jota straight through the middle. The guy's best quality IMO is his finishing. He's the best goalscorer we have at the club but Klopp doesn't necessarily seem to fancy him in the central striking role. Why is this?
  17. Excellent news. Pus £1.3m for Miller and hopefuly £7-8m for Awoniyi.
  18. Tony Robinson's Time Team are excavating it for some ancient objects.
  19. I wouldn't write these guys off at a young age. Neco would need replacing if sold. A midfielder from the U18s seems unlikely to be that though
  20. It's funny to think of all the people who have managed England since Bobby Robson. Not one of them seems to have done anything after giving up the job. Graham Taylor - largely successful with Watford and Villa ended up managing in the second tier with a short period in the prem Terry Venables - Won the league and nearly European Cup with Barcelona. FA Cup with Tottenham. After England he spent time with his lawyers and the odd period with a few average clubs - including Leeds in meltdown. Glenn Hoddle - Did well with Swindon and Chelsea. After a decent effort with England he did have a good period with Southampton but Spurs was a disaapointment Kevin Keegan - Revived Newcastle and Fulham (with some financial help) and afterwards had a few decent seasons with Man City. Sven Goran Eriksen - won the league with Lazio. After England he had one year with Man City Steve McClaren - Won Middlesbrough their first trophy and got them to a European final. After England not much. Fabio Capello - Huge success everywhere. To be fair he may have treated the England job as a retirement plan. Roy Hodgson - Effective coaching plucky underdogs if found wanting with better players. In all honesty he appears to have carried on where he was before Sam Allardyce - Well.... Gareth Southgate - You'd have to fear for him. The job seems like a managerial graveyard. I hope Steven Gerrard isn't tempted by it. I say all this as one of those rare people who is neither pro or anti the England team.
  21. 40m for Trippier????????? He's nearly 31. I take it they aren't looking to sell.
  22. I like the look of Malen. £25m would seem very generous though. Am I missing something? I'm generally happy if we're casting the net wide. On Neuhaus - remember Grealish can't get on for England.
