  1. Sorry but I really can't do this today. Impossible to single anyone out as today was aboutt he team. Instead I'll give the MOTM to the King himself. And not because of that little spat at the end with Ass n'whinger. No the moment of the match for me came around the 20th minute when Aurelio (who could already have received 2 bookings - harsh but possible) went down injured. I'm panicking wondering whether we'll be going 3 at the back, will it be Wilson out of position, I don't know. Camera cuts to the bench where Kenny rather than holding his head in his hands is laughing with one of the kids next to him. I'm thinking, 'what the hell is Kenny smoking?' - but then it all makes sense as said kid is 17 year old Jack Robinson (heard of him, but confess I didn't recognise) who's coming on and Kenny's just making sure he's relaxed and not gonna be fazed by it all. Now that's what I call man-management.
  2. Defour? Interesting. He had major hype a couple of years ago, maybe he's stood still playing in Belgium. Would efinitely be our type of signing and we need strengthening in the middle.
  3. would score his first goal for Chelsea today and they'd be a thread on here about it. Just realised who Chelsea are playing and there would be a certain poetic justice if he did it against Woy's West Bwom. Couldn't give a **** aboutt he guy anymore but I'd allow myself a little smirk if he did it today.
  4. He has only just turned 18. That's one year older than Morgan. He can't be bad if he's already in the England under 21 setup. If it's 10m including add ons I would worry too much. Where was Carroll at the same age?
  5. 1. Suarez 2. Carroll 3. Spearing Hon. mention for Flanagan who didn't put a foot wrong on his debut.
  6. Eh? Are you saying it would be £10m including agent fees, signing on fee. Or £10m in total, if we win the champions league/premiership etc in each season he is here?
  7. Being realistic it's going to be harder for us to sign players now we are no longer in the Champions League. Bale would be great, but there is virtually zero chance of him coming at the moment. Javi Martinez was a player we were linked with a while back. Any thoughts? Let's be honest we've never truly replaced Alonso or Masch. I'll mention Albrighton again. Keeper replacement - Viviano?
  8. I wouldn't get rid of Insua. He's still young, played too many games as a 20-21 year old and look how lacking we are at left-back! Baines would be good, but problematic. Seems to be some pretty daft money being quoted for Cahill. I'd like to see us sign at least a couple of British Isles players but we'll get better value for money abroad. Whatever happened to Raul Albiol?
  9. I think we should look at 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. For those who think the latter = 4-4-2, when Gerrard played off Torres it was hardly like Owen and Heskey. Which side does Suarez prefer to cut in from? The modern fad is for for players to play on the 'opposite' side. However with Carroll, conventional wingers would make sense. Of course we could do with more pace, but let's not sign someone average just because they can do a Forrest Gump.
  10. Pace is good, but remember we've got Johnson or Kelly at RB who are both pretty nippy and hopefully a new left-back who is also. Suarez is not slow either. I think we're improving on that side of things. Anyway there's more to football than pace. I don't think it's the priority some others do. How about world class skill/potential?
  11. Let's hope not. This isn't the 1970s. IMO flat 442 doesn't work anymore.
  12. There's a good youtube video up on Albrighton. Good feet, can play on either flank, seems to play with his head up. Not got Young-style pace but no slouch either. Definitely worth a bid.
  13. Good to see another fan of Albrighton! I've not seen a great deal, but he's impressed me when I have. Isn't he more the pacheco type than a winger though?
  14. I'll fax that through to Kenny's office straight away.
  15. How long would the naming rights last for? How long before the Emirates reverts to Ashburton Grove?
  16. Depends who comes in for him. No-one would be daft enough to make a big offer at first but if it turns into a bidding war they could get top dollar. It'll also be interesting to see how Young plays it. Let's say the mancs come in with a 'derisory' offer of 10m, however it turns out that Young doesn't want to go anywhere except Old Toilet. Spuds/us et all can bid what we want, it won't make any difference. Then we'll see if Villa play it cool and risk losing Young on a free and see if the mancs come back again.
  17. I have to say I saw more to Downing last night than a guy who puts his head down, runs at people and gets crosses in. Young had some good touches as well. What worries me about both of them is that they seem very one-sided in an age when traditional wingers have gone out of fashion.
  18. I think Marveaux will be coming and it's worth the risk since it's a free transfer. Downing has never really done it for me. How long does he need? I like the idea of swapping Aquilani with Giovinco.
  19. He must have a particular fixation with virgins. That is the only thing that can explain this.
  20. Giovinco is an interesting one. I can see him playing off Carroll. Bit like Joe Cole but with pace. Very lightweight but he seems quite feisty. Him and Suarez either side of the big man or even Kuyt would be fun. He'd also fit the NSV pattern - young/potential to improve.
  21. Any chance of an Aquilani/Melo swap? I think some people are being a bit harsh on Lucas. With a destroyer alongside him, he'd look a better player. After recent performances I wouldn't make a CB a priority.
  22. What about Vargas? I was impressed when we played Fiorentina. He's not had a great season - in an ordinary side - but he's a very good crosser of the ball. Left-footed, could compliment Suarez and Carroll nicely. If we're in for Adam, what does that mean for Stevie's future? Adam is good, but he's not really a ball winner, which is what we need most of all. It's hard to see Adam Meireles and Gerrard in the same team. I'd even consider taking Sissoko back, if Juve wanted to part-exchange with Aquilani. As I've mentioned before Diarra is out of favour at Madrid.
  23. Here's my squad for next season: ***********************Reina/Gulasci*********************** Johnson/Kelly*****Skrtel/Carra******Soto/Agger******Insua/? ***************L.Diarra/Lucas******Meireles/Shelvey************ Suarez/Kuyt**************Gerrard***************Marveaux/? *********************Carroll/Ngog************************* My first thought is do we need another ball winner in midfield. I still don't think of Lucas as a holding player. He'd be better with someone alongside him. Would you take Momo back. Or what about Melo? After all we're dealing with Juve already over Aqua.
