Would Sterling have hit this recent rich vein of form without Suarez giving him those little gee ups ? Impossible to say, but that's what great players are about. It's not just what they do with the ball, it's about the effect they have on others around them. And Sterling clearly loves playing with Sterling, Studge has a similar thing going with Coutinho. Few teams will cope with that lot if they're on song.

If Sterling goes elsewhere, he won't be under Suarez's wing any more. And I'd like to think that means as much to Sterling as anything else. Some of Coutinho's passing gives me wood. That pass for Sturridge's goal was sublimely ridiculous. Sturridge absolutely loves playing with Coutinho, he knows he's going to benefit from the lad's surgical precision at some point during the game.
