  1. Apart from maybe a centre half we don’t actually need to buy anyone unless anyone leaves. Completely happy with the squad. Can start the summer 2025 thread
  2. True but like Shankly he’s built the foundations, he’s leaving a fantastic team that every ambitious player should want to walk over hot coals to play in
  3. Completely agree, from a starting 11 perspective Trent remains a right back and right now he’s one who while having done nothing wrong has to try and displace his replacement who’s got the shirt on merit right now.
  4. Bench right now even though he’s been in great form himself. Great problem to have
  5. Fuck that, he’s the absolute business. He’s got the lot, pace can defend pass shoot cross. Trent is going to have a job to displace him right now and I absolutely love Trent
  6. Think the outcome is Trent who’s been amazing going forward this season may have to also pull his finger out to consistently do the job he’s capable of defensively as well as someone’s there showing him up
  7. Trents contract renewal negotiation just got a bit less stressful
  8. I think there’s a desperation from people outside for it all to fall apart where actually we’re being left in great shape. its similar to the obsession with wanting Nunez to fail
  9. Lots of revisionism about his abilities, he was a good and key player in our old system as one of the 8s. I think he’d look very limited in our new side even if his legs hadn’t have gone because all our midfielders now are exceptional in possession and in tight spaces. Seeing mcallisters interpretation of the 6 with progressive passing and receiving the ball in tight spaces is night and day to how he played it as he’s just not as good a technical football as Mac allister who’s exceptional. But he was decent technically and a good player. Anyway fuck him
  10. I just read his full quote and didn’t he just basically say he knows what it’s like having been there rather than hinting at anything? Bit fanboy of him to say he still knows people at Liverpool so has any kind of internal insight but didn’t think he was suggesting anything cryptic
  11. nice clip that and totally right, he might well keep our formation as long as it works for the principles of play which are fundamentally based on pressing, even if the actions in possession are slightly different (although we are a possession based team now really rather than the ‘heavy metal’ of early Klopp)
  12. As someone else pointed out the 3-4-2-1 xabi plays isn’t actually positionally too different to how we actually end up in possession now, I’m sure we’ve already for the players to play it. You might get another cb if matip goes but that’s probably about it.
  13. Pretty understandable position really, the players need to know asap who the manager will be
  14. If you’re van dijk with a year left and potter comes in after jurgen, you’re running your contract down. Alonso comes in and he commands your respect and you’re signing on for the next project. Same for De Zerbi
  15. It’s Xabi Alonso. Only person who can get the fans and the players totally onside after jurgen, and he could, could be the best young manager out there right now. What he’s doing at leverkusen isn’t luck. It’s a no brainer.
  16. I feel guilty even thinking about this right now but the club are surely doing it already. Alonso is the only person with the gravitas to do it
  17. Brilliant squad option and great little player at his age, making a real contribution for a team that’s top of the league is no mean feat. Definitely good enough to be a squad player here, we shall see whether he kicks on and what his ceiling is. He’s played a lot of football for someone so young
  18. He is very 2 footed but I don’t think that’s true either, he’s sliding to reach it and using the outside of the foot made sense to control it and guide it back across goal
