  1. Ajax 95 had Kanu, Finidi George and of course Tarik Oulida. Kiki Musampa was born in Zaire but represented Netherlands.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aYG7rdID60 Back when Maxi, Suarez and Kuyt were the best front 3 in the world. For a couple of weeks.
  3. It's probably a lot of recency bias that makes me say top 5, need to see if it stands the test of time after repeat viewings. It's not as thrilling as Breaking Bad, it's not as important as The Wire, and I absolutely wouldn't expect most people to agree, but I do think it's brilliant. I'm very much into personal drama over most other things. GoT is enjoyable when you're watching it but for me I don't think about it after the episode or miss it between seasons, it's just a fireworks display. The themes of Leftovers - loss, grief, religion, family, the things we do and tell ourselves to get through the days - are ones that no other show I've seen has handled with as much depth and meaning. I think the tonal shifts (and location changes) between seasons work as the Departure is further in the past each time and people are moving on in different ways and to different degrees. I also think it's shot beautifully and Max Richter's score is fantastic and Carrie Coon deserves awards. I think ultimately it either gets its hooks into you or it doesn't. A show about how fucked up everyone is while trying to pretend they aren't speaks to me as I feel like I see that everywhere I look.
  4. I guess not many people have made it to the end but having watched the finale today I'd have to put it into my top 5 TV shows. I can understand why people would struggle with the first season, it's a bit relentless in its gloom, but season 2 injects a little levity and the final season has been the best in my opinion. Wonderfully moving writing and performances.
  5. Who's our Dominic Solanke correspondant? http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sign-dominic-solanke-chelsea-13110595
  6. On holiday in Seattle in May 2011 so went to see what the locals had to offer. Sounders 0 - 1 FC Dallas. Was like watching schoolboys chase the ball around the pitch. Shit schoolboys.
  7. Thanks for the recommendation, saw it had been added to Netflix a few days ago and watched it last night. Heartbreaking and uplifting in equal measure. 9/10 is right.
  8. I remember listening to one of our games on the radio a couple of months into the 2005/06 season when a lot was being made of Peter Crouch having played for 24 hours without scoring his first goal for Liverpool. The main commentator asked Taylor for his thoughts on this and he said' "It's a load of nonsense, it's only one day. Probably a Monday. And who gets anything done on a Monday? Nobody." Never a truer word spoken.
  9. My favourite podcast currently is Generation Why, two guys who cover mostly murder cases but also occasionally other mysteries and legends. They're at the other end of the scale from LPOTL (which I also couldn't stick for more than 10 minutes due to the hosts) and I could see some finding them a bit dry, but each episode is always well researched and covered.
  10. 20 years ago on Friday, that was. Remember being at my uncle's 50th and trying to watch MOTD through the festivities. He's just turned 70, where does it go eh?
  11. Echo the shouts for Football Weekly/James Richardson, still can't work out if him and Glendenning don't get on or are best mates... but my current favourite is the Irish Times Second Captains one. Ken Early is usually fairly spot on in his assessments and they have a lot of the usual podcast pundits on - Jonathan Wilson, Gab Marcotti being a lot less of an arsehole than on The Game, Tony Barrett regularly on for Liverpool related matters etc. Obviously a bit more Irish leaning during international weeks but generally focussed on Premier League/Europe.
  12. Just take it. Takeittakeittakeittakeit. TAKE IT.
  13. People who stop to have a little think right at the very top/bottom of an escalator.
  14. We should be buying whoever they replace Redmond with.
  15. Mario Balotelli is the worst footballer in the world. £16m, I can't...
