1. Although there are plenty of candidates from The Wire, the best scene from any TV show I've seen is the episode of Twin Peaks in which the killer is revealed. Went a little downhill afterwards, but that episode is the best episode of anything I've seen I reckon, and this scene especially. Edit: Won't embed or post the link as it's a massive spoiler.
2. Weird, just listened to Five Leaves Left tonight for the first time in far too long and then saw this thread. Beautiful album, and a tragic shame.
3. "We got this one kid, Mongo... He's got a forehead like a drive-in movie theatre, but he's a good ship. So we don't bust his chops too much."
4. Of more contemporary artists, I like Guy Garvey's lyrics a lot and Bon Iver's (Justin Vernon's) lyrics on For Emma were very good, although they've gone a bit overly oblique on the new album.
5. We seem to have a recent history of mental refereeing decisions against Chelsea:
6. Jeff Buckley wrote some incredible lyrics, Morning Theft and Lover You Should Have Come Over being his best in my opinion. Morrissey was pretty good too.

8. Christ. Having only got back from visiting Vancouver a couple of weeks ago and thinking what a lovely place it was with such nice, easy-going people, it's very strange to see it looking so apocalyptic all of a sudden.
9. Listen to the New Bon Iver Record - NYTimes.com
10. Might be a bit too much of a faff, but I've just got back from going to Vancouver and Seattle for a couple of weeks. Return flight to Vancouver was £318 with Canadian Affair and then we coached down to Seattle which took about 3 hours and cost around $40. Still, might work out cheaper than flying straight to Seattle and Vancouver is worth seeing as well.
11. I love Tom McRae. He hosts the Hotel Cafe Tour when it comes to Europe, which is an assortment of similar acoustic singer/songwriters. There's a good list on the website: The Hotel Cafe Tour. My picks of the bunch are Joe Purdy, Greg Laswell, David Ford (who is perhaps the most similar to Tom McRae), M Ward and Brian Wright. Otherwise, my personal favourites are City And Colour who has a new album out next week, Nathaniel Rateliff, Ray LaMontagne and Stephen Fretwell. Try Kings Of Convenience for something similar to Jose Gonzalez.
12. I apologise for invading this thread with my ignorance, but I'm travelling to Vancouver for a couple of weeks on sunday and hoped to take in some local sports while I was there. Though having read this... ...I assume it's a bit of a no go? Is it the equivalent of some Canadians coming to England hoping to pop into a certain place and hoping to watch the semi-final of a major competition?
13. Didn't realise until recently, but the opening of Encore by Jay-Z is borrowed from a reggae cover of I Will by John Holt...
14. Peter Pan is a smug twat, and Hook's only flaw was not managing to tear him a new one. Jack Sparrow is a flouncing nob responsible for creating a sub-culture of topman-shopping, eyeliner-wearing, flouncing nobs. Hook for me.
15. There's an article in this month's Empire celebrating the 25th anniversary of possibly my favourite comedy film (it's a close run thing with Airplane). It has an interview with Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short and director John Landis and being only a wee bairn when it came out I was a bit surprised to read it was a relative flop in America. Interesting read though, sounds like they had a lot of fun making it. So in celebration, I wanted to share some Amigo lovin'. 16. Finally, awesome news. Can't wait for June now, new City And Colour album and a new Bon Iver album. I've been listening to Gayngs recently to get a Justin Vernon fix, bit more trippy. This is still one of my favourite things:
17. Babel's against Lyon(?) last season which endangered the health of the corner flag sprang to mind. This, on the other hand, is how you do it:
18. I'll nominate Twin Peaks and second It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia as soon as someone mentions that.
19. She's so hot she's making me sexist... ...bitch.
20. I've just treated myself to the 32" version, so thanks for that.
21. I started cracking through The West Wing a few weeks ago after treating myself to the box set. Got The Sopranos box set for christmas. Still have Mad Men to start at some point. Fancy watching Deadwood too. That's my 2011 taken care of. The Wire has set the benchmark which they must surpass to be considered the best television drama, in my opinion.
22. Beards are awesome, therefore keep it. Hope this helps.
