  1. You misunderstood me if you think I meant that the shoes are not that big. They are huge shoes to fill but if the new manager conducts himself well, shows that there is a plan and there is incremental progress, he will be given time. The (sane) supporters understand that we need to punch above our weight to win trophies, especially against the cheats. My reference to Klopp was that he had some seasons where we were not competitive for the league at the start, but were in 3 finals in the first three years and qualified for the CL in year two and three while not spending very much and playing exciting football, while incrementally improving. 20/21 can be put solely down to the CB absentees. We were top after Christmas when Matip joined Gomez and Van Dijk in the treatment room, lost 6 games in a row at home (we have lost only one other league game at home since April 2017) and won 26 points in our final ten games when Klopp fixed the issue. The only "bad" season we had was last year but that is an anomaly given the consistency in all competitions in 21/22 and 23/24. My point was that the new manager does not need to be a Klopp personality, he does not need to immediately win trophies, but he needs to carry the weight of the position well, play good football, show that there is a plan and be competitive. If he does that, he will be given time, especially by the matchgoing fan. However, he will need a body of work to be safe from a bad season. Klopp's results since he got here could only have resulted in being sacked from 3/4 clubs on the planet and that's because they are supported by a load of entitled twats.
  2. Not a go at you, as De Zerbi is one of the front runners but how the fuck is De Zerbi regarded as elite?
  3. 4 aways in 9 if you include the Atalanta game. That's a fucking disgrace
  4. This isnt a slight on Klopp. I love tge man and think he is tge best manager in world football and is perfect for Liverpool. However, because of the cheats, and the toll chasing them has taken on the players and the manager (and other reasons obviously) we have had two poor seasons in the past four and Klopp's trophy haul here isn’t outrageous. We are used to average seasons. We can accept winning a trophy every two years. The narrative that the guy after Klopp is going to be under huge pressure to win immediately and would turn off some potential candidates is way off the mark, in my opinion. If he conducts himself as a Liverpool manager should, and to be fair Alonso has always come across well, plays good football, has a plan that seems to be working and there is progress being shown, then the next manager will get time from the fans. Granted there will be morons on social media calling for his head but fuck them. The Liverpool job is very attractive. Good, young, experienced, high achieving squad. An excellent youth system with a proven record of recruitment with a patient fanbase. Not to mention playing in the best league in the world (hate that but it's true), pitting your wits against the best managers. And with an expected 5 CL places available, it is a no brainer if he wants the challenge.
  5. Because Dean Saunders and Alan fucking Brazil would have contacts in the Liverpool dressing room. I wouldnt believe a word of it and even if I did, I wouldnt take notice of it. Gerrard and Carragher wanted Alan Curbishley. Let the footballers play and let Edwards and the new fella pick the manager.
  6. Casemiro out of the Brazil squad with injury. I presume that means he is out today. They'll have a choice of McTominay, Eriksen or Mount alongside Mainoo. They started Amarabat in the league game but he has not started a league game since. I think the bald man will go for this: Onana Wan-Bissaka Varane Maguire Dalot McTominay Mainoo Garnacho Fernandes Rashford Hojlund It's an ok side but we should have more than enough.
  7. The positivity around Spurs this season is a fucking joke. They are 4 points ahead of their total at this stage last season and they fucking stole 2/3 points off of us.
  8. Given needs to be kept off media duties because he is a Newcastle and Man City shill. Ridiculous
  9. I wouldnt be surprised if we'll need a reserve goalkeeper and Robbo's replacement needs to be put in place sooner rather than later. The new manager will probably want a couple of players to implement his own style also. The sales of Kelleher (if he goes), and a few of the kids/loanees with the wages of Thiago should go a long way towards paying for whatever is needed
  10. Arsenal - H - 31st Mar Villa - A - 3rd Apr Palace - A - 6th Apr Real Madrid - H - 9th Apr Luton - H - 13th Apr Real Madrid - A - 16th Apr Spurs - A - 20th Apr Thats a tough run of games.
  11. Or maybe Kelleher Bradley Konate Quansah Trent Szoboszlai Mac Allister Jones Elliott Nunez Gakpo Subs: Ramsay Beck Bajcetic Morton McConnell Gravenberch Nyoni Carvalho Clark Gordon Doak Koumas Danns
  12. Forest have 5 more points than Everton in their last 10 games, Luton have 6 more than Everton. If Everton's form doesn't pick up, they are going down.
  13. 2-1 in the Leverkusen game. With Qarabag down to 10 you'd fancy Xabi's men at home, from here
  14. Leverkusen still scoreless so 2-2 on aggregate. Would be good for us if they went out
  15. Aside from Mo and Robertson, the average age of the other 9 players is 22. Fucking mad
  16. Shay Given is an embarrassment when it comrs to takes on both Newcastle and Manchester City. Fucking waste of a question. He will just give the Saudi/Abu Dhabi response.
  17. Arsenal have been very lucky with injuries. The fact that they've played only 2 cup games (including the 1st leg CL game 3 weeks ago) since 12th December has helped. For comparison, we have played 7, including an extra time final. There may be 2 extra FA cup games for us before the end of the league season, but we play Sparta in virtually a dead rubber on Thursday. Let's see how they get on playing tough midweek games (presuming they progress tonight).
  18. The 20/21 season was weird as on resumption after the covid break in the summer we had the league wrapped up and were not in top form. However, if we count the 10 games prior to the break then in the final 10 games we won 9 and lost just 1. Our form at the end of the season, for each of the last 5 seasons, has been exceptional. We have played 50 games, won 41, drawn 9 and lost none. If we repeat that form, we will get 26-27 points in our remaining games this season. That, and therefore a final tally of 90/91 points, will win the league, in my opinion.
  19. Allisson Trent Matip Konate Bajcetic Gravenberch Thiago Jones Salah* Jota Doak Some team that. *Obviously was fit enough for 30 minutes but...
  20. We had everyone except Robertson fit for the reverse fixture and this was the team Klopp went with. 5 of the starters along with Gravenberch (and maybe Konate) are missing this. They were only missing De Bruyne and have all except Grealish available for this. Arsenal pinned us back last month and I think a big reason for it was that Gomez turned inside all the time. Robbo's left foot is probably the only plus point (form-wise) he has at the moment to start ahead of Bradley/Gomez but I think Klopp starts him with Joe on the right and Quansah will replace Konate at CB, whether Gomez is picked at full back or not. We will need a super-human effort to get a win and to get the stadium rocking we probably need to be more aggressive than normal. It will be close but I think we have the character to get over the line.
  21. I saw the first two goals and both were howlers from Dunk. Can't really blame injuries on those
  22. The way Robertson is playing tonight, Joe is being rested for Sunday
  23. Kelleher Gomez1 Quansah Konate Robbo Elliott Endo Macca Gakpo Nunez Diaz Subs: Maybe VvD at HT for Konate, and a bit later McConnell (or Clark depending on the score) for Mac Allister, Szoboszlai for Nunez and Salah for Diaz.
