Playing in Spurs stadium tonight and tomorrow. Not Axl related as such but tonight is meant to have been a shambles so far. The gates opened up 2 hours later than the announced time meaning that the first supported act was jibbed off. Guns n’ Roses and were meant to start at 6:45 but took to the stage at 8 (that’s not bad for them, to be honest). And, the sound is meant to be awful with reports that people in the stands and golden circle can’t hear any vocals or guitars and hundreds of people have reportedly cut their losses and just got off from the stadium.

It transpires that the Halifax “exodus” consists of 150 odd people who’ve claimed to have left/closed their accounts.

Spurs last won a trophy in 2008. That was the league cup. If one of your players sees a move to Spurs as being an upwards move, then you’d imagine that Evertonians would reassess their misguided beliefs that their club is a big one. They won’t though.

To clarify, I meant purely in the sense of the possible meaning of the word used. Obviously, two different situations are going to be different. But, in the Suarez case, people were using a specific defence which relied on the words used and their assigned meaning in the culture of the person who used the words - “negrito” in Suarez’s case. People argued purely on this basis that there was no racism or racist intent as the term is often used in a friendly or everyday sense in South America. The same could apply for Piquet’s use of the term “neguinho.” Although, I don’t know why he couldn’t have just referred to him as Lewis. What with that being his name and that!
