  1. Not sure actually .. I've got the black away shirt from the season before last and the training jacket.. I'll be fucking incognito amongst the masses. I'll be with my Dad, 7yr old son and my uncle though, so as much as I'd like to get on it with you guys beforehand / after but probably won't get the chance.
  2. Yep, we're flying out in the morning though. I'll have to see some clients during the day I think.
  3. I'll be the guy in the Liverpool getup. You can't miss me.
  4. Still heaps available all day with jetstar. I'm on the 9am flight so I can make a day of it.
  5. Just in case anyone missed out: Tribal Sports Management An allocation of 5,000 tickets for Liverpool v Melbourne Victory will go on sale tomorrow with a further 18,000 MCC tickets to go on sale Friday. https://www.facebook.com/tribalsportsmanagement/posts/580075168699005?notif_t=notify_me This was one of the groups I was trying to get presale stuff through. Not sure what the seats are like... Or prices.
  6. * I'm in no way affiliated with the above site. It was just in case anyone missed out. I've got my seats in m22... a bit close to the Melbourne support for my liking but I'm just happy I got them. I'm really excited about this. I get to go with my 7yr old Son who is getting right into football, my Dad, and my Uncle, who is the only person I get to talk about LFC to. He and my mum were born in Liverpool but raised over here. It's going to be a bit special for us... Really looking forward to this.
  7. If you contact the guys from mventertainment.com.au, they have seats available in sections m1-m7, which is right in the guts of the kop active area. They're $199 each though. He contacted me this morning, because I hit him up during the week just in case I didn't get my hands on any. Thought I'd let the forum know just in case.
  8. Yeah I had to try gold as I knew the "active area" would be gone in seconds. I would have got extra just in case anyone wanted one, but they were too expensive to do that. 10 tickets per order is way too much. That's what fucked it.
  9. The kop end will be the city end of the stadium. The Ponsford stand I think. Should be a good experience for my young fella.
  10. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers lauds A-League ahead of his side's clash with Melbourne Victory By David Davutovic and staff writers FOX SPORTS April 03, 2013 10:00AM Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has sung the praises of football in Australia after it was announced his side would play Melbourne Victory on our shores as part of their pre-season preparations. Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard will headline a full-strength and star-studded Liverpool squad to tour Melbourne in July. The Reds will take on Melbourne Victory at the MCG on Wednesday 24th July and event organisers are confident of selling the game for the club's first visit to Australia. Rodgers says after watching matches on television and talking with British managers plying their trade in Australia, he's a fan of what he sees. "I spoke to Robbie Fowler, and I’ve got friends who’ve been managers there," Rodgers said. "The trail of British coaches that end up out there shows it’s a league that’s professional and improving all the time." Rodgers might even use the tour as a scouting mission, after he praised the calibre of players in the A-League. "They’ve got some technical, gifted players, the quality is at a very high level," he said. Liverpool have a massive supporter base in Australia thanks largely to its extraordinary success in the '70s and '80s plus the arrival of Kop crowd favourite Australian Craig Johnston. Liverpool is having a resurgence under new manager Brendan Rodgers having not won a title since 1990, after going close to winning the Premier league under Spaniard Rafa Benitez. Liverpool arrives just four days after Manchester United plays an A-League All-Star side at Sydney's ANZ Stadium. And the MCG will cater for Reds fans with the City end set to be renamed The Kop End while the Punt Road end will cater for Victory's active supporters. Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones is also set to be part of the touring squad, which will prove an important part of Liverpool's 2013-14 pre-season preparations. Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre vowed to bring a full squad and said the Reds will also conduct community work during its visit. "As well as a full Liverpool squad, the club will be bringing over staff from the Liverpool FC Foundation to carry out work in the community throughout the visit,''Ayre said. "This will be the first time that the club has visited Australia to play a match and we are delighted to be playing against Melbourne Victory, one of the most successful clubs in the A-League. "We know we have a large fan base in Australia and New Zealand and this visit shows our commitment to bringing the club closer to our fans all over the globe, no matter how far away from Anfield they may live. "We are very much looking forward to playing in Melbourne and giving our supporters a chance to see the team up close.'' Pre sales start on Tuesday exclusive to Liverpool, Victory and MCG members before being open to the public next Thursday from 9am. Reading that bit above in bold, it looks there will end up being a bunch of tickets available prior to the public sale on the Thursday. So even if you miss out on the general sale, there will no doubt be heaps on ebay.* Or perhaps some of the good people of TLW that are club members, can buy tickets in the presale to generously help out fellow reds. Fellow reds that don't have agendas**, and don't go on about the same shit in everything thread... you know, those fellow reds... *I do not condone scalping. However, I have bought tickets to shit I really want to see before on ebay. Also, for some reason that is inserting a link.. ** Even if you do have an agenda, feel free to hook a brother up with some presale tickets.
  11. Bang on!!!! Anyone know when the tickets will be on sale? Can someone PM me or post here when they find out? I am there.
  12. Sydney or Melbourne I don't care really. If it happens I'm there. I do love visiting Melbourne though..
  13. Victoria and NSW set to square off as EPL heavyweights Liverpool consider game in Australia The Victorian and NSW governments are expected to go head-to-head in a bitter battle to secure the rights to host Barclays Premier League giant Liverpool for a friendly in July. Liverpool officials attended Saturday night's A-League match between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC at AAMI Park and are in talks with Sydney's ANZ Stadium and Football Federation Australia for the Reds to make their first visit to the country. It's understood Liverpool is considering playing two games in Australia - one in Sydney and one in Melbourne. The news comes on top of the announcement late last year that the NSW government had outbid Victoria with a $3 million commitment for Manchester United to play an A-League All Stars team at ANZ Stadium on July 20. In an attempt to save face after being criticised for missing out on United, the Victorian government is understood to be ready to pull out all stops to host Liverpool. Leading agent Lou Sticca, who brought David Beckham to Australia three times as well as Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero to Sydney FC, is the man behind the Liverpool venture. It is believed it will cost somewhere around $2.5m, though that will be easily offset because the game would be a guaranteed money-spinner. While Liverpool has not had much success in recent times, the club is an iconic football entity and boasts massive worldwide support almost the equal of Manchester United. Uruguay international Luis Suarez and club legend Steve Gerrard headline a squad that is starting to produce some quality football and results under new coach Brendan Rodgers. The Victorian government is keen to get away from the "gimmicky" All Stars concept and wants the English club to play Melbourne Victory, the best supported club in the A-League, at the MCG in a game that would draw at least 80,000. However, Victoria is in for some stiff competition as ANZ Stadium officials have been in discussions with Liverpool for some time now and are determined to put another one over Victoria. If Sydney gets the match, which will most likely be held on July 28, it is envisaged Liverpool will also play against the A-League stars, who would be kept together after the Manchester United fixture. "You saw what happened with the ticket sales for the Manchester United match . . . they sold out to the football family in 30 minutes while tickets to the general public went in two minutes," an ANZ Stadium spokesman said. "We are sure there would be a similar response from the public with Liverpool. "We have been in discussions with the club for some time now. Manchester United is OK with them coming out and the NSW government is OK with the idea as well. If we get Liverpool it will be the icing on the cake for a super July of sport at ANZ Stadium and in NSW." Sorry if this has already been posted.
  14. Any decent red pubs in Sydney. I'm here for the weekend so might head out.. even if it is a bit late on a Sunday night.
  15. Mum went back to the UK last year to meet up with the extended family, and it turns out we are actually related to Ringo. Ace, I can keep claiming it. Also, on my mum's side, her cousin is a doctor at the forefront of gene research. Anyway, he knows Steven Hawking and reckons he's a massive douche. True story.
  16. Pretty sure he's referring to Toni Silva who's been on loan at Northampton Town. One of the players out on loan who I think is actually good enough... well, will be I hope.
  17. I'll be in Melbourne this weekend. Are there any pubs in the CBD that will have a good atmosphere to watch the game. Thanks in advance.
  18. I will say that Australians are more racist towards Aborigines, than any other person of colour. There are still very open wounds between white and black Australia. Not starting an argument here DG, just affirming that we do infact have a clue about racism.
  19. Ummm, we get racism. I see it often, from both sides. However it is a very different history of abuse that black/white in the UK or US. Just as horrible, but entirely different. More akin to the Native American plight than the enforced slavery of Africans. That said, you are right in the above statement about the tribal feud. It's between two blackfellas*, and nothing racist about it. I think Aussie Scouser was perhaps referring to the notion that he might not get as harsh a public/media reaction as Suarez did for saying a word, as it's just "a tribal feud" rather than somebody attacking someone with a machete.** *as racist a word as negrito.. not very. Well, where I'm from anyway. I'm a whitefella, he's a blackfella. **Perhaps, I don't actually know if that's what he's trying to say.
  20. Yep, ridiculous. it just doesn't cost that much to post something as light as clothing. Still, AU$100 for 3 tops is ok, I guess. Good excuse to get one though, and the kids will dig the new ones.
  21. Sorry, thanks for the heads up! Pity though, as I just bought my uncle a top last week for his birthday. He's the one who got me passionate about the club, it's where he and my mum were born. And he's the only one i get to talk about the game with. Anyway, it would have been good to get his in with these ones. Oh well, I gotta try and get a few hours sleep before the game, on at 1am here I think. Big day gents. Good luck.
