  1. I thought the offsides were soft calls for both teams honestly. We’ve been the better side but we have a problem with scoring in finals.
  2. RIP. 64 seems incredibly young all things considered.
  3. That's what I see too, Curtis tries to catch himself but fails so crouches to balance and try to stay on his feet. Since their player trying to keep him from going for the ball at the same time that momentum takes his weight over his planted foot causing eversion of the ankle over-stretching/damaging the ligaments. In this particular case it really just appears to be genuine bad luck, as it doesn't appear particularly egregious in the .gif there. In general I don't know that there's much that can be done to increase ankle mobility/ROM to the outside of the body anyway. Specifically to this incident the only thing you could really say was he would've be better off not trying to catch himself and going down like an extra in a war drama sniper scene.
  4. Is it wrong for me to hope that Chelsea just ruin their players for the next 3 years?
  5. These injuries are probably going to fuck us long term but all the more reason to carry on and get these beat. The ref Is a cunt but that’s not anything new.
  6. Yea Lucas is a decent shout. I think the Italian league suited him anyway and that was especially true after that knee injury took his athleticism down a notch from what it needed to be as a premier league regular. Hard to say we missed him as Henderson basically took on that same role but I always rated Lucas. Will always wonder what would’ve been if that goal went in during the derby when Phil Neville decided to play keeper.
  7. Still using the old "B Team" excuse. Clueless twat hasn't learned a thing, but of course with his outstanding record in his 47 year career why would he bother changing?
  8. Thought it was Martin Broughton that lined up Hodgson, not that I really want to absolve Purslow of his decisions regarding the football side of things.
  9. I think Diaz absolutely chose not to pass to him, and I also think it was a bad decision by Diaz but to be honest I expect Diaz to generally take one touch to many. I suppose it's possible that he somehow thought Darwin could've been offsides though. We'll never know if Darwin would've scored from that particular moment but the player in Diaz position should be making that pass 100% of the time.
  10. The national side and media vitriol surrounding his place in it is definitely something I hadn't ever considered. Very good point and adds some perspective to why he seems so intent on the position change. Fair enough that he'll believe he can be the best in the world there. I don't see it at all based on his overall workrate over the last 12+ months, granted I don't know what Southgate is asking of England's midfield at the moment, that shit would've never flown in a Klopp midfield though. I suppose we'll have to see what the new manager thinks over this coming summer, whoever that is.
  11. I see the same thing with Trent although I'm sure he also wasn't completely match fit on Sunday. Whilst he's maybe never been the most technically sound defender, particularly in terms of positioning part of which is down to how we play, he used to sprint back and make a nuisance of himself. As a 1v1 defender I don't think he's as bad as many make him out to be when he's not just made a lung busting run to cover the space. The issue is that he doesn't seem to want to do that anymore and he also doesn't seem to want to bomb up the wing anymore which is odd because his crosses are amongst the best in the game today but of course that's part of why we shifted to the inverted fullback role for him. That role also makes it easier for him to get back defensively but depending on who else is on the right it either sacrifices our width on that side or as we saw a lot last season it pulls Mo wide and therefore away from the goal. Neither of those are ideal, fortunately we bought Dom who can/will provide that width himself but when he's out we're stuck trying Gravenberch, Elliot, or Gakpo there and all of those have their cons when asked to do that. I've said it before but somehow Trent seems to have become convinced he's better off trying to be an above average midfielder than being a world class fullback. It doesn't make any sense to me and it especially doesn't make any sense to me in this team under Jurgen Klopp who's always prized industry over creativity/freedom from the midfielders during his time here. I'm honestly not even sure what the best way to use Trent in midfield would be. Off the top of my head I'd say in a double pivot with a real destroyer type like Mascherano was alongside him. Is that really the move he wants to make though? Maybe it's just me but playmaker style Defensive Midfielder doesn't seem any more glamorous of a role than swashbuckling fullback.
  12. Just saw some ESPN FC clip where the headline is that "Arsenal Tore Liverpool to Shreds". I didn't bother watching to be fair (it's about 20 minutes and I can't be bothered at this point), but watching that game I think we played shit, truly, but I wouldn't say we were torn to shreds. It could've gone that way in the first half, but we somehow ended up level, as Arsenal did what they do and didn't take any other chances they created. I know horseshoes and handgrenades and all that but the way the game was going in the second I don't think we end up losing if not for the huge VVD Alisson double fuck up. We had finally started to get a foothold in the game. Arsenal were looking as if they were more scared of losing than they were of drawing, and then of course with Konate's sending off we got done on the break by a solo effort that still needed a deflection to beat Alisson because we were still actually trying to get back in the game. This all with us having to change our gameplan at most a day before with Dom's injury resurfacing and Bradley's personal tragedy.
  13. When I read the thread title the 4-0 against Madrid at Anfield immediately came to mind so I'm going with that one. Never got near us the whole match. A shame that team didn't make the final that season.
