    Car leasing

In general, they are more open-minded than you might think over wear and tear, because they know the car is susceptible to the same wear and tear as a privately owned vehicle of the same type/age/usage. However, if it looks like it's had more dings than a Hong Kong taxi, they could enforce some of the penalty clauses that are in the fine print.

    Ennio Morricone

I remember years ago I was given one of those chillout compilations as a Secret Santa gift. I was vaguely familiar with this tune from before, but I had no idea Morricone was behind it because I'd always associated him with spaghetti westerns. 'Chi Mai'.

One of the true greats. This one was used in Kill Bill as well.

Quite the achievement after getting bummed 9-0 at home by Leicester earlier in the season.
  10. Nous. Organisation. Liveliness. Grit. Bravado. Tenacity. Precision. Urgency. Nuisance-factor. Skill. I don't ask for much. Hypnotise our players into thinking it's not done and dusted if that's what it takes, so they approach this game with the same intensity and focus they did in the majority of our games prior to the lockdown. Brighton have got a bit of breathing space between them and the sides at the bottom, so I've no idea if they'd rest some of their main players to save them for games against teams they feel they are more likely to get points from. We just need to do our thing, and for some of our lads at least, that means not playing like they're distracted, half-arsed or drunk!

    Nike deal

Barcelona have had to postpone the release of their new kits because of colour run issues. They are apparently considering suing Nike for potential loss of revenue as they've had to return all their stock so haven't got any new kits to sell yet. Greedy bastards though the Catalan club are, it's worth keeping an eye on because it might indicate that Nike have production issues that could affect all their teams.
  12. The players are finding it difficult to get physically and mentally tuned in to the task at hand because, other than trying to set a new points record and completing a clean sweep at home, there isn't much left for them to play for. The main job has been done already. As a result, we are seeing disjointed performances like these. That doesn't excuse some of the individual calamities and cruising through games we've seen from a few of our players. Intensity is our identity, as the saying goes. That means intensity of application as well as intensity of focus. It's something the squad needs to learn and adapt to quickly. Doing it when you have a target to aim for is one thing, but keeping it going when a race has been won is the next challenge. Being able to do that means that slackness and thinking you've won it all will simply not do. Good goals from Sadio and Curtis. The latter opening his Premier League account a day after signing a new contract, just like Saka of Arsenal. Hopefully Curtis can get a few more appearances under his belt in the remaining games. The slapdicks in the VAR studio need to get off Netflix and start paying attention to the games. They've dropped quite a few clangers this week.

'Two Little Boys' takes on a whole new meaning. Was going to mention Allison Mack and her sex cult thing. Britney Spears going batshit and shaving her hair off. Joe Scarborough murdering somebody (if you believe the insane ramblings of the orange fuckwit across the pond).

    Wimbledon 2019

Goran was great to watch at times, and you could tell he gave a fuck. There have been more talented players down the years who haven't given it their all (Marcelo Rios and Nick Kyrgios to name but two) and others who aren't as good but are completely not arsed (Bernard Tomic). Goran could veer from the sublime to the ridiculous in the space of two points. Was pleased when he finally won Wimbledon as a wild card in 2001 (Henman fucked up his own chances of reaching a Grand Slam final by getting into net-hitting double-faulting come-on-Tim! mode when the semi final was in his hands). A shame that it came at the expense of Pat Rafter though, because he was a great player to watch and one of the nicest players in the game.

    Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Thiago is a very good player but I can't see how he'd fit into the squad. A few weeks back, there was a lot of discussion about David Alaba. I'm not sure he is likely to or even wants to leave Bayern, but he is exactly the sort of player that could fit in. Klopp likes versatile players, and he is versatile enough that he would get a lot of games.

Their ownership has brought a lot of positives to the club. We have a successful team again. We've seen progress with the stadium and the training facilities. We have a stability that simply wasn't there under the previous ownership. Are all of these progressing as quickly as we would like? Of course not. A lot of fans complain that the owners don't invest enough in the team. We have a low net spend compared to teams challenging for the same honours. We keep hearing that we might not sign any new players. Of course that sounds worrying. I get the idea that standing still means you go backwards. I get the worries that we are still short of alternatives in key positions. What I don't get - and can't understand - are those people who are accusing them of taking money out of the club. There is no financial chicanery going on. Especially not on the type some are suggesting, which requires a leap in logic that would be the envy of David Icke or that catshitinmyeye blert over at GOT. If some random cunt on Twitter suggests it, treat it as bollocks. Random cunts on Twitter exclusively talk bollocks. Where I have a worry is when I look at the development of the Red Sox after they won the World Series. They've won it 4 times in the 18 years they've been owned by Henry and co, which is the best record in MLB. However, those wins have been spaced out, with no years where the team got to the World Series only to lose. Some of those winning years have fallen in between years where the Red Sox posted some of their worst seasons. They haven't been able to build on success consistently. There's a lot of boom and bust. Boom and bust works well in the closed shop of MLB where they have salary caps, luxury taxes for breaching salary caps, and first pick in the drafts for the lowest placed teams. It gives every team a chance to pick things up and get better. The bigger teams with the most money (like the Red Sox) can do this much quicker. This system doesn't apply in football though, where you need to keep the boom years up or else you can fall away and really struggled to make your way back. I don't think anyone at the club has suggested the current squad can't get better therefore doesn't need investing in, but at the same time you cannot assume that the squad will not plateau or begin to fall away. There's always a chance that players can lose motivation or begin to develop fitness issues when previously neither was a concern. I guess what I'm saying is that owners need to recognise that there are pitfalls even when things are going well, and that what works now might not be effective even 6 months down the line.
