He's never been a great passer of the ball but when he's playing further back he's afraid to use his strength and pace to burst forward so he just ends up laying it off or turning backwards. I like having him in the team because unlike Lucas, Joe Allen and Milner nobody carries the ball past him but Klopp really needs to work on his confidence. Oxlade Chamberlain on the other hand is beginning to look good playing deeper.

I'm looking forward to this, which never happens when we play West Brom. That just shows how good our front four are at the moment. I hope we absolutely rub Pardew's shiny nose in it.

If Mané is out I hope we play Coutinho wide left. Sturridge through the middle and Firmino wide left has been horrible more times than I can remember.

I don't think he's been benched because he's not good enough. He played the full 90 against Brazil I think and he'll probably start on Tuesday.

Definitely a foul and the officials missed it. It reminded me a bit of that game against West Ham away a couple of years ago. I was yelling at Mignolet for dropping a simple cross and replays showed that Andy Carol had smacked it out of his hands. Having said that, there's no way Okazaki should have been left alone with Mignolet in the first place. If someone goes and stands in front of your keeper then you have to have a man back to get between the two. It's basic and you could see Leicester doing it all game against Wijnaldum on Tuesday. Similarly for the second goal, Mignolet maybe should have done better with the initial shot but why on earth was Demarai Gray completely unmarked in the Liverpool penal area when we were 3-1 up? There's lots of talk about individual errors but we can definitely be set up to defend better.

If the idea is that everyone gets a rest then we could line up as follows: Ward Moreno Gomez Lovren Flanno Henderson Wijnaldum Grujic Woodburn Solanke AOC Not great but better than some of the teams we've put out in the cups recently. If Gomez really is supposed to be a backup centre back then he really needs to play there because Klavan and Lovren are both looking dreadful. I would have liked to have seen Woodburn in the midfield but we don't have enough quality wide forward players unfortunately.

I've just put 100 quid on him staying. Only 1-3 but the cut-off date is before 1st September. If he does go it'll surely be the following day when the Spanish window closes.

Pretty underwhelmed by this. I don't think that he has the quality or end product to play in the front three, which is where we're lightest. His pace and energy mean that he could definitely be made to fit into a midfield three but whenever I've seen him playing in the middle his off the ball movement has been horrible. I'd worry that he'd make us even more defensively suspect than we already are. Krychowiak has just gone to West Brom on loan for a year. I'd have rather we'd signed someone like him and put the 30 million or so we saved into offering Can a better contract. Anyway, he's signing now so I hope he's fucking ace and I look like a know nothing cunt.
