  1. Can I join? I'm an MVP on an online Excel forum. A few of us hipsters used to chat together over ICQ on Friday nights.

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

It was lovely to watch last night, for sure.

To be fair, he's managing a mid-table club.

Might rain tomorrow apparently- be a shame if it did, I'd like to see Rashid and Anderson win the game in the last over.

Same, I don't really like exercising in doors. Rowing's a good cardio work out, but it's boring sitting there in the same spot rather than running through the countryside.
  6. Bit of an oldie- I was going to re-watch Buffy with my youngest- he's 13 and we thought it'd be nice to do something that didn't involve him sitting in his room constantly playing GTA, Fortnite or Rainbow 6 with his mates. Sadly, he didn't get into it, and went back to sitting in his room constantly playing GTA, Fortnite or Rainbow 6 with his mates. Surprisingly though, I'm really enjoying it and I've carried on watching it. It's still smart and funny and Buffy and Cordelia are hot as fuck. The angsty bits with Angel are a bit dull, but the story arcs are done well, and the monster of the week episodes are often great fun. Solid 8/10 so far, but I remember it disappearing up its arse in later series, so I'll watch up to Hush with the creepy Gentlemen (which freaked my missus out when we first watched it about 15-20 years ago), then maybe switch to Angel for some more Charisma Carpenter goodness.

Oh hang on- do you have to run with your phone? I use a Garmin watch, so it'd be good if I could just upload runs from that to it.

    Running

Cheers, I'll give that a whirl when I start up again, probably towards the end of February- the weather here can be a bitch over winter, so I usually leave it for a while save getting interrupted with snow and ice and just do weights and rowing in the meantime. Previously, I've always found 'off the shelf' schedules to either be completely noddy or far too intense, and I've ended up pissing about taking bits from one and bits from another, which isn't ideal. If the app can tailor itself to me then that'd be great.

I haven't run a half marathon distance before, 10KM is my limit after damaging my knee, but are you able to run more frequently, say 4-5 times a week? You could spread about half the distance over 3-4 of those, and do a longer weekend run, pushing that one out over 8-10 weeks until you hit the 15-20K mark. Also, is there a local running club you could join up with? You'd get tailored advice from the coaches there.

Yes, definitely, the Nike+ stuff is very good. I used the 5 and 10K training programmes (5K one is attached) before and they're great. nike-run-club-5k-en_LU.pdf

That's intervals, and yes, they're a bit of a bastard. Fartlek is unstructured running- you just do what you feel like at variable pace and distance. This explains the difference between them. If you're doing a half marathon, I'd concentrate on getting your distance up first and not worry about your pace until you're doing at least 25-30 km per week. Increase your runs steadily, say by about 10- 20% per week, until you hit that, and then start adding in intervals, tempo runs and the like and your running should come on leaps and bounds. You should still be looking to do 80% of your runs at a steady pace though.

Nah, you get more time to smoke on the longer runs.

18 wickets yesterday, possibly none at all today. Very strange Test, mainly because of England being shite.

Burns and Jennings steadily chipping away. With both averaging in the mid 20s, we should only need about 580 from the rest of the team.

538 runs behind now, WI still with 4 wickets in hand. Anything over 600 and we could be struggling here.

Get them all out by tea, that'll give us 2 days and a bit to knock off the 550 or so runs needed. Easy.

Mad game, now West Indies collapse- 4 wickets for one run.

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

They'll need to expand it to the super 11 or maybe the terrific 13 the way they're going. Oh, and- https://www.lfchistory.net/SeasonArchive/Game/5669 - Average age of the Liverpool starting lineup: 25.51 - Average age of the Everton starting lineup: 26.5 Terrifying.

Should the UK remain a member of the EU

Yep, fears of a 'coalition of chaos', how ironic. I remember being shocked when the exit poll predicted an outright Tory majority, as well as this-
  21. Must be a design flaw- as you consume the filthy muck, the warning symbols on the plate are slowly revealed and you realise that you've just eaten a teratogenic biocide.
  22. That's already been eaten at least once, I take it? And the red streak is blood from the person who served it.

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

Quite. I don't think they'll get dragged into the bottom 8, but looking at the fixtures they have left, they've already played the 'easy' teams at home, and have a number of potentially tricky away games against relegation strugglers. They've also got to play the entire top 7 at home, bar Spurs. Could get very messy.

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

Especially when their only two wins were against Bournemouth at home and Burnley.
