  1. It’ll only be that if we lose Virgil or Konate or both. The odds on that happening though…….
  2. Arsenal were always going to blow up last season, I think we all knew they would under pressure from City, but I believe the view some take that you have to go close like that before you eventually win it, as we did in 2019. They look the real deal to me, (as has been said, those late winners are no coincidence), and by improving gradually, buying big for Rice to improve their midfield (instead of having wholesale changes!) they’ve been able to add steel and goal threat. City are by no means a busted flush, but I don’t know if de Bruyne will be as good if/when he returns and they only need to lose Silva or Rodri to injury for a while to make them vulnerable. They are still the team to beat with Haaland up front though. We will be in the mix if we continue to improve and become more consistent, but dropping points against the dross isn’t an option for a title winning team.
  3. This. He chipped Alisson from inside the box in the game at Anfield, when neither of them realised he’d been flagged offside and I thought, “this fella is the real deal”. I understand why patience is wearing thin, however he’s not the only one to have missed an easy chance today, both Salah and Haaland did too, but he needs to start converting the ones that come his way more often before it costs us dearly.
  4. A 0-0 draw, with them having 3 goals disallowed through VAR and a last minute penalty miss saved by the United goalkeeper being a yard off his line when the ball is kicked would ramp up the fume perfectly. And the banner to fall off the plane on its way to wherever they are wanting it seen.
  5. Everton v Wimbledon, 7th May 1994. Where would they be now? Discuss.
  6. Doesn’t matter if Kavanaughs brother has a City season ticket or not, he shouldn’t be near any game involving City, or United, because of the close proximity to those clubs that he lives. The same goes for any official being appointed similarly. Webb should be hauled over the coals for a) putting his official(s) in a potentially awkward position in the first place and b) allowing the PGMOL to be questioned about its “neutrality” by not appointing officials who live away from the area of the clubs they are officiating. It is of course still possible that an official who comes from, say, Kent could still be a City or, more likely, a United fan, but it’s taking the piss and flipping the bird to everyone to continue making these appointments when there is so much controversy in so many games due to the officials.
  7. If, as has been mooted, they appeal, and if the PL have pursued this course of action partially because Everton were taking the piss, then surely the PL will look for a more punitive measure than -10 points? Is it like making a spurious appeal against a red card, you can end up with a bigger ban than you started off with, or doesn’t it work like that because an independent body made the judgement?
  8. City would never be able to shake off the stench of being found guilty, whether they have their “titles” removed or not. The asterisks will be there irrespective of whether they are included in any listings on the Premier League’s website or not. The titles should be removed though, if found guilty, as they wouldn’t have won them fairly and, as with Olympic titles, they should be awarded to whoever came second. Maybe we won’t be able to celebrate in the way we would have liked, but our players and staff should get the recognition they deserve by having their names in the record books and not City’s, or anyone else who have similarly cheated.
  9. Paragraph 135 made for interesting reading. ” A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty.” ”The issue is not the form of sanction, but its extent.” Wonder what City and Chelsea think about those statements.
  10. Know lots of blues, most of my family support them, and the reaction has been predictable. It isn’t their fault, they only did what the PL advised them to do, the punishment is far too draconian for a measly £19.5M, the Super League Six got a slap on the wrist in comparison, City will get away with much less, Everton do so much good work in the community and for charities, they lost £50M through Gylfi Sigurddson not being able to play for them, then when his contract terminated he was cleared of any wrongdoing, the PL have had it in for them for decades etc. etc.. The overriding thing none of them accept is that they have been caught cheating. That’s the crux of the matter. Plain and Simple. Cheats, and they’ll forever be known as such. Another Everton first.
  11. I see the club has asked them for seat preferences according to one poster. The clever one’s (there will be a few) have bagged all the one’s near the exits.
  12. They’ll get the 12 points off this season for FFP and survive because there are three teams all 12 points worse than they are, they’ll likely do it the last game of the season, so another celebratory pitch invasion and DVD can happen. Then next season they’ll get another 12 points for administration and because there’ll be another three teams 12 points worse than they are it’ll happen again. Rinse and repeat. As for City, the PL Committee will likely end up saying sorry for inconveniencing them while on an Abu Dhabi sponsored two week visit to the Middle East “fact finding”.
  13. Last season he looked annoyed most of the time, at himself and at others, unsurprisingly because his standards are so high. At the start of the season, I wasn’t convinced he’d be the best choice as Captain, I thought maybe Robbo would be, but as the team has got better, so has he and the two are definitely linked. He’s smiling more and the captaincy seems to have regenerated him, therefore his performance level has gone to something approaching his best. Even at 90% he’s the best defender in the Premier League and I hope he shows that against Haaland in the next game.
  14. I know Haaland is a bull so most players would have a problem holding him back legally, but Cucurella is a brain dead prick though, made it easy for Haaland to go over and claim the penalty, holding him before the ball was even played in, then getting himself wrong side of him. Plus, the referee being from a completely neutral part of Manchester helped arrive at the correct decision.
  15. They can defend decently in numbers, are fairly dangerous when they have corners/free kicks due to their grock co-efficient, have three decent players in Pickford (stop sniggering) Onana and Calvert-Lewin and Branthwaite and Harrison who are half decent. In other words, they are the epitome of a mid table team, who might put some decent teams to the sword on their day, but who City will bum mercilessly. Too good for the drop though as there are three teams worse than them.
  16. Letting us beat Brentford without too much controversy is the perfect set up for the Etihad on the 25th. Wonder who the officials will be for that one.
  17. Endo, like the rest of the team, did pretty well today. There was more drive and application from the whole team from front to back, and I thought after recent games, Brentford might have presented us with a stiffer test than they did, and that was down to us playing at the pace we set and with everyone doing their job well. He was available for passes, didn’t put many (any?) astray, intercepted and tackled well, and even turned up at left back near the end to flick away a dangerous cross at the far post. Given he hasn’t been a regular starter, he fitted in ok and didn’t let himself or anyone else down. Not sure what more he needed to do other than that.
  18. Finding it hard going being a “big” team aren’t they. There’ll be a splurge of cash in January no doubt.
  19. It’s always been the case, at all levels of football, that you have to first meet and surpass the effort or challenge from your opponents, then usually your skill/superior level should win the day. A “better” team having a day off will be beaten by a “lesser” team playing out of their skin. That’s what FA Cup shocks are about typically. The term “mentality monsters” was coined when we were meeting and overcoming every challenge, pretty much. We need the players to be in that frame of mind for a start.
  20. Agree with all that, especially the last paragraph, but I’m beginning to doubt whether there will ever be those competent or unbiased enough to make it work properly. If that’s the case it needs fucking off.
  21. Hard to disagree with the result, given we were so shit and they were much more up for it. The contentious VAR decision gives yet more ammunition for those who think it’s a waste of time and a joy destroyer, and I have to say that, after thinking it was a good thing, I’m now starting to doubt its effectiveness, but only because there’s no consistency anywhere from those who operate it. We should still win the group, and go through easily, but whether we’re able to win this thing will depend on us not repeating performances like tonights and it’s also a bit concerning that, especially in the last two games, we’ve looked lethargic and unable to dictate the pace of play, we don’t look like the mentality monsters we were and we really need to be somewhere back there to threaten City, and some of the others, if we want to be challenging for trophies and a high finish in the league . It’ll be very interesting to see what we produce against Brentford as a precursor to playing City.
  22. Thick as fuck Tsimikas. Not the only one. Need to wake the fuck up and dictate the pace more.
  23. If Salah meant that as a headed pass, then it would have been from the centre of his forehead and Salah’s head movement would have been towards where he wanted the ball to go. Neither was the case, and as we all know, Mo doesn’t pass a chance on to anyone in those situations.
  24. Salah’s header is an abomination, anyone who thinks he’s squaring it to Nunez needs their head wobbling. He doesn’t pass to anyone in those situations. So when the ball comes to Nunez, it’s probably the last thing he’s expecting, although any striker should be putting that chance away really. To be fair to their keeper, he got across towards Nunez quickly and quite possibly put him off enough to make him try and put it high into the goal, but he fucked up. As has been said though, there was more wrong yesterday than those two missing presentable chances within 5 seconds of each other.
