I think you can find the nuance in the Endo signing. I think he'll be a decent player for us, and give us 3/4 years of service. He may even be a bit better than that in the near term. However it's still an indictment on the club and the way we have handled this rebuild. I think both things are true at the same time, regardless of whether they seem contradictory. Once he's a red all we can do is get behind him.

Agree. But It's alarming how out of touch our club is. It might sound silly but optics matter, and if you want to bring this guy in, you wait until you bring in the big midfielder and defender first before you announce it no? The worry now is that there aren't any big midfielders that make up for this. I haven't heard a name that would make me feel better about this signing. I think he will probably be an ok buy from what I've seen but that's about it.

This is good to know because press resistance and progressive passing were my two main reservations about him too. Based on everything I can see at Palace, he seems almost laborious on the ball. Would you rather Doucoure or Palinha? The age factor is the main thing that swings it for the former, but the latter feels a bit more robust and dynamic (albeit not a supreme ball player).

But he was also one at City straight after he left Chelsea. But to your point he may have stronger ties at Chelsea. Even if that is true...the market sets the rate, and City must have offered him a good wage. I really cannot believe that Chelsea are getting him for something ridiculous like 90K per week (which is a narrative their journos keep trying to push) and got him to sign a 7 year contract. They're offering these players good money. Who would sign away 7 years of their footballing career on a wage like 100K...cant believe it.

I think Kone would be great, especially as low cost but also has a decent ceiling. He could absolutely do a Gini job for us. Him and another more traditional DM would be what I would do now. Especially because Kone feels like he could also do a double pivot or the 8 if needs be.
