  1. Manchester United will not get away with a scrappy goal this time, I am sure of it. The hole we had last season are filled in defence and Mach should he play looks more settled and mature. The only shortcoming is indeed our attack but we seem slowly slowly to get to grips with it. We defend as a team and we attack as team, there can be no greater balance than that. It will only take one brilliant moment from Keane, Babel, Reira, Kuyt or Benayoun to open them up. Hopefully Torres will be there to finish the move off.
  2. Keane is quality, maybe a bit excessive paying 20 million for him but I do think that in the end he will show his true colour and come up trumps. It takes time to get used to a new formation and new surroundings.....some people are already writting him off after a hand full of games and 20 million or not, its not right. Get behind our players and trust in their ability to deliver.....You Will Never Walk Alone.........
  3. Maybe so, but we dont have to defend our selves to him nor do we need to justify our transfer activities to him. He only has a say in it cause he THINKS he has a right to, but like the Fabio Vs Harry Redknapp debacle, managers do not critisize other managers formations, transfer activities etc. Its disrespectfull. This was not something that he said in public but to the press, this was a planned ploy to whatever goals he had in mind.
  4. Agreed, but because its Sir Alex we are talking about here, people and the press give him the freedom to say whatever the fuck he wants. In the end it will come down to Keanes ability and does anyone here want to attack that??
  5. The way I look at it that comment was aimed at two fronts: At Liverpool for paying 20 million for a proven PL stiker that he doesnt think is worth that kind of money At Keane for not being a quality 20 million striker
  6. Depends which way you look at it. Going by the current squad you could argue that for the majority of the past two seasons Gerrard has been used out of position playing on the right wing or as a back up striker to Torres (images of the Newcaslte goal spings to mind). So by that means he had some success. Even with the Kuyt thing, I honeslty beleive that right now I would choose Kuyt over Pennant due to his work to operate on the wing. But I think this is down to the versatility of the players than the managers ability to convert players into other positions.....
  7. I heard about it and I couldnt beleive it to be honest. How is 20million being excessive for a proven quality PL striker is beyond me.......how much did he pay for Berba again? Of course the majority of the posts in this thread put this down to mind games and I have to agree with them. What Ferguson is trying to do is to unsettle Keane before the game because he sees him as a threat and make no mistake about it. Personally, Ferguson should look at his own hit and misses in the transfer market and stop this phsycological warfare that has been raving between him and Rafa for years. It comes down to this, commenting on another managers transfers is disrespectfull to say the least and I hope Keane rams it down he throat come Saturday at Anfield......
  8. Dirk Kuyt hopes to secure a new deal at Liverpool and insists he does not want to leave Anfield: Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | Liverpool | Kuyt keen for new deal Ryan Babel has revealed the secret of his trademark goal celebration – and promised fans they'll see a lot more of it this season: BABEL: MY FAITH IN SCORING GOALS Good thing that Kuyt wants to stay and solid promise from Babel that he will deliver more.
  9. Liverpool on a hat trick of titles, United sold off to McDonalds and with our stadium at 150,000 all fans just support ...
  10. Gerrard is a top, top player and there is no doubt in my mind that we will miss him for the united game.........HOWEVER....... with the absence of the captain I fully expect our team of winners to setp it up a gear or two and turly show the world what they are capable off. There is something of a winning mentality in the team and I fully expect them to play to that. Being at home and finally having a natural creative left footed winger I am expect no less than a win. Keane will lead the line should Torres not play and with Babel and the Chief back I am fully confident of the teams attacking capabilities. Without Torres and Gerrard, people think we are an average team.......time to prove the public, the critics and the fans wrong.
  11. Momentous joy then come crashing down to eath.......
  12. Babel has the ability to go on and become a great player, but right now he just needs to gain some experience before he becomes the next Ronaldo. I was more impressed with his pace and confidence than the actuall cross though....
  13. Does it matter now where Barry would have played? What matters now is that we have Keane a natural selection to partner Torres or lead the line in his absence. Now Gerrard will be moved to his natural CM postion which he favours and is the more effective. There is nothing wrong with that logic once Keane starts chipping in the goals and the assists. I think the Torres-Gerrard axis was a temporary fix that worked too well for its own good. Now we clearly know where Gerrard needs/wants to play and where Keane is going to play. For better or for worse we have Keane now and he should not be overlooked.........
  14. Two very encouraging points: 1) He was not running at full speed and 2) Quality cross even thought I did not see him look up He can only get better from here, hopefully he starts on Sunday......
  15. Its hard finding optimism in the forums as of late, you sir have cheered me up. I like optimism, hell most of the time I am optimistic, and I have to say that although I dont think we will win 3-1 I do think Reira and Keane will have sreamers of a game because a) its Reiras debut and I feeling confident of the fact that we have the best winger in Europe in our team and b) its Berba Vs Keane of which I am sure Keane will want to prove a thing or two to his old Spurs teamate. I am changing my verdict to 2-0 Reira and Keane and make no mistake, on Sunday a new era begins once again ;) ;) ;)
  16. You will be suprised. City with the money they are offering might attract some big names. But not all of them might be a success (see Shevchenco for more details).....
  17. I honestly think we will give United a run for their money, especially with our defence being on top form. The question is what will happen to our attacking force: will they come up trumps or will they fade in the background without Torres and Gerrard? For what is worth here is my formation and line up: ............................Reina.......................... ....Dossena......Cara.........Skertel.....Bob...... ....Kuyt........Alonso..........Chief.......Reira.... ........................Babel............................. ..............................Keane...................... Prediction: 1-0 reira to score the winner............
  18. It will be close, but at Anfield with a squad without Gerrard or Torres and with Reira..............it will be close and being the optimistic bastard that I am I predict a 1-0 win for us------Reira to head in the goal :)
  19. I think people want arbeloa to be like evra, the thing is though, he is a solid defender than an out an out attacking fullback. The job he did on Messi deserves credit and I think if he does something similar to Rooney or Tevez then he might just the credit he deserves from the rest. Big Game this for many reasons......
  20. Agreed. When a player plays throuhg the pain barrier, it means that he is taking one for the team and should be applauded than booed. Of course some critics are so narrow minded that they just cant see the logic in that. As regards to his injury, I cant see the issue either. If he is fit then he plays if not then he does not. If it was against Stoke or Crew then I would not mind him not being 100% but this is united we are talking about and if he is not fit then he runs the risk of injuring himself even futher.
  21. Skertel and Carra will eat them alive. United without Ronaldo are not the same, plus Carra knows how to handle Berba inside and out, he is not unknown quanity. I fear of Rooney who might just score against us but other than that I am very confident. The above is probably our best line up to keep it tight whilst giving United something to think about but maybe having Ngog or Babel instead of Kuyt.
  22. No one here is suggesting to take Man City lightly. Even Rafa is a bit weary of the financial muscle behind them. I expect Man City to have a great season this year, especially in the second half of the season after the January transfer window. Now what impact will this have on our situation? With G&H not willing to give up their own funds, we are lacking in financial muscle to keep up with the big boys. With City now added we need another backer all together and I can see this developing in one of two ways: 1) We win the title or the CHL this year, attracting more bidders to which the yanks sell or 2) We lose our CHL football next should Man City buy more superstars and the yanks pull out I hope its the first but grimly I dont see any other way of the yanks leaving......
  23. Then of course its up to the player if he is 50%. If he does not want to play at 50% (adding the fact that he is the club captain) then he should not play. A happy SG at 50% is better than an unhappy SG at 50%. Well now that becomes a bit blurred now dont it?
