  1. Sammy lee with macca and evans to assist
  2. FWIW, all italian media seem to think the benitez to juve thing is a done deal. According to them, he is only meeting broughton next week to discuss the terms of his exit and decide an honourable exit strategy for both parties. Make of that what you will.
  3. if rafa were to leave and the choice of new manager was in my hand i'd go for the spanish national team manager. his name escapes me at the moment. he has done brilliantly at real and would give us some sort of continuation with rafa's work. we would not have to sack all the spanish academy staff brought in last summer either.
  4. I once saw a doc about him and he explained why he thought he was one of the best players of all time. He said they would be doing conditioning in the mountains in preseason and he was never much of a trainer. So he would induce the coach to indicate the route they would be running beforehand, he would go out at night, smoke a couple of fags and find a shortcut. The next morning he would stash a pack of fags in his shorts, jog through the shortcut, stop a couple of times en route for a fag and would still get to the finish line among the first three. He said brains are the difference between good players and great players. Surely he wouldn't get away with that today? But cool as fuck just the same.

In Malta we used to have a reserve team game played prior to the first team game between the same two clubs playing the first team game, in the past. It was discontinued as a lot of teams, especially in the lower divisions were not able to field 11 players for the reserve game. I think it would work in england for a number of reasons: 1.The younger players in the reserve team travel with the senior players. 2. They play in the big stadiums and get accustomed to the big arenas and big crowds. 3. The fans are exposed to what's coming through at their club much more. (How many of you actually went to Warrington to watch the reserves last year?) 4. For the price of one ticket, whoever can make it, can watch 2 matches. The downside would be that pitches in England may not be able to sustain 2 consecutive matches due to the wetter soil condition. But if a solution could be found for this I see it working marvellously in the UK.
  6. Uruguay, penalty just lost me a 25/1 accy. Had €d on paraguay and chile to win away and ecuador to play out a draw with uruguay. Was about to win €125. Bummer.
  7. conor, good on you lad. It seems like we do the same, or very similar job in the same industry. however, my job is still about account management, customer retention, relationship building and etc. i've got a portfolio of the company's most important customers and i have to answer for any business lost off of them. it's hectic, it's stressful, but i enjoy building relationships with serious businesses and business people. the only bummer is that the amount of tossers who do not give a fuck about relationship building and always push for the cheapest deal without looking at the value of what the get. it seems that at the moment if you dont seek ways how to reduce their costs in their telecomms, you're not doing your job. So while i have to seek ways and means to cross sell and upsell, the customers expect me to help them reduce costs. im hoping that this will even out in the future months and the trend is reversed and they start looking at investing more, the cheap fuckers!
  8. Milan ruined my fucking 8 game accy. I had them on a draw!! Fuck fuck fuck!
  9. I'm sorry but the notion that might is right and people just have to lump it, does not go down well with me and I find it unacceptable that intelligent people don't get infuriated at this kind of thought. If our ancestors had reasoned along such lines, we would still have suffrage of landed gentry only, slavery, no workers' rights so on and so forth. In my humble opinion, any kind of injustice should be shown up and fought with all ones capabilities
  10. But the us and former soviet union are the only two countries who imposed their overbearing power (both military and economic) on much smaller states and economies. Lately, the EU and China seem to have started following suit.
  11. I can tell you off the cuff when and when no: when it suits the, iee, when when the statust quo on import/export is threatened.
  12. Chavez is a real conundrum to me. Sometimes I get the feeling that he will be the man to make left-wing politics fashionable all around the world again; then when I see news like the above I say he is the one who will give it its final blow. You obviously have to factor in the agenda against him when news is filtered through the western media sieve.
  13. Mine comes from albert camus the french/algerian author. I love his works and after I had read most of them realised that both him and my grandfather come from the city of Oran in Algeria, and the affinity grew further.
