  1. Agreed, I sense Kenny doesn't trust him and wants rid. The apparent Tevez swap mooted during the year may have had some element of truth in it. Carroll has shown desire and bags of talent of late, he could be the best centre forward in the league but needs to start week in week out next season. I'd be fearful of letting Kenny do anything with the cheque book next season to be honest.
  2. Ha ha slated,oh well!! I'm talking about a general TLW league for the Fantasy Premier League - The official fantasy football game of the Barclays Premier League site. There was one last year unless this is all one big Bobby Ewing waking from the dead scene I'm going through here!!
  3. Sorry if opening an old thread but has there been a TLW league set up this year? Was in it last year but it didn't renew for some reason. If so can somebody paste the league code, cheers.
  4. You are an idiot. Well done.
  5. Doff my hat to you sir. Well done old chap.
  6. Realistically what do we hope to achieve this season. Champs Lge is out of the question so 6th or 5th if we are lucky is the height of it. The current squad, while admitedly have weaknesses all over, should be strong enough to secure a top 6 finish. Adam is half a season into his first Premiership campaign so I'd be loathe to give anything over £4m for the chap, paying anything above that for an unproven midfielder is madness. Likewise Ajax realise clubs get desperate in the Jan window, exhibit Aston Villa, and pay over the odds. Why not wait until summer and then thrash out a reasonable deal for Suarez when Ajax are more reasonable and have less bargaining power. The new owners will have to spend in the summer to prove their stated intentions for the club are real but I don't blame them for not being willing to pay over the odds at the moment when is is not essential.
  7. Hear hear. Agree with this whole heartedly, no need to panic buy in this window and pay inflated prices. "Most of us are frustrated and disappointed by the fact that the January transfer window is hours from closing and we have not signed any players. I am starting to see some fans making negative comments about our owners and comparing them to Hicks and Gillett just because we will not pay ridiculous prices for players, this is wrong. The January transfer window is a tricky one and suggestions for doing away it have been floating around for the last few seasons. The month long window usually doesn’t yield many signings and does cause prices to be inflated as clubs usually engage in panic buying. When you have teams like Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City in the mix, it really does not help the cause of responsible football clubs like ours. It is no secret that we are trying to sign Charlie Adam from Blackpool and Luis Suarez from Ajax however both of these clubs are playing hardball and trying to get a very high price for their star players. Damien Camolli (who from what we understand is leading the negotiations) wants to pay a fair price for these players and quite frankly I do not blame him. We have seen how Aston Villa splashed £24 million for Darren Bent last week and everyone seems to agree that no way Bent is worth that kind of price. Unlike the last few transfer windows, we now have money to spend however this money is going to be spent wisely so the club (which is now debt free) can sustain itself and not run huge losses and risk of ending up in debt again. John W Henry and Tom Werner have so far kept all their promises and I do trust them to keep doing the right thing, these guys have the winning formula. When they bought us we were in the bottom three and as of today we are in seventh place. Not only did they listen to us but they took action on what we had to say. They sat down and talked to various supporters groups and now are getting us (fans) involved in the operation of the club. We wanted our unpopular manager out and they did that, they brought on King Kenny to steady the ship and stop our decline. All this would have been unimaginable under Hicks & Gillett. So let us be patient and remember we are in good hands. Y.N.W.A."
  8. I thought Swanley was a great character. Driving around an hour late for your wedding and not knowing where the church is but yet he was happy as a pig in shit. I'd be freaking out if that was me, of course I would most likely know where the church was and also not be in a Hi-Ace, but yet he was grand. Then just before he decides to head to the church he gets one last jager bomb and proceedes to spill have of it on his suit!! Legend.
  9. To be honest I hadn't even considered Fabio as he is so injury prone. At least with Konchesky you'd hope that he will be there for the majority of the season without injury. I think Agger is doing well there at the moment so doubt he will drop him anytime soon but seeing as Paul is clearly a favourite of Roy's then its impossible to guess how the left back position will play out. By starting Konchesky at LB then the centre back positions are now not guaranteed. I really can't predict bar Johnson how our backline will lay out against Brummie.
  10. While I'm glad we've signed the lad, and wish him well, I wonder will he actually even start that many league games. Roy is clearly a fan of his and had him as Fulham's first choice left back but its a different story at Liverpool. Agger probably won't be happy to slot in left back all season long either so will Konchesky actually be our first choice left back? Just can't see it myself.
  11. Haha, quality. He/she is giving me a pain in my head at this stage.
  12. Wouldn't have made any difference, Sneijder would most likely have been left on the bench for the year aswell.
  13. Fantastic,the grunts/groans make it!
