Arsenal were virtually first choice v Ipswich. They don’t have a game at the weekend and 6 days before they play PSG. No reason they shouldn’t be playing their best side available tonight. Only way they won’t be is if, Saka for example, is still nursing a knock from Sunday.

I’m don’t mind being used as a stepping stone, I’m sure the mancs didn’t mind all Ronaldo’s goals & trophies before Madrid, however, I wouldn’t be allowing him a release clause or something to allow him the move. It sets a bad precedent for other players and if Real Madrid want one of our best performing players, we should, where possible, make them pay top whack.

With all his injuries, Newcastle were prepared to pay £45m last summer. We might not get that again (it seemed excessive at the time), somebody will definitely take him. We want players who are first team ready now or players we’re certain will be first team quality in the future.

I don’t see it that way. IMO, Gomez will likely go. Huijsen would take his place. Tell Huijsen to sign for the champions, guaranteed CL, he’ll get minutes but also to learn off one of the best centre backs to ever play the game and take his crown in 2 years time. If he thinks Chelsea is a better move or thinks he can dictate moving to Real Madrid after 27 appearances, I’m happy to pass.

Considering he cost £65m + add ons, if we got £70m back from him, that would be some sort of result. Neither of the other players are an out and out #9 like Nunez.

What did we reject in January? And was there a specific club in Saudi? If it’s Al Hilal, they are playing in the CWC, so might be able to sell in that earlier window.
