Wow... this was not what I was expecting when I posted here :sniff:
Even though I'm over 30 and never have been at anfield before does not mean I'm a part-time supporter that rides the tide of success given in Istanbul. I have supported LFC for many years before that one match, and always had a big dream about going to watch the team live.
Now it's so that going to a match to see stoke, fulham, reading, sunderland or any other team would have been just as great for me, BUT when offered a ticket to the mancs game and for the first time ever can see myself afford to go to a match this season why should I not take it? The price-difference is so small that it really doesn't matter. AND, if it hadn't been for the offer for the mancs-match-tickets I would probably have gone to one of those "smaller" matches since I had decided that THIS season I should finally have the trip of my life!
And, honestly, I think that the local fans should be proud to be housing one of the most popular teams in the world. But the fame comes (alongside with the cash foreigners spit in on buying shirts and other merchandising) with some cost. They also want to see their heroes play live some time. I know lots of guys from my town that would probably "kill" for this trip. There is a massive struggle in the city I live about which team to support, and even though it's the home-town of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer I think it's pretty 50-50 between LFC and MAU when it comes to which team people support. And regarding the status that guy has here, that is pretty amazing. The pubs are filled to limit every time one of these teams are showing, and you should see the rivalry when its LFC-MAU (or opposite).
Before you guys judge the people who comes to "steal" your tickets, cant you see it from a little other angle as well? You don't need to be a local to be a true fan, but it means that (If your not a millionaire) you have to single out which game you wanna go to. There are not many tickets to get hold on in Norway for each match, so just to have got hand on one is a big victory.
I still look forward to the match. No-one can take that feeling away from me. I'm still thinking I will have the time of my life. And I can look any one of you guys in the eyes and say "Yes, I think I deserve this ticket. A supporter should not be denied the chance to see his heroes when the opportunity is there!!".
And by the way..... I sat 9 hours in a silli online-queue trying to get hold on a Ticket whan Liverpool visits Norway this summer. Guess what... couldn't get one. Sold out faster than our national team could ever dream of!
(still sorry 'bout my english)
