  1. I think the take away for all the people who ignored science and common sense on this issue is that you did it because you thought you were ‘right’.   You were willing to see children be castrated on that basis.

Moment of reflection for all those nonce enablers. You know who you are…

Giving a child a drug that will impact on brain development, hugely impact their bone density and put them on a pathway to a life of medication is never the correct decision.  There is no evidence that PBs have any positive outcomes and the one flawed study cited to offer a

positive spin has been discredited and the protocol withdrawn.

I'm always struck by agression often shown from the pro transgender movement.

Most of the 'anti trans' voices aren't killing people, getting them excluded from pubs or setting fire to houses it would seem, they're retweeting things by Margaret Atwood, doing a stand up routine or saying they'd like to be able to take a shit in a train station in peace.

The reaction to it then seems to go straight to Defcon 1 with the spamming of publishing houses/universities, demands for job losses, demands for sponsorship cancellations, claims that their tweets are 'literally' killing people, that people are threatening suicide and so forth. If said target is punished in some way, it's then subject to a second phase of celebratory flaming.

The LGB alliance are currently getting an earful because they've been given a lottery grant for a helpline. The lottery is of course being flamed too. Owen Jones of course leading the charge.

Always seems a bit, I dunno, disproportionate. Almost like a sizeable chunk of these people are absolutely mental.

The idea that it's some kind of modern social justice movement is bonkers IMO and cheapens the fights which have gone before. Black people were and are being killed for being black, gay people were given electric shock therapy. Meanwhile, a hairy biker is fighting the good fight to be allowed to have a piss next to a little girl.

    What changed?

Hes a scientist specialising in ethics is sports.  After the Forstater case his views are protected so if he does get fired the OU is in trouble.  He knows what he’s doing.  I think he was also part of the panel that led to world rugby banning TW from womens rugby. They concluded you could have fairness and safety or inclusion. Not all three. And yet still…

    Nope.

You're a fundamentalist about Q.1, so it's not worth trying to engage with you on anything to do with the subject of trans rights. I've long since learned that; it's why I don't come into this thread very often. But the last couple of times I've been here, it's clear that you're becoming increasingly unhinged - even to the point of throwing snide allegations of child sexual abuse at some celebrity drag queen and pretending that paedos are putting frocks on to avoid prison.

    Research.

It’s child abuse. But remember I’m some kind of zealot or something.

Imagine introducing say, kidney transplants and not following up on how the transplantees were doing, then claiming they were amazing.  Then imagine a whole group of people fawning all over them and calling anyone questioning it a bigot?

    Just doing some research.

I do still think this debate exists largely only online. I've only ever encountered one transgender person and never met anyone who gives a fuck about it either way. My own concerns are based purely around safety, prisons etc. I also don't like being lectured on biology by people who aren't biologists.

But that’s just not true.  Women have been fired, cancelled, cheated out of wins in sports and even put in prison with men.  I’m pretty sure women being raped would love it to be ‘largely on line’.

in a week where children’s healthcare has been shown to be compromised the idea it’s ’largely Online’ shows how well the TRAs have done.

Blackwater: The Complete Saga (Michael McDowell) - 8.5/10

Generational family saga focusing on a wealthy family in Alabama. It's a slow burn but once you are invested in the characters it was a joy to read. The character development was exceptional, every member of the family had their own arc and everything links together over a span of about 50 years. There is some subtle supernatural stuff which just adds to the lore of the setting the author has created. Highly recommend this one.

The Long Walk (Richard Bachman) - 8/10

The first book I've read from King under the Bachman alias. I love a macabre, dystopian story and this perfectly fit the bill. Loved all the characters and their back stories, no one does the coming of age type stuff better than King even in this morbid backdrop. Wasn't overly keen on the ending, so lost a point on that but overall very enjoyable book.

And Then She Was Gone (Lisa Jewell) - 7.5/10

This is the type of stuff my mum reads and I was skeptical as I often pigeon hole books like this as 'Housewife fiction' rightly or wrongly. However, after giving this a chance i enjoyed it. The mystery kept me captivated throughout and it all tied in nicely to give a satisfying outcome.

Blackwater is absolutely amazing.  One of the best books I’ve read in years.

  9. The ‘toxicity on both sides’ is weird too.  One side is accused of being toxic for saying ‘no’. The other threatens rape, assaults women, tries to get them fired, fires them, drives them out of jobs, changes policy based on lies etc etc.  it’s so one sided.

Surgery is a non sequitur in terms of the findings of the report, from what I've gone through so far, there isn't any coverage of it as a common follow on treatment or part of GIDS pathway (although may have missed something).

Hormones are the main follow-up. The consequences of blockers affecting m2f transition surgery further down the line is highlighted as a major reason why it shouldn't be routinely prescribed to that cohort.

I’ve posted the clip of Jackie Green before, laughing that her sons prepubescent penis didn’t give the surgeon anything to work with. Then how she work him up to force the dilator into him.

None of this was secret but it seems that Cass has removed a veil.

The data linked to patients discharged to the adult clinics is one the big gaps in understanding drop out rates and any consequences of the treatment paths as, within the report, theres very little on what those are (despite the noise about it). But yeah, needs to be looked into, as does the policy decisions around the guidance given to GIDS that did enable routine prescription as the evidence base clearly isn't there in terms of positive or negative effects.

Mmm.  There was no follow up from Tavistock and deliberate obstruction in other clinics. Why?  There’s a constant parroting of a 1% dissatisfaction rate of reassignment surgery (GF honorary member OJ Simpleton loves it) yet a huge proportion of surgery goes fucking horribly wrong.  Pauline’s 6inch depth is a dream rarely realised.  The reality is a smell of shit from the colon skin. Or the other way the harvested skin from the forearm leaving it looking like Simon Weston.

  12. Also interesting how the clinics were deliberately obstructive and wouldn’t hand over data.  The government have stepped in demanded they cooperate.  This will be very messy.

What was the received wisdom on blockers on here?  Can’t remember? Must check.

After 380 pages have we got any closer to the real route cause of the problem, does Rico want to fuck one or be one?

There's a definite 'vehemently anti-gay/trans politician caught in uncompromising position with male aide' vibes going on.

    Neither.

He thinks biology is real and medical experiments on children are bad.  Imagine that being controversial?

The overview is not too long, people can read about the much needed (evidenced by the demand) expansion and improvement of treatment and service provision for themselves.

Rico has been a proven advocate for the provision of care to transgender people and does not have a track record of portraying them as liars, fantasists and predators at all. Internet points to the gasman. How the new car going? What range do you get?

Will have a read of the full report later, looking forward to seeing what actual evidence says for a change.

    Car is amazing thanks.

    I’m sure I predicted this.

Predicted the posters who’ll deny they ever defended kids being mutilated.

My all time favourite was the stand up guy who said ‘women are already raped in prisons so why did it matter if they get raped more? ‘.  Top poster too.  But remember talking to a Tory is unconscionable.
