  1. Peter Tork from the Monkees has caught the last train to Clarksville...
  2. For anyone interested in youth football in general https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/50-most-exciting-teenagers-english-football Only the 2 Liverpool players in there, which is probably fair, although Jones and Hoever could be worth a mention.
  3. Can't speak about the others, but I used to live in Streatham and Umunna was a pretty good MP and popular, I think he could have a decent chance of winning his seat
  4. And with the 2018 Annual Report now available, I can see that we spent £49m in 2017/18
  5. 453 allegations of substance in 10 months, or 0.08% of membership does seem quite low. But 453 allegations compared to 1,652 antisemitic incidents in the whole UK in 2018, well then it seems quite high https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/feb/07/antisemitic-incidents-uk-record-high-third-year-in-row-community-security-trust I have no view on this by the way, but whilst the % was small, 453 'feels' like a high number to me, so thought I would get a comparison. Perhaps my comparison is not like-for-like or valid, but 45 cases a month does not seem like bollocks to me. I am not saying there is a big issue, but I do think there is biased reporting in that article.
  6. The level of competition is so high now, both in terms of in the league, as well as within the squad for starting spots, that this really should be the plan for the majority of youngsters we have in my opinion. Wilson is probably good enough for a place in our squad now, playing in the cup games, getting minutes off the bench and the odd start if there is an injury. But if we have him in that role for the next couple of seasons, then in 2 years I think there is a lower chance that he is good enough to permanently replace those ahead of him than he would have starting the majority game for 2 seasons.
  7. Glad to hear that they might start to get a bit more action with the U23s though, as I've found the U23s a bit tough to watch this season. This is due to a combination of the better players either being with the senior squad (which is good!), on loan (also good), or injured (not so good), but for me its just been a bit uninspiring...
  8. Agree on Glatzel over Duncan, but then I've not watched all the games, and the ones I have watched have tended to be the ones where Glatzel has been on the scoresheet, and the ones where Duncan has been less so, and that may well be affecting my judgement! Despite all the goals, I am not sure either of them will end up as 'strikers' A nice rundown on the squad from the manager here https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/gerrards-cousin-the-scouse-german-and-meet-liverpools-next/hxe540f7d1lz1tegjs55wktvw
  9. I have some rules of thumb on transfers fees because they rarely actually get announced by the clubs, never trust transfer fees given on the the internet unless you really trust the source, and never use those figures to make a point unless you have checked that they are in the ballpark of being right according to a number of sources that you trust, otherwise you end up losing credibility... And even then, the generally agreed fees do not include the costs of doing transfers, so are most likely wrong anyway! What Anfield Online do is up to them!
  10. Ha, when I saw it I was minded to do a quick search, and I think Ardj does actually have me beat here
  11. I love how you used "the other year" to mean over 12 years ago. But then whilst checking how long it had actually been since Carrick moved, well, it seems to me like he doesn't have a sister!
  12. Gordon Banks has not saved it this time...
  13. I'm on my phone, but an instantly see 5 or 6 issues with their numbers Coutinho - Full amount including all add-on Alisson - add ons not included Fabinho - add ons not included Sinclair - no fee Teixeira - no fee Should I trust the rest of them? The top 3 massively skew the numbers This does not include the costs of doing the transfer fees, like agent fees.
  14. Would that be 'factual' net spend, or actual net spend...?
  15. I dunno, my knowledge is not great on other leagues, and I would not necessarily judge on money spent, but on the processes they use (or appear to use), so its also driven by relative to their size/resources. Over here, I think Spurs, Brighton and Brentford are the standout owners for me of doing things well (other than us). Despite their criticisms, the Redbull group seem to be doing good things at both clubs. Roma seem to be doing good things too, and its not surprising they have links to FSG. Probably as far as my knowledge goes really. Atletico are obviously punching above their weight, but I have no idea about their owners or how they are run. Hard to say with Bayern and Juve because they earn so much more than others in their league.
  16. I've gone over this type of stuff repeatedly over the years in this very thread, but the same shit still gets posted *shrugs*
  17. What rest? That is what is publicly available. Although financial results have been reported for 2017/18, the accounts aren't available yet. If you mean his first transfer window, when we bought in Grujic (and Grabara) and sold no one. Firstly He was only a couple of months in charge and wanted to take stock of what he had. Secondly the way transfers work is that we would have been contracted to pay fees in that window, and there is no way to know how much we 'spent' in that window because we only get the full year's accounts. For the full year 2015/16 we spent £38m, the year before £59m, the year before £53m, the year before £44m, and the year before that, FSG's first full season, it was £14m. That averages as as £41m per year. So, we have 2 'facts' in your post. One of them is demonstrably wrong, so why should we believe the other one?
  18. In his first full season it was £39m
