  1. Tbh match comentators are all shite this euros. Like some others dont mind McCoist too much at least he sounds like he genuinely loves the game.
  2. Reading the last few pages re female commentary, I feel compelled to comment from a female perspective. For me it depends on what input they are asked to give. I think in any sport no-one particularly enjoys someone who speaks and won't stfu, with comments that show no insight, usefulness or are just banal; irrespective of gender. If their is genuine insight in to tactics or formations, for example, that is something that is equivalent and insight can be gained from experience playing at a lower level or even watching / educating yourself. Sure their maybe some differences, again you can educate yourself in this reguard to a large extent. However, it is when female comentators begin commenting on what it is like taking a pen for example, or pressures of the game etc., this is when I start getting annoyed and call bullshit. I did when Clark Calslie was a commentator on the world cup, I hated listening to him that much it still grates, truly wofull. If you have not played in a game that high profile you simply can not know what it is like. Given the women's game has just recently gone pro and lower profile of the women's game in this country, they don't and cant offer insights in to being in elite professional football. Sure they may have represented the national team but it is nowhere near equivalent, they didn't have 60k people in the stadium, the massive tv audience, the pressure of a nation or the shear nuts amount of money involved. They simply can not give insighte in to this as they have not experienced it. It does my head in when they are asked to or voluntarily begin talking about it, as it really is not compatible to anything they will have experienced. Personally don't enjoy women's football, for me it is too obviously slower than the mens game. Compared to something like track and field or even tennis where the difference is much less obvious. I actually object to it being pushed on the bbc site like it is, as it makes it more difficult to actually fined what I want to see.
  3. dunno about the 60's but the deffo ran the parade up Scotty in the 80's. I remeber my mum leaning out of our upstairs window with a pool que, dropping a pair of bright red knickers in the open top bus from our 1st floor. The everton one did same, route I mean - they didnt recieve a pair of my mums undies though...
  4. Here is a nice guide kept updated by reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace Lots of info about what sort of spec to look for in a build as well as info on various stuff. Think primarily aimed at builders but info still stands if buying a pre built. Also they have pointed out at top of page these are base line specs and what you would hopefully manage from it. https://pcmasterrace.org/builds Oh and Alienware = dell with flash case. Asus ROG tend to be pricey but decent quality.
  5. We have a 65" so get to fuck with that tory nonsense, this isn't the GF! We did actually have a quick look at the 75 but decided that would be a bit extravagant.
  6. Not just Witch other places consistenmtly have it top also, having owned its bigger brother the GX I can 100% see why. If it is to be wall mounted check out the GX, as I said I managed to get a deal on it that brought it more in-line price wise with the CX, it comes with a special wall mount that quite often places have free fitting, we didnt want to wait so did outsleves. It looks very neat on the wall, as we wanted to keep as much floor space for VR the GX just ticked every box for us. Screen burn was something we looked in to and ofc is a potential problem with any OLED, since Sony use LG pannels it is a similar risk for both (unless that has changed in last year or so?). Lg have actually a few things on the TV's now to help stop screen burn now, a forced pixel refresh that we do once per week as well as the obvious screen saver modes etc. However this is something only time will tell I guess. When I upgrade my PC screen either this year or next it will prob be another LG tv OLED it is that good, provided ofc it still have GSync. The GX has completly turned me around from not being convinced to the point they will 100% be in the running for next purchase.
  7. CX / GX are excellent. We bought a 65" LG GX because no season tickets, we actually were going to buy the CX but ended up with the GX. It's basically the same telly, with a slimmer profile, comes with its own bracket so more flush when on wall and I think I different remote. Managed to have the guy give me some of their stupidly priced cables with it in Currys which I then proceeded to ask for a refund for, ended up only paying £50 extra than the CX. Since it was going on a wall anyways made sense. I was not convinced about LG initially when I was reserching, Samsung were never really in running this time because OLED's pic quality just looked so much more sharper. The LG had a few extra features over Sony, wich I knew we would make use of (Gsync). As well as usuall stuff runing to it also a PC with a GTX 3090 and Gsync enabled making it a 65" inch OLED gaming monitor that can run 4k @ 120hz. At some point wll also get arround to buying a PS5 and have that attached too. Hav zero regrettes about it as it is fucking brilliant.
  8. Funny you say it is not main stream, I mean you are correct, however, watching them from dk1 under 55k units in the world to seeing them on shop floors feels very main stream even if technicallythey are not quite there. Originally I think the resolution was 600x800 per eye if memory seves, simply because of screen technology. Having watched them advance, both technically and commercial sense, I reckon they will get there. As much as I can't stand Facebook their buyout was probably the best thing to happen as far as main stream goes - even surpassing the technical upgrades, )). It gave VR publicity it would never have attained. Even the BBC refused to have any news articles because their senior tech guy said it was bound to fail just as it had done in the 90s with the crt screen tech. Facebook actually forced people to take notice (the bastards). Oh and yeah Climb 2 = Crytek.
  9. We currently have a Quest 2 and Valve Index. Yes the Valve Index is excellent, however, I have an £1800 graphics card powering it, along with very high end mobo, cpu etc, everything that can be over clocked and all running perfectly together. If we hook up the Quest 2 to the same machine the difference is not night and day. Infact in all honestly it is negligible to the point we are considering selling the Index as the controllers alone are brand new rma and like the lighthouses are difficult to buy right now without paying hugely inflated prices. This would pay for my lower end gaming pc to have some upgrades that it is due. So it is not the fact that Index is better, it is just down to the fact it is not really a level playing field as mostly people don't have the hardware to run them side by side for a fair comparison. This kind of might sound pedantic but I think the fact it is not necessarily the expense of the headset more the equipment running it that is the limitation. Whilst throwing cash at it isn't the answer people would like to here, it does bode well for the future as let's face in in a few years the new standalone vr systems will be able to house the equivalent kit I am running at a fraction of the cost. Last page I read about motion sickness, something that had absolutely plagued me to extreme levels. What I have noticed is as fps and resolutions have icreased is the effects have lessened. I still can't walk about and have to use the teleport systems I games, however, now I can spend a fair amount of time in there before I begin to feel light headed. This is the case for both Index and Q2 (when tethered to pc). In all honesty right now to fix this the answer is to throw money at it unfortunately. Going from a 2080ti to a 3090 has drastically improved things again simply by increasing frame rate. Btw take a look at Climb 2 should be already released, looks great fun and will look forward to vr sickness and vomiting off to of skyscrapers.
  10. For use with PC this cable from amazon works well and £50 cheaper than official link cable. Has been well worth the cash as have been able to make use of the 3090 I bought a little while ago with the Q2.
  11. We have an Arc; managed to get £90 or so discount. I wanted to go full 5.1.2 as I wanted atmos that actually worked how it was supposed to. It looked very tidy mounted on wall and is quite low profile. It has really made a diffidence especially to bass, I was not 100% convinced we wouldn't end up having to buy a sub but we have not felt the need yet. The treble has a nice sparkle but not overly aggressive and really like the voice enhancement feature (brings mids forward so more pronounced) Sound fills the room nicely and poor cat seems to be a bit scared of it , which I guess attests to the accuracy of my comments.
  12. I suffer really bad VR sickness, similar feeling to travel sickness bit 10x worse. It is not a problem if it is something like a racing game or something steated, it is when you have to get up and walk about, I just have never been able to go more than 5 mins at a time. The new pc I build for SO, which is a bit if a monster rig, and the Index I was actually able to play HL: Alex for well over 30 mins due to higher fps. I should be able to crank the fps up to 90hz or so and get even more time in there. I think I could have managed even longer but had to cut it sort as game was due to begin. Btw if you like physics in games and building bazaar cotraptions Boneworks is decent. Idea of some of the stupid things that can be done:
  13. Quick how to from Reddit : Obvious this will not work with none VR games, also Netflix app is pretty cool.
  14. Been using VR since Oculus Kickstarter and Rift dk1 about 6 years or more ago. Your best bet of you want quick and easy is an Oculus Quest 2 for about £300 or so, no pc required. Just whack it on your head and away you go, it can even be connected to a pc if you decide to go down that route later. It is the Rift S that requires a PC, or Valve Index (we have this one currently and a monster pc for it). There are other headsets out there for PC like Pi Max but they are main ones. Was discussing hardware last night and they have to aim at mid range / lower tier to actually be able to mass market and sell these things. Tbh anyone asks about VR we tell them Quest 2, then that way if you don't like it, or get motion sickness you can return it for minimal outlay and if you love it you can build around it if you decide to. Edit: would recommend Elite headstrap to go with it as it is uncomfortable without it for £50.
  15. Is Cyberpunk the best game of trying to tank my framerate with the new graphics card then? Been trying to get my hands on a 3080 for ages, and had sold my last one a couple of months back and bought an LG tv with gsync in anticipation of new cards. Kept missing out as the SO kept changing mind. Bored of waiting so decided to get a 3090 instead. I have ended up ordering 3 of the buggers because they added the ones I wanted in wrong order. Either way the one I wanted is coming Tues so planning on pushing the new card some.
  16. Used startpage.com which is similar idea of being privacy based, it is google search engine with all the tracking stuff stripped out. That, firefox plus a few addons works pretty well for me.
  17. If you did priority pre-ordrer from them you are given a discount code which you use to knock £2k off price and you can only order if you have the discount code. It is so people can not skip the cue whilst allowing pre-orders to complete purchase. Article about it: https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/ps5-consoles-are-being-sold-on-currys-for-pound2449-and-theres-of-course-a-catch
  18. My grandmother had the 1st RC CofE joint service for her funeral in Liverpool. I went to RC and CoE schools in the area. Sectarianism has not exisisted on any large scale for a long time thankfully, for either club and I am proud to say our area is one of the most supportive of chucking out hate groups like those idiots who tried to arch here a couple of years ago. The whole Everton is RC and LFC is CofE is garbage too, I won't go in to details because I have previously. If blues do indeed know their history they would realise they were founded my Methodists anyway St Domingos was methodist. Surely if we are all Orange because of the founder, they should all be methodist and... Actually Chapel was named after St Domingos House which was build by West Indian trader in sugar/ slaves and former mayor of liverpool George Campbell. So following the "logic" I hate to think what that would make him, apart from Bagshot crazy. Maybe they should bring back their old favorite of "Everton is White" they used to sing. Edit: I actually hate seeing this sort of stuff trying to divide the area and clubs to neatly fit adgendas.
  19. This is not something that I have lots of experiance with, however, I do know the big problem is alot of places say our buds are waterproof, then when you look at their site they turn around and say nope dont use for swimming eg Jabra and Bose both advertise like this, so double check on manufacturer website. Ones that are for swimming are few and far in between I know Sony and Aftershokz do some but they have mp3 players attached.
  20. I was told was originally neither club were separated by religion, I mean St Domingos was Methodist. Everton was adopted by some of the RC irish members post war, when they recruited some players from the Republic. I think some also thought that LFC founded by Holding who was a member of the Orange Lodge and 2+2 together... Both clubs history were not separated by religion as far as I can find out, Holding was a businessman 1st - we all know the story of how LFC was founded and the Everton rent story that goes with it. Pretty sure Holding was involved in Everton renting Anfield to begin with. So you now have a club set up by Methodists, with a member of the Orange Lodge involved in their formative years, and yet still an RC club? When you scrutinise the history it just doesnt hold up for me. Add to this if you look at the ties between LFC and Celtic cosying up over the years, The Fields of Anfield Road is to the tune of The Fields of Anthery and second part of Poor Scouse Tommy is to the tune of The Sash - both republican and loyalist songs respectively. (Come to think of it last year pre match the singer they had in the Main stand concorse was actually singing Fields on Anthery). I doubt any of this would happen if there were any strong ties either way. My personal experience of religion and support is kind of interesting as my nan was the first person in the area who had a dual faith funeral the service was both RC and C of E. Her family was split even between siblings, I went to both RC schools (near Scotland Road way) and C of E (Wallasey way), both schools had kids that supported both clubs with a slight bias towards Liverpool. Additional: I have heared this Everton are RC nonsense from RC a few RC Evertonians before and had great fun telling them: "If they know their history they would know it was rubbish". I am not religious myself, however, I have took 2 RC priests to matches from my partners parish to welcome them - one to LFC vs Everton and one to LFC vs City. They both had a great time and were full on reds even before hand, even see them out and about with LFC baseball caps when they are in the civvies. Edited: On PC now and being lysdexic I cant spell for shit.
  21. Removed quote as you changed dw about it as it made me smile. Sorry about making you or anyone else uncomfortable. It was not my intention.
  22. Im prob going to make a rambeling post here. I dont post much but Iam alone today and just need to vent some frustration. Always remember when I was a kid seeing my father striking in the opening credits to news at ten, shouting Maggie out. I have no idea where it was but know it was not local so he and his colleagues had to travel. A scouser and manual labourer with no real qualifications. Guess who he always voted for... Yep the consevatives - every single time. I educated parents about Brexit and how the EU worked with independent sources. My mum went from not knowing what she would vote for to remain, she always has political interest though and always critical thinking. He would always parrot back strong and stable or whatever over simplified bs that was put out there. Him, he voted leave, he believed everything he heared in the pub and the msm everytime. Example he brought BNP literature in to the house. My poor mum devistated and I had to ask him how someone brought up in the aftermath of ww2 could even contenplate the far right dick heads? He became really sick last year and recieved amazing care, all free of charge including 4 visits from carers to his home per day and up to 7+ district nurse visits per week as he neared the end of his life. He put so much strain on my 80 year old mother it was unreal, he was never a nice person to his family. To the point where neither my brothers or myself felt we could do the eulogy and they didnt want to carry the coffin. In truth I honestly didn't feel any loss and still dont nearly 6 months later, which is kind if shocking that I am able to be so cold about it. He wanted his funeral in a bloody conservative club, my mum fortunately decided against this without persuasion as tbh I wouldnt have gone in there. My life has been saved numerous times by the NHS and so had his, I am prob going to be on meds for my whole life and have been told eventually its a wheel chair for me. This is now in danger if the usa trade deal includes pharma - lets face it it will include that and agri products, as thats what a big part of Brexit is about, and the billions that will be made for the most well off. My husband has a small buisness selling vr periferals that tops up our income, most go to the EU. So thats that now in danger. I know people of all ages vote in all sorts of ways but I find it mind blowing so many people of that generation and similar background to his dont see whats happening. I cant get my head around it, I kind of can with younger gens due to media influence and lack of critical thinking taught in schools. History just repeats I guess, all of its happened before and all of it will again. He only cared about himself, beat us up as kids literally and now he is again figuratively, even though he is not around. This is something that would apeal to his enormous amount of narsassism I believe. To say I feel dejected now is an understatement. Sorry about the rant, I dont have anywhere else right now to get this offf ny chest.
