  1. Hopefully he'll be squaring them to himself on the edge of the box.
  2. He was in acres of space for that corner. You wonder how long opposition teams will leave him completely unmarked like that if he keeps pinging shots on target from outside the box.
  3. The thought of him being subbed on/off for Forest at Anfield, and the reception he'll get...gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.
  4. Yep, and I think Virg's reaction was one of a man that not only intended to play the ball, but knows he DID get the ball, albeit a fraction after clipping Isak. Stiff, but you can see why it's given.
  5. The smug that will be pouring out of the next pod might actually melt a few phones. And I can't fucking wait!
  6. Much like cricket (which is still much better than this shitshow) the system is geared too much towards protecting the ref's decision, rather than striving to get the most correct decision every time.
  7. They'd want to make that count or things could go south very quickly for them.
  8. Is right. This fella is what Patrice refers to as 'ze sex'
  9. I wonder if he was always in line to be signed, but as a back up to an established DM. And now that original idea has fallen through, he's been bumped up a place in the pecking order. If there's a positive, it's that it may well fast-track Stef's development with more game time, without burning him out by overdoing it.
  10. Klopp just getting in before Ange signs every fucking Japanese player in Europe...again. On a slightly more positive note, having spent 4 years in Germany, you'd imagine the language barrier might not be such a big issue.
  11. What's no shirt sponsor + no European footy this season cost them?
  12. As a big fan of Ange, I'm glad Kane is off. Great player, but an enormous ego test had to be fed by every manager he's ever played under. It makes it much easier to want him to do well now, too! You do wonder if this deal going through only a couple of days before the season starts will give him a bit of extra time to bed in his game plan, in terms of patience from the owners, supporters etc.
  13. Don't forget that for one of the biggest games of his career to date, he sat his arse on the bench while his team choked rather spectacularly. Serious Götze at Wembley vibes.
  14. Ponting is spot on regarding protocol around a ball change. In a game that can be decided by half an inch, having a 'yeah, that'll do' attitude towards something as critical as the fucking ball is just bizarre. And still fucking it up! Overall, the luck was probably both ways and the result fair enough. England won 4 tosses from 5, seemed to get the better conditions to bat in overall, and then the ball change late on day 4. Australia got a massive slice in one hit with the Manchester weather saving them from a near-impossible position. One thing I enjoyed was the contrast in styles. England with their more aggressive approach against the Aussies having a more traditional way of playing. Both have their pros and cons and it made for a fascinating series throughout. Again, I think 2-2 was about right. And perhaps I'm being biased here, but Jairz also pointed out the self-importance of the 'Bazball' brigade was nauseating at times. Don't confuse this with the style itself, which was at times devastating and had some fine bowlers looking rather clueless. But the absolute refusal of anyone associated with it to accept any criticism of its shortcomings just smacked of arrogance. Baz McCullum saying he wouldn't have a beer with the Aussies anytime soon after the Bairstow stumping. A man of his word it seems, as the teams apparently didn't come together for a beer after the series, despite the Aussies hanging around for a while to do so. If that's true, Stokes and Baz can get to fuck. Seriously poor form.
  15. Broad will definitely go into media. A successful career behind him, is well-spoken and a handsome bastard too. The cunt. Most Aussies rate him as the better bowler of the two. To be fair, his Ashes record is considerably better than Anderson's, so there is a basis for that opinion. A fascinating final day of one of the great Ashes series. And my twins are both in hospital for a sleep test overnight. Fortunately I'm in there with one, my wife with the other. Anyone who has spent the night with one of their kids in a hospital knows you sleep fuck all anyway, with machines beeping, nurses entering the room at all hours, etc. Thank goodness I've got tomorrow off!
  16. He's started his career virtually in T20 mode. Unfortunately for Australia, his last couple of innings have added discernment to his buckets of natural talent. He could be anything.
  17. - Bairstow taking screamers - Brook batting like a Test batsman - Cummins bowling Pies - Beautiful sunny weather in Manchester What the fuck's going on here??
  18. Well, that was a bumming. Cummins starting to show the reason why batsmen are captains 90% of the time. He can inspire through his actions as an excellent bowler, but I'm not sure he's tactically all that. England will look to get 150+ ahead then send Australia in after lunch tomorrow. Australia praying like a farmer in a drought.
  19. Klopp always liked a water carrier in midfield.
