  1. A few websites showing footage of Salah being back in full training. What was nice to see in the background was Allison and Gomez walking out too. Also think I say Bradley which will do him no harm, even if not ready for the match day squad, a bit of normality with his team mates will help his mindset you'd hope.
  2. Genuinely thought you said you were paddleboarding in Islamophobia for a minute and didn't know what to think?
  3. Just a comment on the oft repeated mantra that you can’t not be 100% behind the Alonso for Manager bandwagon but then not offer up a different person’s name. Can we please stop that? As Dave said, it’s perfectly fine to have concerns about his experience. And as probably the one seen as the biggest naysayer, I fully agree that those concerns are getting less and less, and as each week passes Alonso becomes more and more the obvious choice. But we can still offer up concerns without them being dismissed because I don’t know the quality of all managers out there in Europe. I've said before I'd want Ancelotti as first choice solely because of the quality of the squad we have we need someone to come straight in and challenge. I initially said DeZebri bit have moved away from that the more I looked into it. But stop dismissing a persons concerns solely because they aren’t offering up what you deem acceptable alternatives. Now having said my Ancelotti view, all things considered, I’ve since moved to the Alonso train as he really does seem the best alternative out there for a long term-ish appointment, and that’s mainly because of how good a job he’s doing. But that doesn’t mean I still don’t have concerns around his experience, especially now the pressure of them being favourites is on and he and his players have yet to experience that fully. I'd love to be able to fast forward to the end of the season and see how he pans out. One thing though, for years I railed against the idea that Alex Ferguson took over a terrible Man Utd team in 1985 when they were in the relegation zone precisely because they finished 4th the season before (tied on points with 2nd) so there was clearly a good squad there. So the same applies with Alonso taking over a team in the relegation zone without pointing out that Leverkusen finished 3rd the season before, so again, clearly a good squad was already there. But the way he has taken them on to the position they are in now is impressive in the extreme. He is doing brilliantly and more and more looks like the obvious choice for us and particularly after the Bayern result. Now people, please selectively quote from the above so you can paint me as an anti-Alonso cunt. Ta.
  4. I always think more than 3 people on the podcast is too many as they all just keep talking over each other and that's very frustrating sad a listener. Also, 2 people is too few sometimes. I saw sometimes, but what I mean is if the two are forgetful, middle-aged, dodderers liable to head off in tangents that have nothing to do with anything. However, both are really enjoyable in their own way and should be mandated to happen every 2 months or so
  5. Only so you could wreck the place with no one there to stop you
  6. I’m an hour in and I’ve checked my phone 6 times to make sure I haven't accidentally turned on the “2 drunk lads talking random shite” podcast in error. It’s like a classroom of 5 year olds when the teacher leaves the room for a few minutes and everything just goes to hell. Chris will have been sitting back listening to this, sipping tea from his TLW Podcast Host cup quietly repeating ‘That’s why. That’s why”. Still enjoyed it though.
  7. That was a very impressive performance. They never let Bayern into the game at all. I just hope it’s not one of those teams that are winning despite their manager like a lot of our fans say about Rodger’s and us in 2014?* *For avoidance of doubt I’m taking piss out of the gobshites who say that nonsense about Rodgers, as if a team could operate without a manager.
  8. I much preferred the “where’s our famous atmosphere” articles in fanzines back in the early ‘90s. The complaint just felt more real when you could feel the paper between your fingers.
  9. Outside of our annoyance, this must be heartbreaking for Thiago. He will have worked so hard to get back after such a long time out and to then break down almost immediately must have been devastating for him.
  10. Joyce in the Times reporting it. Thiago should just retire. It's getting silly
  11. So what you're saying is we need to start losing more to normalise listening to sad pods?
  12. And, we have the joint best defence in the league, so arguably it's working. It would just feel a lot more likes it's working if we hadn't just made a defensive howler that cost us a vital gamne.
  13. This is how disappointed I was with the result. I sat downstairs.... So yes, that was a pretty negative pod. Not too much good was picked out of the performance to try and be positive from, but that's probably because there was no good to pick out of it. However, we said all along that this is the first season of a new midfield and a new(ish) style of play so these types of performances will and can happen. One thing that was spoken about was Virg and Konate letting the ball bounce. I've noticed that a lot this season and they were going it a lot in the Chelsea game and in the recent Cup game too. It's basics of defending not to let it bounce so it's very weird to see both centre backs doing it regularly?
  14. Absolutely this. The podcasts following a loss are always the ones that have the biggest impact on me. They help me process the reasons behind it, and always help me see the positives. I’ll be on my bus in the morning listening to this. I’ll board the bus worried about champions league qualification and get off the bus wondering how many games in advance we’ll win the league. It doesn’t matter how negative or positive the pod is, it always points me towards positive aspects.
  15. Everyone talking about how we beat them the last time seem to be conveniently ignoring that Arsenal could and probably should have been about 4-0 up at half time.
  16. Can we stop commenting in this thread please? Every time I see new posts I assume the fucker has died.
